In this week's episode the group discusses the recent series against the Royals and Astros, highlighting the pitching problems and how the bats have gone cold. The team's performance has been inconsistent, leading to concerns about their chances of making the playoffs. The role of managers in the team's success or failure was a hot topic in relation to the recent sacking of the White Sox manager. The group debates how much influence a manager has on the outcome of games and the reasoning behind sacking the manager at this stage in the season. To lighten the mood, the group shares their favourite baseball movies and TV shows. They reminisce about memorable scenes and discussed how these films and shows capture the essence of the sport. We look at the upcoming series prior to the All Star Break and the race to qualifying for the playoffs. As we approach the All Star Break we also look at the wider MLB and which teams have under- and overachieved in the first half of the season. And we have a brief chat about this year's All Star jerseys and which non Red Sox MLB jersey are our personal favourites. On the baseball front, Addy, Barry and Drew talk about the great run of form shown by the Red Sox in recent weeks and the way in which they are playing. We talk about the Negro League game played last week and the sad passing of baseball legend Willie Mays. To finish this weeks episode we discuss the Triston Casas mid game interview and the Ted Williams red seat legend. We are back after taking a weekend off to enjoy the MLB London Series (or a weekend away for Barry)! As expected we recap the amazing weekend that was the London Series for all UK baseball fans and we find out if Drew managed to eat "the boomstick"! We hear some insights to the weekend from Addy as a volunteer and Drew as a visiting fan to the series. Of course we discuss the Red Sox games that have passed since our last proper episode and look at the results against the Braves, White Sox, Phillies and the Yankees. Our controversial discussion point this week is focussed on the players and umpire that received bans for gambling in the last few weeks and we finish off thinking about which current Red Sox player or staff member each of us would like to take out for dinner and why. No traditional episode this weekend as Addy and Drew attend the MLB London Series and Barry gets a much needed weekend break with the family. We do have a special episode in which we discuss the upcoming and previous London Series. The "rumoured to be" cancelled Paris Series are also discussed by our team before having a look at the two teams visiting London this weekend. Drew keeps us up to date on what food is on offer while Addy gives us some hints and tips around the London Stadium and the events at Trafalgar Square where our very own Drew will be hosting a Red Sox fan meet. We discuss the Rookie Of the Year race and the current two Red Sox players that are in contention, Abreu and Rafaela. As it was quite popular last time we did this, we look at two discussion points that feature on the American Facebook groups: ⚾ Trevor Bauer - Yes or No ⚾ If you became commissioner of baseball, what would you implement to improve the game? And lastly we try and predict the outcome of the series against the Brewers at Fenway, which at point of release of this episode has already been completed as the episode was recorded on Friday 24th of May.

In this episode of Beantown Brits, Drew, Addy and Barry discuss the last week in Red Sox Baseball, where we went 2 and 5 against the Rays and the Cardinals. And Devers equaling a Red Sox record of 5 home runs in 5 games. We have a look at the chance of Bryan Mata getting a call up now he is returning from injury and we have a discussion on some quirks in the schedule where we won't see the Yankees until mid June.
