Tales of UFOs ejecting hot metal go back to the days when flying saucers were just becoming an American national obsession. In fact, the first flying saucer witness, Kenneth Arnold, encountered such a tale when he looked into the Maury Island Incident for Fate magazine and became the first privately funded flying saucer investigator. In this week’s blog, we’ll take a look at an incident that was reported 30 years later in Council Bluffs, Iowa. According to an article by Jason Offutt for the Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, Daily Examiner published online on February 9, 2011, Mike Moore was driving through Big Lake Park with his wife at 7:45 p.m. on Saturday Dec. 17, 1977, when they saw “this big ball of red stuff in the sky.” Moore said it hovered, dropped something on fire into the park, and then flew away. According to an article by Richard Warner published on the website of the Historical and Preservation Society of Pottawattamie County (Council Bluffs, Iowa), at 7:45 p.m. that same night, three teenagers driving to a store observed what seems to be the same falling red ball. It went behind some trees in Big Lake Park. Then, there was a bluish-white flash and two “arms of fire” were seen that shot out more than ten feet into the air. Read more →

What does it mean to let your heart guide your artistic process? Who do we need to become for the best art to flow through us? How does the spirit of service influence the creative gifts we offer? Artists who earn to operate from their heart space will explore these questions on Sunday Dec 6, 2020 at 9 am India time i.e. Saturday Dec 5, 2020 7.30 pm PST / 10.30 pm EST. The panelists include Daniel Nahmod, Singer/Songwriter (Los Angeles), Anand Sonecha, Architect (Ahmedabad/Portugal) and Ellie Walton, Filmmaker (Washington DC) in a conversation moderated by Nimo Patel.     Ellie Walton is a documentary filmmaker and educator, committed to sharing stories of everyday revolutionaries and misfits. Her feature documentaries have followed public housing residents fighting displacement (Chocolate City, 2007), theatre artists imagining change (Walk With Me, 2012), teenagers overcoming violence (Fly By Light, 2015), and young women rewriting tradition (Brave Girls, 2019).  Ellie’s career has been focused on deep engagement and collaboration, actively involving communities within the storytelling process, as she hands over the boom pole, shares the lens, and brings them into the edit room. She makes films because she loves hanging out with people, because she loves following unexpected turns in people’s lives and finding beauty in the small moments, and because she loves bringing people together to watch a good story unfold on screen, to dive into another person’s journey and to maybe feel like it was our own. That potential for a personal connection across superficial dividing lines fuels her commitment to this craft, now more than ever. Anand Sonecha is a talented and passionate architect. He studied under the mentorship of India’s most-prominent architect - Professor Balkrishna V Doshi. Along with his work as a professor at IPSA, Rajkot, he is the founder of SEAlab, an organization which he founded with his wife, to take on architectural and design projects that reflect their passion for culture, integrity and social harmony. Anand’s most recent projects include the Jai Jagat Theater and Volunteer houses in the Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram as well as School for visually impaired, blind children and housing for the Loving Community (where people who were affected by leprosy live). Anand presented the “Initial works at Sabarmati Ashram” at Harvard University as part of IndiaGSD lectures in 2017. Orange County, California-based Singer/Songwriter, Producer and Humanitarian Daniel Nahmod (pronounced Nay-mod‚) has performed his profound, heart-opening original music for over one million people in 45 U.S. states and Canada since beginning his music career in 1999... selling 110,000 CDs (and 10,000 printed songbooks!) to date and receiving literally thousands of standing ovations along the way. His songs are recorded and performed all over the world on a weekly basis.  Recent media appearances of Daniel's music include Saturday Night Live, The Voice, American Idol, The Super Bowl, and the Today Show. The conversation will be moderated by dear friend Nimo Patel.

