In this week's episode of 365 Amplified, hosts Stephanie Díaz de León, Rob Chappell, and Omar Waheed dive into local news and the real-world implications of artificial intelligence in journalism. Omar recaps his trip to Detroit for the Online News Association's AI Summit and reflects on how media organizations must evolve alongside emerging technologies. The team also covers local news, including the opening of the Atwood Music Hall and an ongoing grassroots campaign to recall a DeForest village trustee following a controversial fluoride vote and reported harassment of local residents. Later in the episode, Rob sits down for an in-depth conversation with Dr. Alex Gee and Harry Hawkins at Fountain of Life Church. Dr. Gee reflects on three decades of leading the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development and explains why he's stepping aside to let Harry take the helm. Harry shares his journey from jewelry retail to nonprofit leadership and lays out his vision for Nehemiah's next chapter — one centered on community-informed innovation, transformational leadership, and Black excellence. Plus, the team wraps the episode with a fun chat about what they wish they had endless access to. What if the secret to raising confident, empathetic, and healthy kids lies not in what you tell them, but in what you model for them every day? Tune in to discover practical strategies for integrating holistic well-being into both your life and your children's, and start leading by example today! About Autumn Swain Dr. Autumn Swain began her work in the faith-based nonprofit space by working with youth and families through a grassroots community development corporation, Nehemiah: Center for Urban Leadership Development. It was in this space that she found a way to use her gifts at the intersection of leadership and community development as well as holistic well-being involving both cross cultural and cross sector initiatives to impact leaders and their organizations through the company she founded, The Aligned Leader. It is Dr. Swain's belief that one of the greatest assets in our communities are its leaders, whether children or adults. Her unique perspective supports collaborative efforts and holistic strategies, increasing the capacity, health and fulfillment in the leader, their teams, and communities. In 2022, as a presenter at CCDA, a national gathering of leaders from all sectors, including faith-based institutions, non-profits, government and corporations with social impact initiatives, she focused on innovative strategies for community renewal through the integration of a blueprint for leader well-being. The general consensus was that leaders are not well; they are burnt out, stressed and overwhelmed. Do you have to "arrive" before you can leave behind a legacy? Or can you bring others along on your journey, while at the same time creating a legacy for young people? Anthony Cooper, Sr., Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Reentry Services at the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development, says he is still on his journey and that his gift to others is "to pull as many people along as possible." He believes in the importance of helping young people realize they're connected to something bigger than themselves, and that this village mentality is what makes things excellent.  In this third installment of Facebook Live conversations on Black Excellence brought to you by Madison365 and MMSD, "Coop" talks with our Executive Director of Family, Youth & Community Engagement, Nichelle Nichols, about Black Excellence and ensuring we prepare our Black students for college, career and community.  You can catch the Facebook Live version of this conversation - and several others - on Madison365’s Facebook page if you’d rather watch and listen.   Here's a direct link to this video.  *** Credits: Intro/Outro music by MicroSchool students Cheviest and Montevious.  ***   To request a written transcript of this episode, please email mmsdnews@madison.k12.wi.us.
