Dr. Matt Frakes shares his experience as Director of Performance Nutrition for the New York Giants, focusing on optimizing player performance through individualized nutrition strategies and building trusting relationships with athletes.• Breaking into sports nutrition careers requires networking, professionalism, and willingness to do grunt work before showcasing talent• College and pro settings differ dramatically—pros have more autonomy and often work with their own nutrition and training specialists• Athletes can build too much lean muscle mass relative to their skeletal structure, increasing injury risk• Performance nutrition requires an individualized approach considering body composition, position demands, and training phase• Nutritional strategies for brain health include omega-3 fatty acids, anti-inflammatory foods, and creatine supplementation• Recovery modalities like sauna, cryotherapy, red light therapy and compression are widely used at the professional level• Successful teams require strong interdisciplinary communication between performance staff, medical team and coachesDr. Frakes will be delivering the President's Lecture at the 22nd International Society of Sports Nutrition Conference, June 23-25 in Delray Beach, Florida.

Ladies, if you've ever felt energized one week and completely drained the next, there's a reason—and it's not just random. Your cycle is the ultimate roadmap to how you feel, think, and perform. But no one ever taught us how to use it to our advantage—until now.In this episode of The Balanced Body Podcast, I sit down with Alyx Coble-Frakes, founder of The Agenda Period, to dive into the power of cycle syncing and how it can transform the way you work, communicate, and take care of your body. We're breaking down:✅ Cycle syncing – How to plan your workouts, nutrition, and productivity around your hormonal shifts so you're working with your body, not against it✅ Talking to men about periods – Why opening up this conversation matters—for your partner, kids, and even in business✅ Running a cyclical business – How to stop forcing yourself into burnout and instead align your work with your body's natural rhythmsAlyx is a social entrepreneur, women's health advocate, and author of “Manstruation,” a book that's changing the way men and women talk about periods. She's passionate about helping women reclaim their energy and work smarter, not harder by syncing with their cycle.

IRM Halloween episode! For this Halloween I'm covering the novelization of the original Terminator from 1984. I also discuss the separate UK version of the Terminator novelization.
Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm honored to introduce you all to: MK ULTRA, Non-Human Intelligence, and Secret Space Program survivor and whistleblower, decorated combat veteran, investigative researcher and reporter, writer and blogger, remote viewer, clairvoyant, astral explorer, lucid dreamer, thought-projecting meditator, former GATE kid, and psionics explorer: Shane Frakes A little bit about Shane: Shane was likely born into a multi-generational lineage of family who were associated with and possibly used in government programs. He is a descendant of a lineage that carries the rare and peculiar RH-negative blood type, a trait that has long been associated with a unique connection to consciousness and possibly even alien origins. His great-grandfathers - one of whom worked with Paperclip n@zis - were involved in classified government projects including the Manhattan Project, UFO's, and the development of the atomic bomb. From as far back as he can remember, Shane was thrust into a world that most children could never imagine. A world where the government targeted him from a very young age for his psionic abilities. His childhood was far from ordinary - shaped by clandestine programs now infamously known as MK ULTRA or possibly even the Secret Space Program. Shane's abilities were not considered gifts. but rather a resource to be exploited, molded, and harnessed for purposes far beyond his comprehension at the time. As a decorated combat veteran with three tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), he has faced many challenges, but none as profound as those he encountered during his early years in these government programs. His experiences left him with fragmented memories, a legacy of trauma, and a deep understanding of the unseen forces at work in our world. Now, as an adult, Shane has reclaimed his abilities and dedicated his life to exploring the psionic realm. He is an investigative reporter, clairvoyant, and remote viewer, actively working with civilian organizations to push the boundaries of what is known about psionics, genetics, and the biology behind psychic abilities. His journey has led him to reestablish the connection he had with non-human intelligence (NHI) as a child, becoming an NHI communicator who regularly enters hypnagogic states to communicate with entities and gather information. Through extensive research and exploration, he has come to believe that the government discovered a correlation between the biological makeup of NHI and individuals with RH-negative blood, leading to the initiation of programs like MKUltra. These programs sought to test and groom children with psionic abilities, particularly those with RH-negative blood, for their potential to interact with NHI and advanced technology through consciousness. Send us a Text Message. On our 87th episode we're looking back at the year 1996, a simpler time when humanity came together and made big hits out of unsophisticated and unabashedly emotional sci-fi adventures. We're talking Independence Day directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Will