In today's episode we sit down with Kathy Charles, Co-writer of the fantastic new horror film, JAKOB'S WIFE. We delve into influences, the beauty of a non-happy ending and the themes that can make some horror films so layered. Kathy Charles is a screenwriter whose Stephen King biopic THE KINGS OF MAINE appeared on both the Hit List and Black List of Hollywood’s best unproduced screenplays. Her first feature, a remake of the horror classic CASTLE FREAK, was released in 2020. She is the co-writer of JAKOB’S WIFE starring Barbara Crampton that premiered at SXSW. She was also a writer on the Orion Pictures horror thriller 10/31 which also appeared on the Black List and Blood List. She is also the author of the novel JOHN BELUSHI IS DEAD published by MTV Books. Kathy was born in Melbourne, Australia and lives in Los Angeles.

Director Paul Solet is known for his work as a writer and director of narrative genre, but this week we speak to him about his gripping new critically acclaimed documentary, TREAD. Tread tells the story of Granby, Colorado man, Marvin Heemeyer, who exacted revenge on his local community in 2004 in the most epic and mind-boggling of ways. Paul Solet dropped by for a discussion about his documentary along with his Production designer, Robb Wilson King and Cinematographer, Zoran Popovic.  

This week Director, William Lustig drops by the theater to discuss the beginnings of his film career all the way through to his company BLUE UNDERGROUND. We cover topics including his partnership with Joe Spinell, his films including MANIAC, MANIAC COP, VIGILANTE, Nicolas Winding Refn's bug elimination technique, and ultimately how Lustig's self-belief and love of film led to a wonderful career in the film industry. William is full of wonderfully entertaining anecdotes, and we are proud to present his episode.

This week Director, Kurt Kuenne came to Cinelounge for a series of special 10 Year anniversary screenings of his acclaimed documentary, DEAR ZACHARY. This film affected people in so many positive ways, and it was our honor to be host to such an important milestone in this film's journey. We chat with Kurt and find out about what has transpired since the film's release and how it has impacted his life.

This week Christian sits down with Brian Yuzna for an in-depth chat about his vast decade-spanning career. Together they explore his early love for the horror genre and how it led to a lifetime in the film business.  Yuzna's credits include Re-Animator, Honey I Shrunk The Kids, Society, The Dentist, Warlock & Return of the Living Dead III.

Adam Egypt Mortimer Speaks DANIEL ISN'T REAL This week we were lucky enough to sit down with very talented Director, Adam Egypt Mortimer. Adam is masterful in creating horror with depth, and he gives us insight into the long journey it took him to get his latest film, DANIEL ISN'T REAL made. From creating music video's to working with Spectrevision and Elijah Wood, his path has been like a jigsaw puzzle coming together to create a great picture! Both filmmakers and film lovers will get a lot out of Adam's willingness to be open and honest about how he achieved his latest contribution to the world of movies.

  The Steed is a 2019 Mongolian drama film directed by Erdenebileg Ganbold. It was selected as the Mongolian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards.[1] It won the Best Feature Film award at the 2019 San Diego International Film Festival This week Christian sits down with THE STEED'S Producers, Trevor Doyle and Alexa Khan to talk about how this epic Oscar contender for Magnolia got made to look like a million bucks on a shoestring!

He's a writer, director, producer and accomplished casting director, David Guglielmo has worn many hats in the business of movies and he explains to us how he has shaped and forged his career through his love of film.  David is currently a Los Angeles based Casting Director and is working with companies such as Cinestate and Fangoria on their slate of films. He is also set to direct his next feature in 2020.      

This week we welcome Director, Rob Lambert to the cinema in anticipation of the release of his film CUCK. CUCK is the story of an isolated and unstable man (Zachary Ray Sherman) who becomes increasingly unhinged as he explores the hateful rhetoric of an online alt-right community. Together we discuss independent filmmaking, personal journey, the importance of character development, and the role that the internet plays in our openness to modern-day storytelling.  

CINELOUNGE PRESENTS This week filmmaker, Nick Psinakis and Actress, Anne Akhila pop into Cinelounge to discuss their indie drama/comedy MY BEST FRIEND'S FAMOUS. Nick and Anne discuss how they managed to pull everything together on a shoestring budget and attract the likes of Ryan O'Neal and Mindy Sterling to their project. Find out how getting the film made is only just the beginning of the process when it comes to delivering and exhibiting a finished product to an audience.

This week Christian talks about ultra-independent film's place in awards season, and we hear from Bridget Stokes, Rita Wilson and Nora Dunn about feel-good movie BOY GENIUS. BOY GENIUS is a film we showed that had a lot of hype and a stellar cast including Rita Wilson, Nora Dunn, and Miles Brown. Director Bridget Stokes was able to share with us her journey in independent filmmaking and how she was able to pull together such a great movie and cast.
