Delight Your Marriage | Relationship Advice, Christianity, & Sexual Intimacy
Loving Well When You Feel Down Even the strongest marriages go through hard seasons. Whether you're facing emotional burnout, stress, or feeling spiritually distant, it's easy to feel like you have nothing left to give in your relationship. So how do you love your spouse when you feel depleted? This post is your quick “reset”—a reminder of what really matters in marriage and how to keep moving forward, even when your heart feels heavy. Why Your Marriage Matters in God's Eyes Jesus gave us two commandments that anchor everything else: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Love your neighbor as yourself. And your closest neighbor? It's your spouse. Your marriage is a reflection of how you walk out our love for God. Even when it's hard. What to Do When You Feel Emotionally Empty in Marriage We all go through tough seasons. Illness Financial stress Parenting challenges Mental health struggles It's in these moments that we have to boil it down to the essentials. When you're empty, don't try to fix everything. Just focus on God's call to love—simply and sincerely. Here's what that looks like: Essentials for a Husband: Love Her as Christ Loves the Church What does that mean, practically? Make her feel safe. Don't push, pressure, or demand. Be her steady place. Make her feel known. Ask her about her heart. Get curious about her thoughts, not just her to-do list. Make her feel cherished. Hold her. Smile at her. Take her on a walk. Celebrate her quietly and tenderly. These don't require a perfect mood. They require intentionality. And the reward is deeper connection—even in the middle of life's mess. Essentials for a Wife: Respect, Admiration, and Wholehearted Intimacy This can feel especially hard when you're drained. But again, focus on the essentials: Use respectful words. Even if you're not in the best place emotionally, try phrases like “Thank you for working so hard,” or “I admire how you handled that.” Don't argue or snap. Let kindness guard your tongue, even when emotions are high. Offer intimacy with a full heart. This isn't about obligation. It's about loving your husband in a way he receives love—with joy and generosity, even if you don't initially feel it. When You're Struggling—Love Anyway This is the path Jesus modeled for us. We don't love our spouse because they deserve it. We love them because Jesus asks us to love—sacrificially, tenderly, in the way the other feels loved. When you're struggling and all you can do is offer “just the essentials,” that's enough. God sees your heart. And He blesses your obedience. Final Thoughts Next time you feel like you can't give anything more—come back to this. Read it again. Pray again. Take just one small action. Unity is still possible. Even when you are down. With love, The DYM Team PS - If you're ready to take the next step in healing your marriage, we would love to chat with you. Schedule a free Clarity Call at delightym.com/cc PPS - Here is (another) quote from a recent graduate: "We argued constantly! Literally almost daily. The constant arguing was mentally and physically exhausting! It felt impossible to have peace or joy if my husband was around. It was affecting me so deeply that I was struggling with intense fatigue...[After Delighted Wife], we can actually enjoy each other, we can actually focus on other things. I am not experiencing such intense fatigue all the time and am feeling like I can start getting back to being a productive human. My devotional and prayer time are spent seeking God, seeking Him in the scriptures, trying to catch His heat through His word rather than lamenting and focusing on all the bad. "

