The horror community continues to be rocked with sad news. Bruce Campbell's announcement is one of the most painful. The latest installment of the Scream franchise has polarized audiences, but has not stopped it from being a success. Will the Maniac Cop reboot do as well? There is no doubt that Corey Feldman was one of the biggest stars of the 1980s. What has been lost in all the nonsense that has plagued his life since then is what an amazing actor he was. We jumped at the chance to review Corey Feldman vs the World. In a documentary filled with shocking moments, the biggest may be that it has little to do with his acting heyday and is still a riveting watch. It can be described as a cautionary tale, a trashy reality show, and a story about a villain who is also a victim. With unprecedented access and an interesting approach to documentary filmmaking, it is a must-watch. There was a time when exploitation movies did not care about story. It was all about characters and moments and pushing things to the extreme. It did not always work out, but the results were pretty amazing when it did. Still, with the changing times came a decrease in these types of films. Dolly is a throwback to those simpler times. It is a battle for survival that is all about gore and attrition. It will end up being one of the most disgusting things released this year. The protagonist/antagonist dynamic is fantastic and the grainy look adds to the tense atmosphere. Horror movies, holiday slashers, and classic monster mayhem collide in this episode of This Week in Horror History, covering December 8–14 in spooky cinema. We dig into the releases, icons, and deep cuts that shaped horror long before Christmas morning ever arrived. This week's watch list includes:Christine (1983) – John Carpenter's sleek, icy adaptation of Stephen King's killer-car novel. We look at how this haunted Plymouth went from a modest box office performer to a cult favorite thanks to its mood, music, and vicious metal-on-flesh set pieces. The Wolfman (1941) – Lon Chaney Jr.'s tragic Larry Talbot helped define the sympathetic monster and rewrote the rules for werewolf lore. We talk legacy, atmosphere, and why this frosty Universal chiller still plays perfectly on a cold December night.Scream 2 (1997) – Meta slashers head to college as Sidney Prescott and Ghostface return in a sequel that should've fizzled but absolutely works. Film theory, sequel rules, and late-'90s horror energy all collide in one of the most successful slasher follow-ups ever.Maniac Cop 2 (1990) – An undead cop, wild stunts, and a grimy New York that feels like a haunted maze. We spotlight why this over-the-top sequel is a cult gem for fans of action-horror hybrids. We also roll through a birthday crawl for some horror legends: Rick Baker, Vampira, Bill Nighy, and Dee Wallace, celebrating how their work reshaped monsters, ghosts, and genre weirdos across decades. In our “Then and Now: Meta Slashers” segment, we use Scream 2 as a jumping-off point to talk about how self-aware horror evolved—from '90s snark to today's nostalgia-driven, legacy-sequel era. And for your weekly recommendation, we head back to the 1950s with Tarantula (1955), a giant-spider creature feature that channels Cold War anxieties into big, creepy fun and pairs beautifully with other atomic-age monster flicks. All that plus our sponsor Cozy Earth— 41% off with Promo Code SPOOKY ultra-comfy bedding perfect for staying warm while you binge horror history marathons in December. If you love horror podcasts, classic monster movies, '80s Stephen King adaptations, and meta slasher sequels, this week's trip through the dates will fill your holiday season watchlist and keep your nights eerie all December long.
The third episode of Thankful For Action November is a battle of the cops, Robert Z'Dar otherwise known as Maniac Cop vs Mathew Karedas the Samurai Cop. They're gonna clash blades, and eat bullets in a fierce battle in which only one can survive. Jesse was unable to handle the intense action of the film and had to bail out, luckily our Robert Z'Dar specialist Kenneth Leonard decided to step in his spot. Before we can talk a movie this intense we have to work our way up to it with a few trailers. In this episode we talk the trailers for Primate, and Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.Then it's onto the main feature where Kenneth and Josh will let you know whether or not Samurai Cop is... It's become a Halloween Week tradition to discuss some Maniac Cop, and now that tradition concludes as we talk Maniac Cop 3: Badge of Silence on Episode 177 of The Bulletproof Podcast! Join Chris the Brain, "The Toyman" Chris DePetrillo, Ryan Campbell, and Chad Cruise for a spooktacular discussion of the third and final installment in the Maniac Cop franchise. Maniac Cop III: Badge of Silence (or The Bride of Maniac Cop if Matt Cordell got his way). The behind the scenes issues, the runtime padding, the greatness of Robert Davi, the Die Hard reunion, and Spiro Razatos elevating the movie are among the talking points. Like a typical reaction to Erik's joke of the week, you have the right to remain silent - forever - with Bill Lustig's 1988 officer of the law action-slasher, Maniac Cop. We're joined by listener, Austin Stenberg, to discuss this offbeat tale of a police officer gone rogue for murder.
