In 1971, a new pink, blonde little girl joined Betty Lou on Sesame Street. That's right, it's finally time for Prairie Dawn! And while Betty Lou faded to the background, Prairie Dawn stuck around and still appears on the show over 50 years later. Why did one work rather than the other? Well if anyone can help Becca answer that question, it's Stephanie D'Abruzzo, a performer who has years of experience developing female characters for children's media...and also currently performs Prairie Dawn on Sesame! They'll discuss everything from Prairie's handkerchief to 90s Anything Muppet Elizabeth, so you do not want to miss this one. And remember: the answers to Becca's questions will start with a Q. Last week, a study was published in the Sports Medicine Journal revealing that over an extended period, male high-level rugby players were more likely to develop Alzheimer's disease or other neurodegenerative diseases than the general population. This comes as increasing research and attention is being paid to head trauma, and the way it affects the individual long term. Monday Wire Producer Alex spoke to Dr Stephanie D'Souza, co-author of the study and Senior lecturer at the University of Auckland, about the Study's results, what they tell us about head and brain injuries, and what that means for New Zealand's national sport.
In this week's episode of 365 Amplified, hosts Stephanie Díaz de León, Rob Chappell, and Omar Waheed dive into local news and the real-world implications of artificial intelligence in journalism. Omar recaps his trip to Detroit for the Online News Association's AI Summit and reflects on how media organizations must evolve alongside emerging technologies. The team also covers local news, including the opening of the Atwood Music Hall and an ongoing grassroots campaign to recall a DeForest village trustee following a controversial fluoride vote and reported harassment of local residents. Later in the episode, Rob sits down for an in-depth conversation with Dr. Alex Gee and Harry Hawkins at Fountain of Life Church. Dr. Gee reflects on three decades of leading the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development and explains why he's stepping aside to let Harry take the helm. Harry shares his journey from jewelry retail to nonprofit leadership and lays out his vision for Nehemiah's next chapter — one centered on community-informed innovation, transformational leadership, and Black excellence. Plus, the team wraps the episode with a fun chat about what they wish they had endless access to. Send us a textScared? But Do It Anyway - is a continuation of episode 112. It's about having opportunities in life and the more they mean to you the more fear of failure comes in so a tendency with a lot of people is to not even try. But the reality is you do it anyway if you want to get ahead in life you have to do it anyway and there is no such thing as failure the only failure is not trying at all because if you try and if it doesn't go the way you want it to then you will learn what you need to work on or work at a particular situation. This episode has a guest speaker who is a performer who goes through jitters every time she's going to perform and she talks about what she does she does to combat that. I was told that the same chemicals are in our bodies that create joy and excitement as the ones that create fear. So you might as well turn that fear into excitement because your body doesn't know the difference and it will serve you much betterSpecial guest Stephanie Damilano with the Stephanie D band.Support the show
In this episode of 365 Amplified, hosts Stephanie Díaz de León, Rob Chappell, Omar Waheed, and Dave Dahmer cover a range of critical issues impacting Wisconsin and beyond. Topics Covered:
There is often a tendency to focus on physical rather than mental health during pregnancy. While rates can vary by country, research suggests that about 10 - 20% of pregnant women experience depression during pregnancy. This is higher than the average rate of 6% seen in the general population. The changes during pregnancy can also make it hard for mood disorders to be detected and treated. Dr. Stephanie D'Souza of University of Auckland joins to discuss her research as maternal depression and antidepressant use. Dr. D'Souza goes through her research as we talk about some key things to be aware of and why research in maternal health is hard to undertake.Important links:https://pada.nz/https://www.helpguide.org/find-helpDr. Stephanie D'Souza Bio: https://profiles.auckland.ac.nz/s-dsouzaSupport the showSupport us and reach out!https://smoothbrainsociety.comInstagram: @thesmoothbrainsocietyTikTok: @thesmoothbrainsocietyTwitter/X: @SmoothBrainSocFacebook: @thesmoothbrainsocietyMerch and all other links: Linktreeemail: thesmoothbrainsociety@gmail.com

One early January morning, while the snow was still falling down in Paris, Stephanie D'heygere cleared her throat on camera. In her hand was a mug of tea to keep her company. Beyond the view presented on screen, a sunflower-shaped lamp stood tall on what seemed like a fireplace behind her. It seems that the flora and beautiful objects that ornament Stephanie will never escape her immediate periphery. This idea of beauty–one that seeps into and away from the jewelry designer–is done with ease. Second nature even. As such, it only makes sense that beauty holds no structural meaning at her namesake label, D'heygere. The designs are first conceptualized with a unique story, holding multi-functionality at the heart of each piece that exits D'heygere's atelier door