Have you ever been caught in the act of something before? Well this week we got some things to discuss about getting caught. Surviving R Kelly Part II: what can we learn from the horrifying update? According to multiple people in the know, the Starz network and Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson are preparing to launch a lawsuit against French, for copyright infringement. French leaked an entire scene from the latest episode of Power. French and 50's latest squabble started when French posted about a used 2008 Bugatti that he bought. 50 Cent, who recently bought the 2020 version of the same car for $4 million, started flowing French over his second-hand purchase. Here we go again! Cardi took to Twitter last weekend and announced that she would be filing for her citizenship in Nigeria. She tweeted, “Naaaaa these memes are fuckin [crying emojis] but shit ain’t no joke! Especially being from New York. Its sad this man is putting Americans live in danger. Dumbest move Trump did to date ...I’m filing for my Nigerian citizenship.” Cardi was last in Nigeria when she performed at the Livespot X Festival on Saturday (Dec. 7). During the same trip, she also performed in Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium in the capital city. Speaking of Cardi, Invasion Of Privacy just spent its 91st week on the Billboard 200 chart at #56. That total puts Cardi's album in a tie with Lauryn Hill's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (1998) as the longest-charting debut album by a female rapper. We also had in studio, Ms. Tyra Paylor, an award-winning international hair educator. Check her and her products out at www.johnamico.com/magnificentproducts. This is where we bring you the latest news, reviews, rants, rumors and opinions on the players, coaches and front office of the Chicago Bulls. We’ve got several topics for this episode. Including: * Bulls vs Hawks Rundown * State of the Bulls: Is Lavine Turning The Corner to Elite Status? * Game predictions for the coming week Bulls vs Hawks Post-Game The Bulls took on the equally miserable Atlanta Hawks at the UC on Wednesday night. Forget about the Jabari Parker Revenge Game Part 2. This one was all Bulls from start to finish. The Bulls won with a 4-year record for team points with a score of 136-102. Zach Lavine seemed to have an answer for critics, and the calls on social media for his trade to another team for seemingly nothing. He’s definitely on a mission and with tonight’s performance of 35 points in just 25 minutes, including 7 threes. This was capped off with Lauri chipping in 22 points in 23 minutes. The offense had 32 assists in a complete victory. The new pairing of Denzel Valentine and Daniel Gafford is appearing to be a formidable duo off the bench for the Bulls with some productive play together. But when it came to the win, Bulls Head Coach Jim Boylen gave a lot of credit to Kris Dunn with the way he played against the Hawks, especially guarding Trae Young. Boylen: “KD is a good player. He's a top-level defender in this league.”     State of The Bulls:  Coach Boylen: “Zach wants to be great. He's working. His habits are good. I'm happy for him.” Question for the panel: Is Zach Lavine turning the corner, even if the Bulls haven’t found their winning ways yet? Can he be a team leader, an all star and consistently play at an elite NBA level? Last week Wyse and I go every game right except for the Golden State loss. But just heads up that I know some of my pals who listen are under the age of 12 and I wouldn't want you to proceed without a tiny warning that, well, Santa tells us some behind the scenes of the North Pole and we hear from an angry elf.  I sure love a good wellnessy cafe where I can order everything from avocado toast to chia pudding to a Reishi mushroom tea but what I love even more is a good story. Today's guests Jordan and Sam are long best friends and co-founders of Springbone a cafe I discovered just a couple weeks after moving to NYC and soon became a regular at. Springbone specializes in simple, natural food that blends taste and health with ease in every recipe. While I came in for the coconut milk soft-served I stayed because the founders Jordan and Sam were the nicest.  Being super new to the city, the two native New Yorkers flooded me with suggestions of places I'd like all over the city. We shared an interest in simple cooking that didn't sacrifice taste for health and I was curious on how they went from working in finance and real estate to starting their dream business . All my questions and more were answered on this week's episode. We had a tangental conversation as usual where we covered working with your best friend and tips on how to keep both the friendship and business strong as well as their advice for  being an entrepreneur in a field you aren’t an expert in. We discussed what health and wellness means to them, their thoughts on family, relationships, and spirituality.