Your Stupid Minds starts its spooktacular October with a Spanish/Italian collab that numerous Letterboxd reviews describe as "giallo meets Scooby Doo," presumably because there's one mask reveal and some Italians are involved. It's 1972's The Murder Mansion! After an "exciting" car/motorcycle chase, speed demon Fred (Andrés Resino) steals comely hitchhiker Laura (Lisa Leonardo) from sweaty creep Mr. Porter (Franco Fantasia). Meanwhile, neurotic divorcee Elsa (Analía Gadé) races off into the foggy night with some other people. They all find themselves lost in the fog (even after Fred asks directions from the Grim Reaper) and end up at the titular murder mansion, an old house in the foothills of Spain with its very own cemetery! It's overseen by the young Martha Clinton, a descendant of the house's original satanic inhabitants. Soon, strange things begin to occur, not entirely spurred by Fred's morbid fascination with going to the basement. A lumbering chauffeur (not unlike Maniac Cop or Tor Johnson) and an old woman (not unlike Vampiria or an elderly version of Martha) keep menacing the house guests. Is the house really supernatural, or is there a a more earthly, Giallo-like explanation? How many times will Fred go to the basement? Will a murder ever happen in the murder mansion? You'll just have to listen to find out!
Send us a textIt's not a tumor, it's Filmshake! And we're talking 1990's Kindergarten Cop. Arnie only appeared in 12 movies in the 90's, so we're trying to stay as patient as Chekhov's Ferret in covering them, but now, for the 35th anniversary, it's time to go back to elementary school with the Governator! After all, we don't want to be soft and lack discipline! Speaking of, we're also talking our punishment film, 1990's direct-to-video trash, Maniac Cop 2. This is a movie that at least knows it isn't worthy of a roman numeral. That doesn't mean we can't enjoy it! ...or...er...parts of it. ARTivist Jil Love and comedian Jamie Gendron joined Mark and Hannah on The Dark Mark Show. Jil followed up her protest where she put a gold toilet on Donald Trump's star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame by actually building a wall adjacent to the star. With the help of prosthetics master Cleve Hall her naked body was made up to look like it was made of concrete so that she could look like she is bursting from the wall. She also left art supplies, tomatoes and eggs and let the tourists in Hollywood do what they wanted and wait until you hear what they did. Jamie spilled the tea on some men she was with, both in the Hollywood scene and in New Orleans. She finally settles the long awaited question: who is bigger in the pants Eddie Murphy or River Phoenix. She also spills the tea on everyone from Robert D'Zar of Maniac Cop fame and Larry Linville aka Frank Burns from MASH. She also has a lot of things to say about Donald Trump, Kevin Hart, Ellen Degeneres and Louis CK. Join Justin as he chats with director and producer Bill Lustig about the preservation of cult cinema, his uncle Jake “Raging Bull” LaMotta, jump-starting his career behind the scenes in adult films, Maniac, and more!William "Bill" Lustig bio:"William Lustig was born on February 1, 1955 in Bronx, New York. During his teenage years, Lustig avidly watched a huge volume of lowdown and trashy exploitation fare at numerous 42nd Street grind house theaters in Manhattan and also worked as a movie theater usher in Fort Lee, New Jersey. After graduating from high school, he took a few film classes at New York University.Lustig began his film career in his mid to late teens, working behind-the-scenes in various minor production capacities on a handful of hardcore X-rated porno pictures as well as a production assistant on both "The Seven Ups" and "Death Wish." He made his debut as a director, producer and editor with the hardcore porn features "Hot Honey" and "The Violation of Claudia." Lustig directed both of these movies under the alias Billy Bagg.In 1980, Lustig found himself at the center of a storm of controversy when he made the grim, gory and disturbing slasher sleaze splatter landmark "Maniac," which boasts an incredibly intense performance by the legendary character actor Joe Spinell as a vicious depraved psychopath and plenty of hideously graphic and gruesome make-up effects by horror genre icon Tom Savini. In 1982, Lustig followed up "Maniac" with the tough, gritty and exciting New York urban revenge opus "Vigilante." In 1988, he delivered another winner with the terrific "Maniac Cop," a violent horror action flick about an undead New York police officer on a killing spree which was the first of several cinematic collaborations with fellow maverick independent filmmaker Larry Cohen.Lustig followed up with the 1989 stirring action item "Hit List" and the suspenseful serial killer thriller "Relentless" were likewise on the money excellent and entertaining offerings. However, the two "Maniac Cop" sequels were strictly hit-or-miss affairs: the second one was a worthy successor to the superior original and the third one was a regrettably mediocre entry in the series. Lustig's last film as a director to date was the nifty and enjoyable fright flick "Uncle Sam."Since 1997, William Lustig went on to initially produce retrospective DVD documentaries for Anchor Bay and now currently runs the outstanding DVD label Blue Underground which restores and re-releases popular and little seen cult movies and other grind house action, drama, and horror films."Monsters, Madness and Magic Official Website. It's showtime, maniacs! This episode is a monumental occasion for many reasons. Not only is A Comedy Of Horrors coming to an end, not only is it our seven year anniversary, but it's also Gregg's final episode as a full-time host. For these reasons, we had to end on an absolute home run, so we're prepping for the upcoming sequel and discussing Beetlejuice from 1988. Grab a Zagnut and tune in as we break down the flick and talk about other topics such as the inexplicable Pittsburgh connections to this movie, Alkaline Trio suits versus Smash Mouth suits, and how this PG movie is definitely not for kids. Drop that Caramello and check out our Patreon! This month we play a little game Gregg cooked up called Pit Or Pass? Six songs have been selected, all cover songs by late 90s and early 00s nu-metal bands, and we decide whether we hit the pit if it's good or we check out the merch booth if it's bad. For as little as $2 a month you can get in on the action as well with bonus episodes, Discord privileges, livestreams, exclusive merchandise and more! This episode contains Pittsburgh acting legend Michael Keaton, so you probably want more episodes featuring actors from Pittsburgh! Check out our previous episodes containing the work of Tom Atkins: Halloween III (episode 7), Night Of The Creeps (episode 52), The New Kids (episode 87), Creepshow (episode 104), Maniac Cop (episode 130), and The Fog (episode 296). We've also discussed the late great Kevin Peter Hall in Predator (episode 204) and One Dark Night (episode 301). And who could forget Jeff Goldblum in The Fly (episode 76)?
This week Jim has meter madness, Elton cranks it over curtains and has to deal with [ALBATROS!] the most refined literary author but also a dab hand with a lethal hardback taekwondo fighting. Darren goes "oop north" and inadvertantly ends up in the Lincolnshire version of a Steven King novel while he looks for a shop in the middle of nowhere. And Lee?... Well... Best he can do is dazzle you with a sparkly toilet seat. Then after some brief feedback we move on to an even briefer review... A film that seems ideal remake material because it couldn't be any worse than the original. This week we review the utterly tedious Maniac Cop
In this week's episode, we dig deep into the world of police work in the 1988 film "Maniac Cop." Special topics for your consideration include: Is Tom Atkins hot? Does Tom Atkins fuck a young beautiful woman? Does Tom Atkins pull off a weird trench coat look? (My answers are no/no/sorta, yeah!) And guys listen. You know we tend to have an ACAB stance on our show, so if you're gonna get salty and feel the need to reach out to us about it, please do me a favor and just don't. Tom Atkins!