Smith, Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum, Judd Hirsch, Margaret Colin, Mary McDonnell, Robert Loggia, James Rebhorn, Brent Spiner, Vivica A. Fox and Randy Quaid and Star Trek First Contact directed by Jonathan Frakes and starring Patrick Stewart, Frakes, Brent Spiner, Levar Burton, Michael Dorn, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Alfre Woodard, Alex Krige and James Cromwell. I'm Gino Caputi and returning for the follow up to our sci fi 1994 episode which compared Emmerich's Stargate to the previous TNG Star Trek film subtitled Generations are author/hypnotist Joe Field and Utah IT tech and reformed TNG superfan Burton Brown. Gentlemen, welcome. Before we get into it, the synopses: The people of the planet Earth are utterly astonished and horrified when on July 2nd 1996, an enormous spacecraft, half the size of the moon, launches 10 city-sized spacecraft over the world's major cities which proceed to blow them to smithereens. It's up to President Tom Whitmore, Ace Fighter Pilot Captain Steve Hiller and MIT genius David Levinson to devise a plan on Independence Day to stop the alien army. In Star Trek First Contact Captain Jean-Luc Picard's old foe the cybernetic Borg return to conquer the Federation once and for all by traveling back in time to the mid 21st Century to stop Warp Drive Pioneer Zefram Cochrane from making first contact with an advanced alien species. Picard and his brave crew of the brand new USS Enterprise E risk losing their ship and being stranded in the 21st Century forever when they follow the Borg into the past in order to thwart their nefarious plan. Peter Mogck and Matt Frakes turned their love of Minnesota lake life, and their desire to start something of their own into Paddle North, a water gear manufacturer best known for its inflatable paddle boards. The company marks its 10th anniversary this year, now with a team of 25 employees, and a line of products that has expanded to include kayaks, utility docks, and apparel The founders share keys to their successful partnership—Frakes is a mechanical engineer; Mogck runs marketing and branding, and both say they have “short memories” when disagreements occur, keeping in mind that they always know they both want the same thing: to continue scaling this company. They each put in $15,000 to start it, and have grown without outside investors, utilizing pre-orders to pay for manufacturing, outsourcing some production to keep their overhead low, and through grassroots marketing, from popup shops to social media. Even on the most challenging, demanding days, Frakes says the two never lose site of how lucky they are: “Our day to day business is making toys for the water.” Following the conversation, we go back to the classroom with the University of St. Thomas Opus College of Business where Seth Ketron is an assistant marketing professor. He talks about the importance of crafting a brand story. “How do you come up with a message that resonates with people, that they're willing to spread, and how do you make it easy for them to spread, and make sure it's something that really matters to people.”
Riker himself, Jonathan Frakes, beams down this week to discuss all things “All Good Things…” (See what we did there?)Frakes shares his experience working with the late director Winrich Kolbe while filming Star Trek: The Next Generation's landmark series finale, as well as what it was like to put on Admiral Riker's grey hair and beard, not to mention what it was like to shoot that final poker scene (and recreate it on Picard.) There are some great behind-the-scenes stories here that you don't want to miss!
Italian researcher, Roberto Pinotti, obtained documents of an alleged June 13, 1933 UFO crash in Northern Italy. These files were sent to him by a relative who was involved in the program, which provided testimonies and reports of alien bodies recovered from the crash site Apparently, Benito Mussolini set up a special inquiry to study the craft. If this is true, it predates the controversial Roswell incident by 14 years. We need to ask ourselves why are we being inundated with so many UFO/UAP stories recently. Are they preparing us for real disclosure or is this a continuation of the UFO psy-op? Tonight on Ground Zero, David Masters talks with USAF veteran and UFO/UAP researcher, Shane Frakes about UFO ITALIA 1933.Originally Broadcast On 7/10/23

D. Elliot WoodsTake a walk with me down Fascination Street as I get to know D. Elliot Woods. Elliot is an actor, and author. In this episode, we chat about how he got into acting, and some of the super talented people that have helped him along the way. For starters, his babysitter was a man who went on to be one of the most celebrated actors of all time! One of his college professors, is one of the most highly regarded, and respected actresses of all time! Even his cell phone number used to belong to a time traveling super star. We discuss some of his projects, including Friends, and Star Trek. Elliot tells me about the differences between working on Friends one week, and Star Trek the next. He shares fun stories from the set, working with: Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, and Jonathan Frakes. Of course, I ask him to tell the story of how "The D. Elliot Woods Rule" came to be, and how he set the bat for Wal Mart commercials. Finally, we dive into his new novel: Rise of the Unicorn. This book is a fantastic suspense thriller. It is action packed, with great storytelling, and even an underlying message of morality, and justice. The audiobook is available EXCLUSIVELY through Audible; but the dead tree version is available everywhere. We do touch a little on his forthcoming novel: Eleven Minutes and Fourteen Seconds. While many may recognize the images of