Actor, writer, comedian, and filmmaker Kiran Deol joins Abhay to talk about leading the new indie film Didn't Die, navigating grief in a zombie apocalypse, and why humor is her sharpest tool for both survival and joy. She shares how playing Vinita—a podcaster in the middle of a black‑and‑white biter outbreak, losing family while chasing career—stretched her as an artist and forced her to embrace risk, unlikability, and deep trust with her director. They dive into perfectionism in South Asian culture, the pressure to be excellent, and her intention this year to prioritize fun, play, and what feels good in her work. Kiran breaks down how stand‑up, the Hysteria podcast, and her comedy special JoySuck (free online and streaming on Amazon Prime) help her reframe anger and sadness, find optimism in grim times, and get those metaphorical “dicks off our backs.” She and Abhay also unpack internet trolls, the realities of algorithms, why not everyone has to like you, and how artists can be braver about calling things out instead of staying passive.Chapters/Timestamps00:00 Introduction 03:04 Exploring the Role in 'Didn't Die'06:03 Navigating Humor and Grief08:49 The Art of Stand-Up Comedy11:35 Identity and Representation in Hollywood14:01 Sponsor Break - Travelopod14:46 Navigating Identity in Performance20:26 Unlearning and Evolving22:02 The Role of Humor in Coping22:58 Sponsor Break - RuffRest23:32 JoySuck, Cultural Expectations, and Artistic Freedom28:58 Crafting Your Own Narrative Kiran Deol on IMDb - https://www.imdb.com/name/nm1234567/Didn't Die (Film) - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234567/JoySuck (Comedy Special) on Amazon Prime - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XYZ1234It's March, so shout out to Ishan Sharma and (Coach) Amit Tailor and all the College Hoops fans out there. On this episode we debated a social media post directed at Táiniste Simon Harris which wished him DEAD. We asked if anyone, politician or otherwise, should have to put up with such vile comments.
Kaitlyn Bristowe sits down with Bobby for a wild, honest catch-up that starts with their DWTS baggage, Tom Bergeron’s “OUCH” line, the show’s mental toll, and Kaitlyn admitting she literally slept with a fake mirrorball trophy to manifest a win. Bobby also owns up to kind of regretting sending his trophy back, and Kaitlyn reminds him he still earned it. Then Kaitlyn gets real about Bachelor fame, being labeled a polarizing “character,” negotiating her worth, and how the internet loves to pigeonhole you. The two swap stories on therapy, hyper-independence, and growing up around addiction, plus Bobby opens up about why he doesn’t drink and how fear has fueled his whole career. This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit wisdomofcrowds.liveA few years ago, Lea Ypi was scrolling through Facebook when she came across a family photo she had never seen before. Someone had discovered a photograph of Ypi's grandparents on their honeymoon and posted it on a public Facebook group. Ypi — a philosophy professor from Albania who teaches at the London School of Economics — was dismayed by the comments on the photograph, which ranged from inaccurate to judgmental to just plain mean. Were the husband and wife in this photo Albanian aristocrats? Fascist collaborators? Victims of Communism? Responding to the trolls — as well as, as she puts it, “taking the trolls seriously” — Ypi decided to write a book reconstructing her grandparents' story. The result is Indignity: A Life Reimagined, a book which asks, among other things, what does human dignity really mean? What makes this book even more interesting is that Ypi's grandparents lived through some of the most dramatic moments in the twentieth century: the fall of the Ottoman Empire, the rise of Fascism, and World War II. Ypi joins Damir and Santiago, who want to understand Ypi's own philosophical priors. Damir wants to know where moral responsibility ends and and the structural forces of history begin. Santiago asks whether dignity, as a concept, has a metaphysical foundation. The result is a wide-ranging conversation that covers history, literature, philosophy and more.In our bonus section for paid subscribers, Santiago asks Ypi about the difference between Fascist and Communist decision-making; Damir presses Ypi on the question of free will; Ypi discusses her two-point prescription for a better Europe; Santiago asks Ypi whether it's hard to write about one's country in a foreign language; and finally, Ypi's hot take on Zohran Mamdani.Required Reading:* Lea Ypi, Indignity: A Life Reimagined (Amazon). * Lea Ypi, Free: Coming of Age at the End of History (Amazon). * Immanuel Kant, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals (Amazon). * Friedrich Schiller, On the Aesthetic Education of Man (Amazon). Critics and fans appreciated the show's unique voice and Maron's candid storytelling. While it didn't achieve mainstream popularity, "Maron" garnered a loyal fanbase and solid reviews throughout its run. Will the S1E1 relate to a show that centers around podcasting? Trolls have basically taken possession of the U.S. government. How have trolls been able to go from being mostly cordoned off in dark parts of the internet to gaining so much influence in American culture and politics? Our guest this week has spent years researching and reporting on-the-ground to learn more about how the battle online between the right and the left has moved into the real world. Elle Reeve is a correspondent at CNN and the author of “Black Pill: How I Witnessed the Darkest Corners of the Internet Come to Life, Poison Society, and Capture American Politics.” She joins WITHpod to discuss the politics of “black pilled” and “red pilled” young men, the ways in which online extremism so often translates into political violence and more.

The world is on fire (literally and figuratively), but Sarah is showing how she can use her talents and skills to help those in need. We revel in the joy that is women's sports and wonder why some men are bothered by their existence. Sarah was trolled by a man online who criticized her snowboarding skills, and we hear what happened when she messaged him to try to change his mind about how he treats women. Sarah talks about a famous misogynist whose feelings about women might come from his own insecurities. We discuss the perils of being short in the dating world, but how men can overcome it with a little BDE. Sarah asks Susie to explain what water feels like, and we learn why that question is almost impossible to answer. We find out a shocking bit of animal trivia, but Susie questions the data. She also won't accept the number of trees there is on Earth, so maybe the problem is her inability to accept shocking information.Listen to more podcasts like this: https://wavepodcastnetwork.comJoin our Candy Club, shop our merch, sign-up for our free newsletter, & more by visiting The Brain Candy Podcast website: https://www.thebraincandypodcast.comConnect with us on social media:BCP Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastSusie's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterSarah's Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBCP on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodSponsors:Get an exclusive 20% off your first order at https://thrivecausemetics.com/BRAINCANDYFor a limited time get 40% off your first box PLUS get a free item in every box for life.
