We're just a few days away from DragonCon! Normally we'd be flying to Atlanta right about now, with our Sleestak costumes carefully stuffed in our carry-on bags. But DragonCon is happening online this year, so just stay home and tune in. (But do still dress like a Sleestak. Always.) And we have more special DragonCon guests here on the Flopcast this week! Christine and Darryl are veteran DragonCon attendees, often spotted around the convention in their eerily accurate Doctor Crusher and Captain Picard costumes. So we're talking Star Trek (and DragonCon's Trek Track), our adventures as DragonCon Newbie Walking Tour guides, rolling giant dice with the American Sci-Fi Classics Track, and being trapped in Rhode Island for DragonCon weekend. (Rhode Island is at least as weird as DragonCon, so that helps.) Kevin and the Mayor (and lots more ESO Network personnel) will be appearing on several virtual DragonCon panels - watch our social media pages for our complete schedule, coming very soon. Meanwhile, be like Kornflake, stock up on scary beverages, and prepare for online geekery. This is happening. The Flopcast website! The ESO Network! The Flopcast on Facebook! The Flopcast on Instagram! The Flopcast on Twitter! Please rate and review The Flopcast on Apple Podcasts! Email: info@flopcast.net Our music is by The Sponge Awareness Foundation! DragonCon goes virtual! This week's promo: Pop Culture Cosmos!
This week, the guys are once again joined by their mate Josh to watch the 90's cult classic TV show "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction". Our friends at SkepTrack and Trek Track would love this one; the anthology program shows 5 "Twilight Zone"/"Unsolved Mysteries"-esque shorts each week, and tells you at the end of the episode whether they were based on a true story or completely made up by a writer! Watch along on Amazon Prime (or YouTube) and see if you can guess more right than Gary, Taylor or Josh! Gary and Taylor, lifelong friends and self-proclaimed Dragon Con/Convention experts, talk you through tips and hacks to get the most out of your convention experience - while saving as much money as possible. Save money at cons to spend money at cons! New episodes drop every Saturday.Find DragonCon Survival guide on Facebook or Instagram, follow us @CrunkedUpReview on the Twitters, email us at DragonConSurvivalGuide@gmail.com, or shout to the DragonCon gods in Downtown Atlanta at 2 AM.Thanks for liking, sharing, subscribing and listening!DragonCon Survival Guide is a Top Wop Studios Production.
This week, Gary flies solo with some quick announcements about the future of the podcast as we lead up to Virtual Dragon Con 2020! The guys will be coming at ya with 2 episodes a week leading up to Dragon Con 2020, featuring a new series "Off the Track(s)" where Gary and Taylor will research the fan tracks and talk to who runs them to give you the full story behind what makes Dragon Con so special. Also, like the old days, Gary and Taylor will bring friends along with them this time as the watch the cult classic anthology show "Beyond Belief: Fact or Fiction" and play along, trying to guess which of the short stories are "Fact" and which are "Fiction" from the writing staff! Fans of Skeptrack and Trek Track will enjoy that one! Also last minute Virtual Dragon Con prep, the Official Dragon Con Merch Store, and 2021 DragonCon Prep! This week, our guest is the esteemed Lisa Klink! She has much to discuss - from her time writing on Star Trek: Voyager, to that time she won "Jeopardy" five times in a row, to her new book projects and her work with Much Love Animal Rescue, to so much more! Travis also gives his long-anticipated (?) review of iOS9, and brings up his favorite subject again with the news that Apple is working on a self-driving car. Plus, Mark shares his union troubles, and Jeffrey is, well, there. We want to hear from you - give us your feedback and maybe we’ll give you a shout-out on the show!