Ben Lee began his career as a young teenager in the early 90's, in the Australian lo-fi punk band Noise Addict, who were discovered by Sonic Youth and the Beastie Boys. That began an extraordinary career that has been both eclectic and eccentric. Ben has put out over 20 solo albums that have made romantics swoon for multiple generations and catapulted him to national treasure status. But enough of all that, we're here to talk about fwendship! In this episode, Ben talks about being occasionally guilty of fair-weather friendship, of friendship within cults, setting friendships loose, World Expo 88, showbiz superfriends, the necessity for admiration in friendship, friendship in family, and his perpetual search for romance in all things.CONTACTText - 0431 345 145Email - fwendspod@gmail.comMail - PO Box 24144, Melbourne, Vic, 3001RATE AND REVIEWOf course you've already subscribed or followed the show, now we'd love you to leave a rating and a review. The Beautiful Empty: Lent 2025 March 9 – April 13 Blaise Pascal once spoke of the “God-shaped vacuum” in the heart of every person that can only be filled by God. Yet we spend so much of our lives trying to fill that vacuum with everything but God. When we feel worthless, we seek validation from our work. When we suffer from loneliness, we turn to relationships to save us. When we experience boredom, we binge on entertainment. When we feel overwhelmed or self-conscious, we reach for altered states. The God-shaped hole only grows deeper and wider as we fill it with the things that do not satisfy. But the season of Lent invites us to let go of our attachments and dependencies, emptying ourselves of all our cheap substitutes for God, so we can finally see ourselves for who we really are—needy, imperfect, unfinished, still-becoming people in need of a tender, patient, gracious God. It's only by experiencing our emptiness that the God-shaped hole can finally be filled, healed, and blessed by that which truly satisfies.
This episode contains zero shame, moderate cat hair, and one fully grown adult admitting that life revolves around four-legged roommates with zero chill and excellent bone structure. I talk routines (theirs), boundaries (none), and how I wish I could be a cat for two days. What does perfect narcissism look like? We can see it in the evil of Satan. I read a list the other day about the characteristics of those with narcistic personality disorder. Grandiose Sense of Self-Importance: They believe they are superior and special, deserving of exceptional treatment and recognition. Exploitative Behavior: They manipulate and take advantage of others to get what they want, often without remorse or guilt. Arrogance and Conceit: They often come across as arrogant and boastful, displaying a sense of superiority. Difficulty Handling Criticism: They react negatively to any perceived criticism, becoming defensive and angry. Preoccupation with Success and Power: They are often fixated on fantasies of success, power, brilliance, or beauty. Entitlement: An unreasonable expectation of favorable treatment and special privileges, believing they deserve more than others. Lack of Empathy: Difficulty understanding or sharing the feelings of others, often dismissing or invalidating their emotions. Need for Admiration and Attention: A constant craving for praise, validation, and attention from others, often seeking it through manipulation or grandstanding. Envy: Experiencing envy of others or believing that others are envious of them. Unwillingness to Accept Responsibility: Blaming others for their mistakes or failures, rather than taking accountability for their actions. I think I could add an eleventh characteristic and this comes from those who have been entrapped by a narcissist into a long-term relationship. 11. An Attractive mask: They have such a beautiful, alluring presence to them that it's not until you're deep into a relationship with them that you are able to see behind the facade. Read more here

If so, you're not alone. This is common, especially for online business owners who are constantly exposed to online marketing and eager for quick results. This makes them vulnerable to certain marketing strategies that bypass informed consent and manipulate them into buying. When manipulated, you're likely to regret the purchase or forget why you made it.One prevalent deceptive marketing practice is admiration and agitation marketing. In this Heart-Centred Business Podcast episode, I want to discuss this strategy, highlighting traps and red flags so you can avoid them and prevent buyer's remorse or forgetfulness about purchases.Let's break it down:Admiration and agitation marketing involves two primary strategies, and two more hidden strategies: Building audience admiration, agitating their current state, minimising the workload to transform, and making people feel less-than for not having sorted it yet.1. AdmirationAdmiration comes from marketers boasting about their and their clients' achievements, making you admire them, their results, and their clients' results. Such marketing includes celebrating successes or waking up to five-figure sales. It's not only in business-to-business or marketing spaces; it's seen in parenting, relationships, health, and other niches. It's more frequent where money is involved but extends to other areas.Continue reading and access full show notes at: tashcorbin.com/470Let me know your thoughts via our Text FanMail!

Matthew Hussey revealed “the best relationship advice that no one ever told you” on The Mel Robbins Podcast recently in the form of the “4 Levels” framework. It sounds relatively straightforward: 1) Admiration, 2) Mutual Attraction, 3) Commitment, and 4) Compatibility. But personal experience proves that getting from one level to the next requires risk-taking and emotional vulnerability. So how do you structure these hard conversations with a partner to get to that next level? When we encounter excellence, what prompts us to critique rather than admire? Fr. Mike suggests that this tendency often stems from jealousy and insecurity. He says humans are made to admire all that is praiseworthy. When we witness remarkable talent in athletics, academics, or the arts, we should take the opportunity to commend the hard work and discipline that leads to greatness. God made us to appreciate excellence and work to cultivate it in our own lives.