Jonathan Frakes from Star Trek fame in a Victorian mansion, they may not be as familiar with the show that is represented. Join us outside the comfort zone of 90s Nickelodeon as we discuss with Monica this eerie anthology series that deserves a much bigger audience and why it's worth keeping the viewers perpetually perplexed with puzzles! SIDE HUSTLE 9: FARMER HOGGETT'S VOYAGE HOME Travel across the cosmos and back in time this week with TGTPTU and the crews of two starships Enterprise. Special guest Martin Harries from the Film vs Film podcast joins Capt. Ken and his number one Thomas this week to boldly go where numerous podcasting Trekkies have gone before as they explore two Academy (Starfleet) Award-winning actor-directors:STAR TREK IV: THE VOYAGE HOME (1986) starring and directed by Leonard Nimoy in his second directorial contribution to the Star Trek movie franchise. Nimoy would subsequently direct the top-grossing film of the following year, Three Men and Baby, but first he got the opportunity to give his vision to the Trek franchise. The Voyage Home was a hit with the general public, promoting an environmental message of deep concern to Nimoy who didn't want violence if he was going to direct what most fans consider the end of an internal Trek trilogy that began with Wrath of Khan.STAR TREK: FIRST CONTACT (1996) starring and directed by Jonathan Frakes in his feature debut as a director in this eighth Star Trek franchise film and the second for The Next Generation crew. Lighter on humor (but surprisingly also featuring a nuclear wessel), portions of First Contact are shot like a horror movie as The Borg (The Next Generation's eternal alien enemy) travel(s) back in time and infect(s) the crew aboard the Enterprise while the away team shakes a tail feather and drinks moonshine with the yet-to-be-legendary Zefram Cochrane portrayed by James Cromwell one year after playing Farmer Hoggett in Babe. “But what of Shatner?” serious nerds of film and fiends of the franchise might ask. Look, nerd/fiend, the ‘final frontier' might be a destination to boldly go, but it's a shit flick and gives credence to the cursed “odd number” Trek movies. We'd prefer to listen to 106 minutes of remixed whale song than suffer again through the trauma of Star Trek V: The Favored Nations Clause in Kirk's Contract (1989). So, in short, double dumbass on you.Now set headphones to stun and ready and prepare yourself for yammering speed and jettisoned opinions. May the force be with you.FILM VS FILM LINKS (it's so good): https://filmvsfilmpodcast.buzzsprout.com/THEME SONG BY: WEIRD A.I.Email: thegoodthepodandtheugly@gmail.comFacebook: https://m.facebook.com/TGTPTUInstagram: https://instagram.com/thegoodthepodandtheugly?igshid=um92md09kjg0Twitter: https://twitter.com/thegoodthepoda1YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6mI2plrgJu-TB95bbJCW-gBuzzsprout: https://thegoodthepodandtheugly.buzzsprout.com/Letterboxd (follow us!):Ken: Ken KoralJack: jackk1096

What if every frame of a television show could be a beautifully composed photograph? Join us as we converse with the master of visual storytelling, Crescenzo Notaralie ASC AIC, the lens behind the latest season of Star Trek: Picard. Crescencio's work is not just a series of moving images but a complex dance of light, texture and emotion that pulls you right into the narrative. We delve into his approach, from his influences and the art of photography, to the technicalities of lighting design and visual effects, especially during a global pandemic, and the importance of collaboration in bringing a script to life. Crescencio's insights span the industry from the recent evolution of television content, with mentions of popular shows like Euphoria, Succession, and Your Honor, to the often overlooked but crucial roles of below-the-line members in the industry. He emphasizes the importance of composition, the fundamental difference between pictures and photographs, and how renowned photographers like Irving Penn and Rembrandt inspire his work. Crescencio also shares captivating details of how his team used over a thousand lights to breathe life into the visuals for the third season of Star Trek: Picard while adhering to pandemic restrictions. Lastly, we discuss his experiences working with the likes of Jonathan Frakes on Star Trek: Picard, where he beautifully managed to respect the show's canon while adding his own creative touch. Our conversation extends into the realm of cinematography and lighting in film production, and the importance of fewer, high-quality shots in television production. This story has a very happy ending but it begins with, "I wrote Manstruation because I was so furious at men, I was so full of rage, I was so full of righteous, feminine anger, after years of building The Agenda Period, consistently interfacing with decision makers who had never had periods..." Alyx Coble-Frakes continually ran into ignorance, sexism, paternalism and much more as she pitched her business to venture capitalists. After a particularly horrible conversation in which she was told, "...I think that your case may be easier if you had some men who could be in the arena with you as allies, but we just don't know what to do. So maybe you could make a blog, maybe you could lead a discussion. Maybe you could have some kind of forum to support the good, well intentioned men who would be great allies for your cause," Alyx turned her frustration into fuel and wrote, "Manstruation: A Field Guide to Not Sucking When Someone Around You Has Their Period (and How You Can Be Supportive in Every Other Phase as Well) The result? Through the process, "I really stopped being so angry with men and that was beautiful." I can't wait for you to hear this incredible story!
