Hey Friends Welcome back to the "Left of Str8 Show,” Interviews. I am your host as always Scott Fullerton and I'm excited to be able to talk to celebrities and personalities from the worlds of Entertainment, Foodies, Books, Music and Advocacy, all for our lgbtq community and straight allies. We are kicking off the Christmas season today with my two special guests in studio today. Directing duo, Paul Schneider and Alicia Schneider have a new holiday movie now streaming on the fantastic Tello streaming network, titled, “A Holiday, ‘I Do.'” The movie is Paul's 3rd time in the direct chair and Alicia's first, on a script they both inspired. Y'all know I love me my holiday Christmas movies and though Lifetime and Hallmark are both getting more inclusive, they are no match for the work they are doing over at Tello Films, a company geared toward creating great content for our lesbian community and this 4th entry I believe into the holiday market. I am excited to talk to these two filmmakers on how this project came to be and kickoff the joy of the season here on the Left of Str8 Radio Network. So let's welcome Paul and Alicia to the show Be sure to check out my guest's website: www.aholidayido.com www.tellofilms.com and their Social Media. Today's Show we have two of my favorite people both inside and outside of the podcast. They were two of my early guests in Season 1 and I have been honored to get to know them in person as well as through the show. Emerson Collins is a writer, producer, director and actor, all of which he has won numerous regional awards for. Blake McIver is a singer, actor, director and producer who has been in the business since an early age. Together they are a powerhouse duo complementing each other professionally and personally, having dated for many years. We talk all about their busy year, how even in busy years, today's industry has a lot of unknowns and you have to hustle in and out of the business. Directors Aaron Moorhead & Justin Benson chat to Giles Alderson and Robbie McKane about their feature film 'Synchronic', a mind-altering, sci-fi thriller, horror starring Hollywood stars Jamie Dornan (The Fall, Fifty Shades of Grey franchise) and Anthony Mackie (The Avengers franchise, Detroit) as two New Orleans paramedics who encounter a series of horrific deaths linked to a designer drug. On this episode we talk about co-directing and how they managed multiple jobs, including Aaron as a cinematographer, Justin who wrote the screenplay and producing together. We dive deep into their history and the films that they've made before. The first one being 'Resolution', their second, 'Spring' and their third one 'The Endless'. We also dip into their fifth movie a little bit as well, which they made during lockdown.  At the moment, they are making 'Moon Knight' for Marvel. We also talk about why when it comes to making movies you should 'just do it'. We talk about investment, how you can get it and how the boys managed to do so on subreddit. We also talk about relationships in film and having cool strategies for getting people on board. We chat about their writing process and how you should prep and shot-list a movie. I won't lie to y'all when I say I almost got choked up by how passionate I felt about this particular episode... If you listen close enough, you hear it at some point. But because I feel like there's this strange narrative for black women in the film industry, I wanted to speak my piece and let them know I am 200% behind what they're standing for, and 300% proud of what's happening. Black Queens, this is an episode dedicated to y'all and the hard work being put into film, both on and off screen. It's much appreciated. Enjoy, people.
