Commentary Club

This week we have a special release of a previously only for Patreons episode - a commentary for the classic magic fantasy from Disney, Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), featuring witchcraft vs nazis - what more do you want?

We begin a rewatch of the second series of the League of Gentlemen, starting with Episode 1 - Destination: Royston Vasey - where we will meet new characters, fresh horrors, and a new dark saga begins...

This week we look at the little seen 1987 sci-fi flop Time Guardian, which features Carrie Fisher and Dean Stockwell doing their level best to minimise their involvement in this dreck.

We watch the episode 6 of the first series of the League of Gentlemen - Escape From Royston Vase - the thrilling grand finale of the New Road saga! 

This week we revisit The Thing - the 1982 John Carpenter remake that initially flopped badly at the box office, but has since been reappreciated as a masterful exercise in suspense, paranoia and alien body horror!

We return to the League of Gentlemen with Series 1 episode 5 - Love Comes To Royston Vasey, which sounds delightful but completely isn't! But it does feature classic appearances from failed rock star Les McQueen and Mick the cave tour guide... 

To celebrate that special day of the year when everyone pretends to Irish and drinks too much, we are watching in famous cult classic Leprechaun 4: In Space starring the legendary Warwick Davis and Guy Siner from British sitcom 'Allo 'Allo!

This week we revisit a classic from 1990, the mind-bending sci-fi action epic Total Recall starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone, directed by Paul Verhoeven, and with special make-up effects from the legendary Rob Bottin.

We return to our rewatch of the League of Gentlemen with Series 1 episode 4 - The Beast of Royston Vasey! Featuring a curious autopsy, a visit to Luigi's restaurant, and the first appearance of incompetent theatre group Legz Akimbo...

This week it is a (possibly) crap movie, obscure slasher Tourist Trap (1979) starring Chuck Connors, Tanya Roberts, and a load of dummies... No, literally, a load of dummies! 

For our traditionally highly inappropriate Valentine's Day special, we are watching the 2009 remake of My Bloody Valentine starring Jenson Ackles and Jaime King, numerous pickaxes, and roughly sixty gallons of blood... 

We return to our rewatch of the League of Gentlemen with Series 1 episode 3 - Nightmare in Royston Vasey! Featuring the death by compressed air, an egregious interview role play, and something nasty, but certainly local, dug up on the site of New Road... 

We return with one of the all-time great cult movies - Dark Star (1974). Written by Dan O'Bannon and the first movie directed by John Carpenter, this student film became a cult film and huge influence on science fiction

We watch the sixth episode of The Box of Delights - Leave Us Not Little, Nor Yet Dark, which sees the final struggle for the Box between Kay Harker and Abner Brown

For our Christmas special this year we are going back to 1947 to revisit The Bishop's Wife, a charming celestial comedy set at Yuletide starring Cary Grant, David Niven and Loretta Young.

"You want the past? Oh I'll send you back... Back, back where you will never be found!"  We watch the fifth episode of The Box of Delights - Beware of Yesterday, in which Kay takes a perilous journey into the past.

For our classic film selection for this December, we revisit a seasonal favourite, the original Die Hard(1988) the film that made Bruce Willis a mega star and maybe the best action movie ever made!

"It's the old Punch and Judy man! But he must be five hundred... seven hundred years old!"  We watch the fourth episode of The Box of Delights - The Spider in the Web, more scrobbling sends Kay to search for Abner's headquarters 

In this show, for our crap film selection, we attempt to get festive with the alleged rom com A Very British Christmas (2019) which at least was filmed in the beautiful Yorkshire town of Knaresborough!

Did you know there was a Titanic II? In this podcast we wish we didn't, as we tackle this dubious 2010 mockbuster pretend sequel from The Asylum!

For our traditional wildly inappropriate movie for Valentine's Day this year, we picked a romantic comedy... from Tommy Wirkola, director of the Dead Snow films! The Trip (2021) has Noomi Rapace and Aksel Hennie as a couple off for a romantic break where they plan to kill each other! 

For our cult movie selection, we are sticking with kaiju movies, and revisiting Gamera: Guardian of the Universe (1995), the first movie in of the Heisei series for Godzilla's great rival monster!

First show of a new year and we are looking at an all-time classic - the original King Kong from 1933!

For our New Year's podcast, we thought we'd watch an old Top of the Pops end of year special from the 1980s! And we had such fun - and we so *ahem* merry - we did another one from 1970s too! Best enjoyed after a wobble of bine or two...
