Created and hosted by Jocoby Junious, The By Name Beauty Podcast is the first and only beauty podcast that is meant to reflect the beauty in you! Jocoby, a corporate retail strategist and life-long beauty enthusiast, found herself deeply frustrated with society's constant consumption of black beauty culture without a true understanding and honoring of those who created it in the first place—i.e. black women. It seemed as though at every turn the trends that black women created were loved and accepted but they themselves were left out of the conversation time and time again. After realizing that the only way to create an industry (& global) shift was to foster understanding amongst all people while giving opportunities to those who have historically been ignored, the By Name Beauty Pod was born. Because let’s be honest, what the beauty industry so desperately needs isn’t going to be found in another 50 shade foundation line. What we need is a space for women of color at all levels to be championed and understood. So, join us biweekly as we delve beyond the surface of "hit" beauty products and influencers and discuss topics that challenge and empower us. One week you might find a new small business to support and the next you might hear about the highs and lows of body modification. Our only hope is that you listen, learn and enjoy & eventually pass the stories to someone else along the way ;) Welcome to the culture of beauty.
