What if your womb is the creation portals for your leadership? And the transformed leadership we want for our world and communities will be born through our wombs, and the work of tending to our wombs and bodies? Today I am talking about womb healing and leadership with Tumelo Moreri who is an initiated Spiritual Healer, Womb Medicine Woman and Embodied Leadership Guide based in Botswana. She supports women seeking to heal their inner womb wounds and pains and reclaim the power and sovereignty of their wombs. Tumelo`s work is influenced by African Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Psycho-spiritual Healing, and is grounded in the Kingdom of God, and in mentorship and training in Womb Healing, Quantum Healing, Cosmic Womb Wisdom, Menstruality and Cycle Awareness, Pleasure and Intimacy Work, Sacred Sexuality, and Trauma-Informed space holding. This is such a deeply authentic and insightful conversation, from woman to woman and womb to womb - enjoy! In this conversation we explored:Tumelo`s journey, and how she was guided to develop this work when being selected for a leadership development program in 2014 which set her onto a deep journey of inner healing, truly meeting herself, starting to converse with her womb and research this field extensively. What womb healing is and how we may heal our womb. Tumelo shared different modalities for healing our womb and self-care practices we can incorporate into our day-to-day life to support the healing of your womb.We talked about what might necessitate womb healing in general, and also specifically for us as women leaders. Tumelo shared why we need to do our inner healing work as leaders. We explored the potential of our body and womb to serve as creation portals for a new earth and for an integrated leadership. We talked about abortion and early pregnancy loss and that there's a growing absence of resources (that women know of and are aware of) to facilitate healing for this experience as a Rite of Passage for women. Tumelo offers a womb healing program to restore and honor pregnancy and pregnancy loss as a Rite of Passage and an initiation of womanhood.Receive my free mini course: From body shame and disconnect to joy and into the fullness of your creative power: - www.flurinathali.com/ ---The Soft Rebellion Podcast is created and hosted by Flurina Dominique Thali. Today we're talking about womb healing and leadership with Tumelo Moreri who is a Spiritual Healer, Womb Medicine Woman and Embodied Leadership Guide based in Botswana. Her work is anchored in her training in leadership and integrative coaching as well as African Spirituality. It's a far-reaching conversation, rich in story and sprinkled all throughout with embodied feminine wisdom. We explore:How to follow your Calling, even when everything around you seems to be collapsing, and nobody around you seems to understand (and how your womb can guide you when you're being cracked open). How connecting with your ancestors - an important part of Tumelo's womb healing approach - can serve as an antidote to imposter syndrome (and how cycle awareness amplifies this)Our wombs as a gateway to the mother, the mystery our own unique medicine and how we can each work to ‘partner with our wombs' as leaders. ---The doors are now open for our Your Creative Power course, starting in September. 0:00 -- Intro.2:12 -- Start of interview.3:00 -- Stephen's "origin story". His start with IRRC in Washington, DC (1988). His focus on international corporate governance.7:01 -- The anti-Apartheid divestment campaign in South Africa. "Most people don't quite realize that in the U.S. the real corporate governance movement -what we might call today the ESG movement- stems from the campaign for anti-Apartheid sanctions and divestment." (early 1970s).10:27 -- On the historical background of investor advocacy, and his book on Isaac Le Maire "the first short seller and shareholder activist." The conflict with the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in the early 1600s (the first joint-stock company in the world).15:19 -- On the evolution of U.S. corporate governance and the rise of institutional investors since the late 1980s (particularly the big four: BlackRock, Vanguard, State Street and Fidelity). "[F]or most of the time (from late '80s to about 7 years ago), corporate governance has been more or less an exercise in throat clearing, a box-checking exercise, a compliance/legal matter that had to be done because of the DOL Avon Letter in 1988 [pointing out that proxy voting, like buy/hold/sell decisions, is a fiduciary act, and must be for “the exclusive benefit of plan participants."] "There was a lot of corporate governance talk, but it was at the margins."19:27 -- What changed in large asset managers to go from "passive investors" to more active with investment stewardship. Some factors (in the last decade): 1) Influence from Europe, where they insisted that these large funds sign up for commitments such as the UN Principles for Responsible Investment, and "to demonstrate bona fides when it comes to ESG factors," 2) Many of their institutional clients were becoming more aware of the importance of ESG factors; 3) Biggest factor: rising class of millennial investors, who have a different set of expectations on their financial agents.25:54 -- On the new policies such as from BlackRock and Vanguard to pass-through voting power to beneficial owners. 28:50 -- "One of the most exciting development in the capital markets is that in the last few decades we made a lot of progress on 1) management accountability to boards; 2) boards better equipped to oversee management; and 3) boards responsiveness to institutional investors. But the last piece of the puzzle is the accountability of institutional investors to the real sources of capital (beneficial owners) - the governance of institutional investors or stewardship governance." [see article Agency Costs of Agency Capitalism, by Gilson and Gordon (2013)] Citizen investors initiatives (to give them a voice), for example Tumelo (in the UK) or Say Technologies in the US (purchased by Robinhood).32:30 -- On proxy advisors and the Best Practices Principles for Shareholder Voting Research and its Oversight Committee (where he was the founding Chairman until 2022). This is an example of "monitored self-regulation." Konstantinos Sergakis is now the Chair.38:34 -- On the practice of dual-class share structures (supermajority voting structures). "A perennial issue in corporate governance." The case of Elsevier and Robert Maxwell. 