How do you spell zoo-kee-nee? Who should be learning the lesson of the week? What does this restaurant serve, and why am I not allowed to eat it here? We answer these questions and more as we get down with Family Matters Season 2, Episode 2. Alex Diamond, David Kenny, and John McDaniel heard that the long-running network sitcom Family Matters ends with side character Steve Urkel going to space. And the best way to figure out how that happened - obviously - is to watch the last episode first and make our way backwards through nearly ten years of television.Join our countdown to number one (and our slow descent into madness) in all the places you expect internet people to be:Website: jumpingtheshuttle.spaceEmail: jumpingtheshuttle@gmail.comInstagram: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Twitter: @JumpingShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577TikTok: @JumpingTheShuttle / @ThatAlexD / @dak577Brought to you by Smooth My Balls
Career success in Hollywood is often measured in unusual ways... Some have Oscars and Emmys to show for their work. And some who have had career longevity, have their arms. Specifically when their credits are as long as their arm.Another small hint of making it in Hollywood is if you casually used to hang out with Marlon Brando…This is Still Here Hollywood. I'm Steve Kmetko. Join me with today's guest, and man with credits that are several arms long, best known for his role on the groundbreaking St. Elsewhere, Ed Begley, Junior. St. Eliguis is far from the most prestigious hospital in the Boston area. It's old, dirty, but it definitely has dedicated doctors and nurses. We meet way too many doctors to keep track of, but we focus on Dr. Morrison. He is burnt out but spending his time taking care of a girl who possibly has a parasite. We don't know yet, but he will find out. Also, one doctor is spreading and STD through the hospital and another is trying to build its reputation by going on TV. Listen at the end for a trivia question so you can possibly win something!
We welcome actor David Morse, star of “The Green Mile,” “St Elsewhere,” and many other great works from stage and screen, to talk about his new project: “Cabrini.” Randy and David talk about his work with Tom Hanks as well as the subject of his new movie: Francesca Cabrini, an Italian nun who came to the U.S. to care for poor and homeless immigrants in New York City, in the process, becoming an entrepreneur and a canonized saint.

For this episode, the guys revisit Gnarls Barkley's breakout debut, St. Elsewhere. The album's influence runs deep by today's standards, but do they get the proper recognition?
We got a chance to have a chat with a bonafide celebrity, Ed Begley Jr. As well as being a TV and Hollywood actor, Ed is a long-time environmental activist, and in those terms, Ed is a man who walks the walk, not just red carpets. Jeff got in touch with him to speak about the Platinum LEED house he was able to build following the success of his reality TV show. The interview was actually conducted for Passive House Plus magazine, but we thought it might work as a podcast episode too, so we recorded it and have a version ready to put out as a bonus episode on the Zero Ambitions feed.We talked about Ireland, what it's like to be a sustainability-focused person promoting better practice in a land of overconsumption, his long-time interest in environmentalism, the challenges of any resource-conscious building project, and Ed's three pillars for driving progress in sustainability activism.**SOME SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**We don't actually earn anything from this, and it's quite a lot of work, so we have to promote the day jobs.Join the AECB Join ACANSubscribe and advertise with Passive House Plus (UK edition here too)Email Alex and Dan about websites, branding, and communications (zap@eiux.agency; Everything is User Experience)**END OF SELF-PROMOTING CALLS TO ACTION**

What's the perfect reward for loyal viewers of a beloved TV show? How about a finale that not only obliterates the preceding 136 episodes, but puts in jeopardy more than 400 other series, including “I Love Lucy” and “Cheers?” In 1988, NBC did just that when it aired the final episode of "St. Elsewhere," a medical drama whose legacy is best described as “what the hell did they just do?” Rob gives Ray a lesson in the history of the best and worst television series finales; Bobbi Wygant's interview techniques; the far-reaching impacts of crossover episodes; and how the Mother of Dragons has nothing on Tommy Westphall. Tina reads “St Elsewhere” by Masoud Golsorkhi At the height of the golden age of globalisation, the thing that seemed to unite all mankind was the desire to be elsewhere. If you imagine any social scenario from our recent past, you will find that without the desire for, or benefits of, travel, few people, or things would be left in the picture. The internet was supposed to negate geography; in reality, it turned it into another currency of exchange, maybe the most commonly traded commodity of the new millennium. Tina reads from Masoud Golsorkhi's editor's letter from the “Travel” issue of TANK, “St Elsewhere”.