Enjoy! We all have a tribe, a network of people who want to support us. It's up to US to put out the ask. And that's where we struggle. 1 we don't know what we want (we're not clear enough) & 2 we don't want to 'overstep' This #shareyourstory with my friend & Herclub founder, Stephanie D'Angelo, will have you walking away with nuggets on how to leverage the people you know to get what you want. Stephanie D'Angelos is a former Big 4 Auditor turned social entrepreneur. She is on a mission to rebrand golf from a health activity to a developmental skill for corporate women. As the founder of Herclub she is determined to design ways for motivated women to gain the edge they have been missing - through golf. In this conversation, Stephanie & I unpack:Networking - we hear it, what does it mean & how can we make it work for us. Stephanie talks openly about the hard conversation she had to have with herself as she kept getting accolades for her work & in the same breath thinking 'is this feeding my soul?'Here's to the power of sharing our stories.

Last week, I told you the story of three-year-old Hazel Homan, whose brain was fatally injured while she was in the care of her father's girlfriend, Kamee Dixon. This episode features two special guests. First, you'll hear my conversation with Stephanie D., the jury foreperson at Kamee's murder trial, who is the first juror I've spoken to on the podcast and who had a very valuable perspective of the case. Next, you'll hear from Ashlee Barnes, Hazel's aunt and the sister of Hazel's father, Brandon Homan. Ashlee has been the de facto family spokesperson since Hazel's death, and she told me all about the sweet little girl her family cherishes to this day, whose memory they will never allow to fade. This is part two of the heartbreaking story of Hazel Homan.Photos related to today's episode can be viewed on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodYou can also follow the podcast on: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpod Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/sufferthelittlechildrenpodcast Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/STLCpodTumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/sufferthelittlechildrenpodPinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/sufferthelittlechildrenpodTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@STLCpod My Linktree is available here: https://linktr.ee/stlcpod Visit the podcast's web page at https://www.sufferthelittlechildrenpod.com. Ordinary people can perform acts of astonishing selflessness, sometimes even putting their lives on the line. A pregnant woman saw a dorsal fin and blood in the water--and dove right in to pull her wounded husband to safety. Remarkably, some even leap into action to save complete strangers: One New York man jumped onto the subway tracks to rescue a boy who had fallen into the path of an oncoming train. Such behavior is not uniquely human. Researchers have found that mother rodents are highly motivated to bring newborn pups--not just their own--back to safety. What do these stories have in common, and what do they reveal about the instinct to protect others? In The Altruistic Urge, Stephanie D. Preston explores how and why we developed a surprisingly powerful drive to help the vulnerable. She argues that the neural and psychological mechanisms that evolved to safeguard offspring also motivate people to save strangers in need of immediate aid. Eye-catching dramatic rescues bear a striking similarity to how other mammals retrieve their young and help explain more mundane forms of support like donating money. Merging extensive interdisciplinary research that spans psychology, neuroscience, neurobiology, and evolutionary biology, Preston develops a groundbreaking model of altruistic responses. Her theory accounts for extraordinary feats of bravery, all-too-common apathy, and everything in between--and it can also be deployed to craft more effective appeals to assist those in need.Get the book here: https://wellingtonsquarebooks.indiecommerce.com/book/9780231204408
The simply singular Jewelry and Accessories phenomenon Stephanie D'heygere takes Dominique on the oddissey of how she broke into fashion. On her first ever podcast, the designer melds together her career from multiple rejections to securing major-league internships with JC de Castelbajac, Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Zac Posen and Jeremy Scott to then steering the Jewelry departments at iconic labels like Maison Margiela and Dior to flying out of the gate ultra-strong as creative director of her ANDAM Accessories Prize-winning and Dover Street Market-coveted brand D'HEYGERE. Stephanie details collaborating with arguably the most important fashion protagonist working today: her good friend and mentor - and previous The Most guest - Y/PROJECT and Diesel Creative Director Glenn Martens. She and Dominique also discuss the seemingly unlimited Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture-budget and the reach-for-the-stars dreams Stephanie is still harbouring. Follow D'heygere here. Heather O'Neill: Hotel Lonely Hearts 3.
