Christ Church Knoxville is devoted to reflecting, applying and extending the grace of God in our community, in our city and to the ends of the earth. Our greatest joy is putting the glory of Jesus Christ as highest in our lives. This podcast highlights our weekly sermon as we come to the Word of God…
Jesus addresses the fundamental errors that lead to ungodliness, and like all sinful ways, we need to change our minds about who Christ claims to be. It is the disciples call to wear humility, learn the context of God's word, and love repentance.
On Sunday, Pastor Will challenged us to consider why the Lord might want a relationship with Him to be built on love rather than performance, intellect, or works.
On Sunday, Pastor Will helped us see that the Sadducees in Matthew 22 wanted to live out of a narrative they constructed rather than submit to the Word of God. Because of this lack of submission, they denied the supernatural power of God and resurrection.
Pastor Robert preaches from Matthew 4 about the in-breaking of the Kingdom of God as the King is here!
Pastor Will continues in Matthew 13 and what is commonly called "The Parable of the Sower," but also could be titled "The Parable of the Four Soils." These verses reveal an important understanding of how the Kingdom of God works with Jesus on the scene in God's redemptive plan.
Pastor Will addresses the invasion of Ukraine and how prayer is always our first action. David, in a moment of calamity, trusts in God alone for deliverance. Prayer is powerful and Christ's Church prays for help.
Pastor Will preaches what Jesus expects of us when we become Christians. Some of the schemes of the world is to pull you away from full commitment, divide your heart, or rest in low obedience. Christ is our full heart, or He is not.
Pastor Will continues preaching in the book of Matthew. John the Baptist sends his disciples to ask Jesus one question about what He is doing. Jesus answers John's question. In Jesus' answer we see Jesus affirm that He is in fact the Messiah, and offers a blessing to those that would not be offended by Him.
Pastor Will preaches the last stand alone sermon from the book of Proverbs on Jealousy and Envy. Letting jealousy and envy fester in our hearts not only damages relationships with others, it also grumbles against God's plan for our lives. If Lady Folly tempts you to be jealous, Lady Wisdom says run away and practice the admiration of others.
Pastor Will preaches about laziness, how to identify it, and how to view work as an act of service to the Lord. Everything that is foolishness can be redeemed. From the sin of obsessive laziness to the work-acholic. The power to work diligently is found in the example of Jesus Christ.
Robert Butler preaches on a timely topic about seeking, trusting, and loving the Lord with all of our heart. By paying attention to where our heart goes and what we give it over to, we can find joy in devoting our heart wholly to Jesus.
Pastor Will preaches on how God can use grief in our lives to give us a greater hope in His steadfast love. With the promises of God guaranteed, we can repent and we can have grace. God's love for us provides hope in the darkest of times.
Ben Spry brings a second sermon on the importance of the Christian faith being built on the word of God. If it were the apostle Paul's departing words to a younger pastor, then it is good for us to remember and revaluate the role that scripture has in our lives, church, and relationships. Paul may pass away, but the legacy he leaves is one that never forgets the word of God.
Pastor Will continues throughout Proverbs exploring the question, "What is wise friendship?" As our relationship with God needs reconciliation, so do all of our relationships with others. Proverbs gives insight on how to have, maintain, and approach relationships with others when sin creates division and tension.
September 19, 2021 - Pastor Will takes a break from Matthew to deliver a mini-series in Proverbs. In chapter 8, Lady Wisdom calls to a young man to learn from her and reject Lady Folly.
Pastor Will preaches from Matthew 10:34-42. The kind of "peace' that Jesus brings and the cost of following Him. As Jesus is sending out His apostles to preach from the rooftops, they will face persecution. Jesus prepares us for the rejection we will face and the promise of a great reward. #sword #reward #peace #managainstfather
