Mt 20,20-28 20,20 Entonces la madre de los hijos de Zebedeo se acercó a Jesús, junto con sus hijos, y se postró ante él para pedirle algo. 20,21 «¿Qué quieres?», le preguntó Jesús. Ella le dijo: «Manda que mis dos hijos se sienten en tu Reino, uno a tu derecha y el otro a tu izquierda». 20,22 «No saben lo que piden», respondió Jesús. «¿Pueden beber el cáliz que yo beberé?». «Podemos», le respondieron. 20,23 «Está bien, les dijo Jesús, ustedes beberán mi cáliz. En cuanto a sentarse a mi derecha o a mi izquierda, no me toca a mí concederlo, sino que esos puestos son para quienes se los ha destinado mi Padre». 20,24 Al oír esto, los otros diez se indignaron contra los dos hermanos. 20,25 Pero Jesús los llamó y les dijo: «Ustedes saben que los jefes de las naciones dominan sobre ellas y los poderosos les hacen sentir su autoridad. 20,26 Entre ustedes no debe suceder así. Al contrario, el que quiera ser grande, que se haga servidor de ustedes; 20,27 y el que quiera ser el primero que se haga su esclavo: 20,28 como el Hijo del hombre, que no vino para ser servido, sino para servir y dar su vida en rescate por una multitud». El 25 de Julio se celebra la fiesta de Santiago Apóstol, patrón de España. El apóstol Santiago, primer apóstol mártir, viajó desde Jerusalén hasta Cádiz (España). Sus predicaciones no fueron bien recibidas, por lo que se trasladó posteriormente a Zaragoza. Aquí se convirtieron muchos habitantes de la zona. Estuvo predicando también en Granada, ciudad en la que fue hecho prisionero junto con todos sus discípulos y convertidos. Santiago llamó en su ayuda a la Virgen María, que entonces vivía aún en Jerusalén, rogándole lo ayudase. La Virgen le concedió el favor de liberarlo y le pidió que se trasladara a Galicia a predicar la fe, y que luego volviese a Zaragoza. El apóstol cumplió su misión en Galicia y regresó a Zaragoza, donde corrió muchos peligros. Una noche, el apóstol estuvo rezando intensamente con algunos discípulos junto al río Ebro, cerca de los muros de la ciudad, pidiendo luz para saber si debía quedarse o huir. Él pensaba en María Santísima y le pedía que rogara con él para pedir consejo y ayuda a su divino Hijo Jesús, que nada podía entonces negarle. De pronto, se vio venir un resplandor del cielo sobre el apóstol y aparecieron sobre él los ángeles que entonaban un canto muy armonioso mientras traían una columna de luz, cuyo pie, en medio de un rayo luminoso, señalaba un lugar, a pocos pasos del apóstol, como indicando un sitio determinado. Sobre la columna, se le apareció la Virgen María. Santiago se levantó del lugar donde estaba rezando de rodillas, y recibió internamente el aviso de María de que debía erigir de inmediato una iglesia allí; que la intercesión de María debía crecer como una raíz y expandirse. María le indicó que, una vez terminada la iglesia, debía volver a Jerusalén. Santiago se levantó, llamó a los discípulos que lo acompañaban, que habían oído la música y visto el resplandor; les narró lo demás, y presenciaron luego todos cómo se iba desvaneciendo el resplandor de la aparición. En el lugar de la aparición, se levantó lo que hoy es la Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar, un lugar de peregrinación famoso en el mundo entero que no fue destruido en la guerra civil española (1936-1939), puesto que las bombas que se lanzaron no explotaron, pudiéndose hoy en día verse expuestas en el interior de la Basílica. Santiago partió de España, para trasladarse a Jerusalén, como María le había ordenado. En este viaje visitó a María en Éfeso. María le predijo la proximidad de su muerte en Jerusalén, y lo consoló y lo confortó en gran manera. Santiago se despidió de María y de su hermano Juan, y se dirigió a Jerusalén, donde al poco tiempo fue hecho prisionero. Durante el recorrido, estuvo predicando y aún fue capaz de convertir a algunas personas. Cuando le ataron las manos, dijo: «Vosotros podéis atar mis manos, pero no mi bendición y mi lengua. Un tullido que se encontraba a la vera del camino, clamó al apóstol que le diera la mano y lo sanase. El apóstol le contestó: «Ven tú hacia mí y dame tu mano». El tullido fue hacia Santiago, tocó las manos atadas del apóstol e inmediatamente sanó. Josías, la persona que había entregado a Santiago, fue corriendo hacia él para implorar su perdón. Este hombre se convirtió a Cristo. Santiago le preguntó si deseaba ser bautizado. Él dijo que sí, por lo que el apóstol lo abrazó y le dijo: «Tú serás bautizado en tu propia sangre». Y así se cumplió más adelante, siendo Josías asesinado posteriormente por su fe. En otro tramo del recorrido, una mujer se acercó a Santiago con su hijo ciego para alcanzar de él la curación para su hijo, obteniéndola de inmediato. Una vez llegado al Monte Calvario, el mismo lugar donde años antes fue crucificado nuestro Señor, Santiago fue atado a unas piedras. Le vendaron los ojos y le decapitaron. El cuerpo de Santiago estuvo un tiempo en las cercanías de Jerusalén. Cuando se desencadenó una nueva persecución, lo llevaron a Galicia (España) algunos discípulos. En siglos posteriores y hasta el momento actual, numerosos fieles, principalmente de Europa, recorren parcialmente el «Camino de Santiago» que les conduce a la tumba del Santo, con el fin de pedir perdón por sus pecados. The International Brigades and the Fight for Spain**In this episode of the Explaining History Podcast, we are joined by Tony Fox, organiser of the Northeast Volunteers for Liberty and the International Brigades Memorial Organisation, to discuss the newly published collection, *Remember Me to My Comrades: Letters from Spain to Britain*.