42:25 -- On "corporate governance with Chinese characteristics."44:37 -- Challenges and opportunities of corporate governance in regions such as the Middle East and Africa (where he has been active). "There has been progress at a pace that in my wildest dreams I would have not anticipated." The sovereign wealth funds are the next stage of progress, where they will go from passive to more active. Examples of stewardship from Malaysia, Singapore, Norway and South Africa.50:25 - The books that have greatly influenced his life: The Battle for the Soul of Capitalism, by John Bogle (2005) (and others by John Bogle)Presidential Power and the Modern Presidents, by Richard Neustadt (1991)The Torah.51:44 - His mentors, and what he learned from them. Paul Leventhal (Nuclear Control Institute)Richard Schneller (former Senate Majority Leader Connecticut State Senate)Ira Millstein, (partner Weil Gotshal)Jonathan Charkham (formerly with the Bank of England)53:17 - Quotes he thinks of often or live his life by. From his high school teacher "Never trust the magic of the printed word.”53:50 - An unusual habit or an absurd thing that he loves: olive picking.54:28 - The living person he most admires: his wife.Stephen Davis is a senior fellow at the Harvard Law School Programs on Corporate Governance and Institutional Investors__ You can follow Stephen on social media at:Twitter: @StephenM_DavisLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/stephen-davis-6282424/__ You can follow Evan on social media at:Twitter: @evanepsteinLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/epsteinevan/ Substack: https://evanepstein.substack.com/__Music/Soundtrack (found via Free Music Archive): Seeing The Future by Dexter Britain is licensed under a Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 United States License

Georgia grew up in Edinburgh and studied Climate Change and Conservation under a Natural Sciences degree at Cambridge. While at university, she campaigned to transform how Cambridge's £6B endowment pot was invested, calling for transparency as well as shareholder engagement on critical issues like gender and climate change. She has worked for Jupiter and Alliance Trust on sustainable asset management, as well as Fauna and Flora International on natural capital. Georgia co-founded Tumelo in January 2018 with a mission to help every investor have a positive impact. Tumelo gives investors visibility over their underlying fund holdings and a shareholder voice on issues they care about at companies they own. Their white-label software plugs into existing investment platforms and pension portals, driving positive engagement between investment providers and their clients and, ultimately, influencing better stewardship across the asset management industry. On this episode of Outside In, Georgia talks with Jon about shareholder democracy, the power of our money, sensible valuations and getting life right.

Tumelo Moreri believes that if women were sexually liberated our society would flourish. We cannot have a conversation around Feminism and Emancipation of women without discussing sex, sexuality and pleasure. African women suppress their sexual desires because they have been socialised to associate sex with negativity. In addition, sexual education in African cultures focuses on pleasuring the men and women who may not even think they deserve to also enjoy the sexual encounter. This conversation is necessary for women of all ages. Tumelo Moreri is a Botswana-based Medicine Woman engaged in a body of work on Womb Medicine. My spiritual mission is to help mostly women leaders, healers, artists and coaches in healing their womb wounds, activating their inner medicine, and accessing deeper intimacy and pleasure in their lives. Her journey as a Medicine Woman started in 2011, when she got her first spiritual awakening, and became more formalised in 2019 when she started working full time as Medicine Woman and leaning more deeply into her spiritual path as a Healer. She is also the founder of Tumelo Moreri International and Host of The Tumelo Moreri Podcast. Quotes: "Our society would flourish with women being sexually liberated" "Our sexual urges are very very natural" "Just the way we are intentional and make plans for our finances. We should also make plans for our sexual pleasure" "Pleasure is our birthright" "In our society there is shame when you don't know how to do it, when you want to explore how to do it there is shame" Connect with Tumelo: Instagram:@tumelomoreri Facebook: Tumelo Moreri Website: https://www.tumelomoreri.com/ KNOW your Roots, Grow your Purpose LINKS: Send us feedback or a voicenote here: https://wa.me/message/E3N7TH7RZSS4P1 +26097 8470395 Website: https://www.africanawoman.com Socials: Instagram: @ChulubyDesign & @AfricanaWoman Facebook: Chulu by Design & Africana Woman Join the Africana Woman Visionaries: https://www.facebook.com/groups/708489836426989 Africana Woman Blog: https://www.africanawoman.com/blog
Georgia Stewart is the co-founder and CEO at Tumelo, a start-up which provides investment platforms and pension providers increased transparency on the companies they own. Georgia grew up in Edinburgh and was originally keen on pursuing a career as a vet. Whilst studying at Cambridge University Georgia became exposed to just how little transparency there was in the investment sector and made a mental note to circle back to this when the time was right. After a number of years working in asset management Georgia decided that it was time to revisit a topic that she had become thoroughly passionate about. In January 2018 Tumelo was launched in the hope of helping every investor have a positive impact. James and Hector sat down with Georgia to discuss what led her to pursue a career in ESG, the importance of continually evolving your hiring process and why there is no such thing as a perfectly ethical company.
