Sermons Archive RSS Hebrews 2:14-18 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, 15 and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage. 16 For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham. 17 Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. 18 For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted.Hebrews 4:14-16 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and favor with God and men.Matthew 13:55-56 “Is this not the carpenters son?” “Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas? And His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this man get all these things?”Matthew 9:36 - But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were wearied and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd.Mark 1:40-41 - Now a leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, you can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”Mark 8:12 – But He sighed deeply in His spirit, and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Assuredly, I say to you, no sign shall be given to this generation.”Mark 3:5 – And when He had looked around at them with anger, being grieved by the hardness of their hearts, He said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he stretched it out, and his hand was restored as whole as the other. Sermon Discussion Questions:Was Jesus 100% God and 100% man or 50% God and 50% man? What are some of the evidences we see in scripture that exhibit His human nature? What are some of the ways that Jesus was tempted here on earth? Why is it so important to us that He underwent temptations on earth? What does this all mean for us today?

Today's advice: Weep like Jesus wept.
Why did Jesus share our flesh and blood, adding humanity to his divinity? To deal with all that stands opposed to our eternal good: I. Jesus disarms the devil, v14. II. Jesus delivers us from death, v15. III. Jesus diverts the wrath of God from us, vv16-17. IV. Jesus delivers help to us in our temptations, v18.
In this sermon, we explore the breathtaking reality of Jesus Christ as fully God and fully man. We'll see how the glory of God shines through “The Divinity & Humanity of Christ.” Because Jesus is truly divine, He is worthy of our complete trust and obedience. Because He is truly human, He understands our weakness, our suffering, and our temptation. As our merciful and faithful high priest(Hebrews 2:17-18), He invites us to approach the throne of grace with confidence, receiving mercy and help in our time of need. Whether you are seeking hope, assurance, or a deeper understanding of who Christ is, this message will point you to the joy, peace, and confidence found in believing in Jesus. Who is Jesus Christ? In this sermon on the deity and humanity of Christ, Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones examines this question, looking at what all of Scripture has to say about the person and work of Jesus Christ. He is given many names: Son of God, Messiah, Lord, and others. This points to the great fact that Jesus is truly divine. He is said to be the creator of the world, omnipotent, and omniscient. He is no mere creature, but He is God in the flesh who came to save His people. But He was also truly a man. He was like humans who are tempted, but He never sinned. He was hungry, cold, and He slept. Yet, He was always still truly God and man as He did all these things. Why does this matter? It matters because who Jesus is cannot be separated from the question of what He has done. On the cross, Jesus died so that all who believe in Him might be saved and made children of God. It is only because He is God and man that He is able to save perfectly.

The fact that Jesus had a human body just like our human bodies is seen in many passages of Scripture. Why did Jesus have to be fully human if he was going to be the Messiah and accomplish our salvation?

In this episode, James Kaczor and I continue discussing the Doctrine of God and the Person of Christ. Here we aim not only to show that the Bible teaches the true humanity of Jesus (that he is "Like us in all respects, apart from sin") but we also aim to draw out some of the theological and practical significance of this reality. Jeremiah 9:23-2423 Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, 24 but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the Lord.”

TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, they kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen.