**The book emerged from a remarkable collaboration with the families of volunteers from the North East of England – one of the industrial heartlands hit hardest by the Great Depression. Through letters, diaries, and previously unpublished documents from the Russian archives, it brings to life the voices of men who went to Spain to fight fascism.Tony explains how the International Brigades were formed in response to the Non-Intervention Treaty signed by Britain, France and other powers. While Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy poured troops and weapons into Franco's Nationalist forces, the Soviet Union organised volunteers through the Comintern. In Britain, the Communist Party – not the Labour Party, which supported non-intervention – recruited and vetted two-and-a-half thousand men.We discuss the diverse motivations of the volunteers: from committed communists who had already fought Oswald Mosley's fascists on the streets of Britain, to idealists who saw Spain as the front line of a wider war against fascism. Hoy por Hoy Aragon y el Ebro (20/07/26)

El 17 de julio de 1936 el ejército de África se sublevó contra el gobierno en el protectorado español de Marruecos. Un día más tarde la rebelión militar se extendió a las comandancias de la península, pero no triunfó en todas ellas, en las principales ciudades y en la propia capital fracasó. Esta circunstancia transformó lo que un grupo de generales habían planeado como un golpe rápido e indoloro en una guerra civil que duraría casi tres años. Las dos Españas se reorganizaron. La republicana en torno a un gobierno debilitado y con muchas divisiones internas que iría improvisando y se mantendría a la defensiva. La sublevada, que pasó a denominarse nacional, en torno a la figura de Francisco Franco, un general africanista que en octubre fue nombrado comandante supremo por sus compañeros de armas. La guerra tuvo varias varias fases. En el otoño de 1936 las columnas sublevadas avanzaron sobre Madrid, pero no consiguieron tomar la ciudad, lo que prolongó el conflicto. En 1937 el frente principal se desplazó al norte. Los sublevados se hicieron con el País Vasco, Cantabria y Asturias desde las zonas que ya controlaban en Navarra y Galicia. En 1938 la ofensiva de Aragón partió la zona republicana en dos. La batalla del Ebro, entre julio y noviembre de 1938, fue la más larga y sangrienta de todas. La derrota republicana permitió a los sublevados hacerse con Cataluña dejando al bando republicano herido de muerte y sin posibilidad ya de recuperarse. Unos meses más tarde se rindió Madrid y, con él, lo que quedaba de la zona controlada por la república. La guerra terminó el 1 de abril de 1939. La guerra pronto adquirió dimensión internacional. Alemania e Italia enviaron al bando sublevado material y unidades militares como la Legión Cóndor y el Cuerpo de Tropas Voluntarias. La Unión Soviética suministró aviación, carros de combate y asesores al Gobierno republicano, pagados en buena parte con las reservas de oro del Banco de España trasladadas a Moscú en 1936. Junto a eso unos 35.000 voluntarios extranjeros se integraron en las Brigadas Internacionales, que se retiraron en 1938 cuando la guerra estaba ya prácticamente perdida. El Comité de No Intervención, creado en septiembre de 1936 a instancias de Francia y el Reino Unido, no consiguió impedir que la guerra se internacionalizase. Ambas potencias se mantuvieron al margen. La guerra fue muy costosa en términos humanos y materiales, una auténtica tragedia para un país que ya arrastraba problemas económicos antes de su estallido. El balance fue de aproximadamente medio millón de muertos por todas las causas, de los cuales entre 150.000 y 200.000 correspondieron a operaciones militares y el resto a la represión en ambas zonas, el hambre y las enfermedades. España quedó devastada y tardó mucho en reconstruirse porque, apenas unos meses después de concluir la contienda, comenzó la segunda guerra mundial. Hablamos con Daniel García-Nieto, profesor del IES Miguel de Molinos, sobre la exposición “Actur. Historias de vida del barrio”, que podrá visitarse del 6 de julio al 28 de agosto de 2026, en la sede José Martí del centro cívico Río Ebro del barrio zaragozano del Actur. Se trata de una colección de historias de vida realizada por los alumnos del instituto Miguel de Molinos a través de las cuales los vecinos cuentan la historia de este barrio. El alumnado ha recogido estas historias de vida en un proyecto intergeneracional realizado junto a la Asociación de Vecinos Actur Rey Fernando, creando además una línea del tiempo que recorre algunos de los momentos más importantes de la evolución del Actur y de la sociedad española durante las últimas décadas.

La Organización Interprofesional del Vino de España (OIVE) ha señalado que el vino blanco representa el 57 % de la producción total de vino a abril 2026 para esta campaña, casi ocho puntos por encima que en la campaña 2017/2018. En un informe presentado por la OIVE este lunes, su directora de inteligencia económica, Begoña Olavarría, ha destacado la producción del vino blanco por encima de los tintos y rosados, que bajan y ahora representan el 42,9 % de la producción para la campaña 2025/2026, de acuerdo a los datos de INFOVI analizados por la interprofesional. Por otro lado, el consumo en España sigue con una tendencia a la baja, pues en abril ha registrado una caída del 6,1 % respecto al mismo mes de 2025, hasta los 9,2 millones de hectolitros, de acuerdo al informe. Olavarría nos ha acompañado hoy en 'De puertas al campo'.
