Send us a textThe tribute band Rolling Harvest is coming to the Gold Hill Inn for the third year in a row, once again celebrating the songbook of Bob Dylan and Neil Young. The band, named from a combination of the Dylan song “Like a Rolling Stone” and the Young song “Harvest,” focuses solely on performing these two artists, with both of their catalogs being so immense that even multiple shows wouldn't allow the band to perform them all. The chosen songs, though, bring a sense of fun to each show, as everybody can sing along and enjoy new interpretations of these classics. You can see Rolling Harvest perform at the Gold Hill Inn, 401 Main Street in Gold Hill, on Friday, September 13, 2024, starting at 8 p.m. Thank you for listening to The Mountain-Ear podcast featuring the news and culture from peak to peak. At 16 years old, he had a weekly comic in the Lancaster paper. At 19, he had finished writing his first middle grade novel. Now, numerous books and years later, Adam Perry is trying something new: he's written a horror book for kids (or historical supernatural--you be the judge). Adam has a lot of fun and practical things to share about his creative journey. And you can still pick up his latest book, Ghosts Come Rising, in time for Halloween!

On this very special (repeat!) episode of Half a Star, Justin and Ben are joined by PEI filmmaker Adam Perry! Adam shares with the lads what is perhaps the most haunting half a star story they had ever heard - hence why it was originally released on Halloween 2020! This episode deserves another moment in the spotlight not just because of how funny it is, but because Adam's film A Small Fortune is having a WORLD PREMIERE on September 18 in Halifax! This is exciting news and we want to celebrate by reflecting upon the painfully true story from the storyteller himself. All this and maybe a little more on this episode of Half a Star: where bad ideas make great stories.

The most iconic image of the 80s? Arguably. One of the biggest-selling posters of all time? Unquestionably. Yet ‘L'Enfant' - captured on 26th May 1986 by photographer Spencer Rowell - was just a workaday, rapid-turnaround project for high street store Athena. The photo, which went on to adorn over five million walls, is often credited with inventing the ‘New Man' - but the people in the photograph were hardly financially rewarded for their subsequent stardom. In this episode, Olly, Arion and Rebecca reveal what ‘the baby' is up to these days; consider the extent to which the image's cheesy reputation is tied up with British awkwardness around male sexuality; and examine just how many women model Adam Perry claims to have bedded since…Further Reading:• The original poster, uploaded by Eighties Kids: https://www.eightieskids.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/1-1.jpg• The Independent reports on the ‘excess, addiction and tragedy' of ‘L'Enfant':https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/curse-man-and-baby-athena-and-birth-legend-432331.html• Spencer Rowell talks to Uncertain States in 2010:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0mUbTajhOcFor bonus material and to support the show, visit Patreon.com/RetrospectorsWe'll be back tomorrow! Scott and Matt were lucky enough to sit down with NRL Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs Premiership player Adam (Nugget) Perry. Adam was kind enough to talk to us about growing up and playing his junior football out in regional NSW and how he became a bulldog. We go through his career including the 2004 premiership as well as 2002 season. Adam also touches on the way he sees the club currently. We would like to once again thank Skip for his time and encourage everyone to listen to this episode in full.

This month, we are resharing our favorite episodes from our 2017 season on Ensemblist Essentials. Think of them as the essential essentials. In this episode, we spoke to three Broadway performers about “pre-production,” the process that choreographers use to develop their musical staging for a show. Throughout the episode, you’ll hear from Paige Faure, Dionne Figgins and Adam Perry. Enjoy… Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Adam Perry Broadway’s Backbone is a podcast dedicated to the men and woman of the ensemble: the chorus of dancers, singers, and actors that are the foundation of every Broadway musical. These often-unsung gypsies are the hardest working people on the boards and are Broadways backbone. Each episode interviews a Broadway vet about their life, career and dreams, but also delves into the real topics that aren’t always shared. The life of a gypsy maybe full of passion, but not always filled with glamour. Each guest shares intimate details about their journey. There is no mud slinging, but a maybe a little dirt. It’s hosted by Brad Bradley, a Broadway Performer himself, he has worked with most of the guests, so he knows what questions to ask. It’s a real look into the life that so many kids dream of. This podcast is in honor of the folks of the ensemble and the people who plan to be them. Artwork by-Guy Smith