Zach and Nas tackle the first two episodes of one of TV's most renowned shows! This intense hospital drama series had it all: terrorists, romance, and STDs. As a remarkable slice of 1980s workplace culture, we dissect how the show portrays the long hours, medical maladies, and bizarre casual racism exhibited by Mr. Feeny (William Daniels.) In what was one of the first types of shows of its time, Zach discusses the legacy of St. Elsewhere as found in more modern dramas.Small spoiler alert: This show does not pass the Bechdel test.We watched the first two episodes, currently available on Hulu

One of the only New Word Pictures movies to not make money. It's easy to see why - it's about cockfighting. When you make a movie about cockfighting, you have to show a lot of cocks fighting which makes it a hard watch. On a positive note, we learned Eric used to love The Squirrel Nut Zippers and Ryan knows everything there is to know about St Elsewhere. So, all is not lost. Enjoy.

Can we really ever trust what's being shown on screen? First we prove how you can tie almost all of television back to the 80's hospital drama St. Elsewhere. Then we take a look at the seriously dark machinations happening behind the tv show Rugrats. It's an all television week as we dive into the weird alternate takes on show universes.
Brother J thinks M:I-2 is hot garbage. Drew and Eric don’t convince him otherwise but they do discuss ER, St Elsewhere, David Morrell’s Fraternity of the Stone, Disney Plus, Star Trek: The Next Generation, VR gaming, HVAC, and heart attack snow. This week, we return to Boston and travel to the very center of the Tommy Westphall Universe to talk about classic hospital drama St. Elsewhere. Betty White pays a visit to investigate the condition of an astronaut, Denzel Washington and Alfre Woodard get cozy, an amnesiac decides he's Mary Richards...much to the consternation of "The Bob Newhart Show's" Mr. Carlin.
Mark had the honor of speaking with David Friedman! David has been on many of the most popular tv shows from the 1980s such as Chips, Several Waltons movies, Mama’s Family, Amazing Stories, St Elsewhere, Mr Belvedere, The New Leave it to Beaver, The Burning Bed, Highway to Heaven and of course if you’re listening to this show you know him best as Jason Carter, please welcome to the show David Friedman. Episode 4 - "This man is not a doctor, he is a menace! Yes, he’s a public health disaster!" In which we swoon over David Morse & a young Denzel Washington & agree that if you have to yell that you're not being racist, you most definitely being racist. From 1982, this is only our second medical drama on the donut! There's a lot to love in this show about a run-down hospital with more crazy characters than we could count. Did we mention it also stars Ed Begley Jr.?
The boys unearth the real secret as to why Howie Mandel won't shake hands. They discuss Ferris Bueller's rough day off and other great stuff.
Episode 505 Christina Pickles joins us to talk about her 2018 Emmy nomination for her role as "Biz" in the hilarious webseries "Break A Hip"! She is an Emmy and Tony winner and we have seen here in many roles including on "St Elsewhere", and as Ross and Monica's mom on "Friends"! A great guest! Hello Internet! Welcome back to Ugly Talk, a show wherein we discuss RPGs, film, computer games, and the important elements that make each of these things work and how we can tie them back to the traditional games media. This month we are discussing the new Star Wars, how it compares to the original and prequel trilogies, and what we can learn from JJ Abrams work on George Lucas' Franchise in adapting our own collaborative stories within an established setting. For this episode, Matt and Travis are joined by Kevin Colmar of The Drunk and the Ugly, who is currently in the process of running Fate Ascendant, a Star Wars game set during the Old Republic Era using the Edge of the Empire system. We will also get off-topic many times and discuss things like how St Elsewhere decanonized reality.

Adam, Erica, and Saber try to get a podcast going.
Sean and Scott discuss totally tubular things from the 80's.
It's the inaugrial One-Quest's PodQuest! We're still working on the name. . . In this first outing we're live at South Jersey Geek Fest. Chris, Eric, Drootin, Walnut, and Pisko all join in and discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Super Smash Bros, and get plenty sidetracked! Some of our highlights include: Twin Peaks' ties to other shows results in Pisko thinking we're all part of an austistic childs imagination. We don't realize til days later that the show was actually St Elsewhere. Plenty of false starts talking about Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier multiple, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general. David Tennant apparently narrates Kinnect Sports Rivals and should have used Alons-y all the time, Walnut thinks he'd be in better shape if that were real We don't much like the Illuminati Eric confuses Boys 2 Men with Jackson Five Walnut makes Captain America a G.I. Joe in Steve Rogers American Hero. Agents of SHIELD is cool as we talk about 0-8-4 and GH325 (mistakenly GH326) Thanos and all his Death loving stuff including Infinity Gaunlet We like the new Pokemon in Smash Bros and Sheik and Zero Suit Samus are seperate characters We muse about Pokemon Final Smashes having them Go Mega Megaman has a pretty cool Final Smash And Toon Link keeps on being lame And to hell with clone characters! Finally we finish up talking about whether we think it's a good idea to release the 3DS and Wii U versions of Smash Bros months apart.
