This week we cover a movie which David Lynch has disowned, and we discuss why that might not be a bad decision. We also discuss the things we like about big budget Lynch, and why this is such an important step on David Lynch's directorial journey. We, then, dive into the plot, and talk about the things we liked and didn't like. Finally, we each pair the film with another for a pair of double bills.Thank you so much for listening!Created by Spike Alkire & Jake KelleyTheme Song by Breck McGoughFollow us on Instagram: @DoubleBillChillLetterboxd: FartsDomino44

Reel Britannia podcast - a very British podcast about very British movies...with just a hint of professionalism. Scott and Steven are joined this week by their dear friend Mark, host of The Good, The Bad and The Odd podcast, to discuss an overlooked movie from 1972 starring Oliver Reed, Edward Woodward, Ian McShane, Frank Finlay, Freddie Jones and Jill St John. Revenge, car chases, prison escapes...what more you could ask for? Sitting Target (1972) A killer has one more victim on his hit list – his faithless wife! Oliver Reed snarls and seethes his way through a brute-force 70's crime thriller in the tradition of Get Carter. Douglas Hickox, who would go on to helm such memorable films as Theatre of Blood and Zulu Dawn, brings his filmmaking intensity to a story of revenge set in a London as bleak and brooding as the prison from which convicted killer Harry Lomart (Reed) and his fellow inmate (Ian McShane) escape. Once free, Harry sets out to exterminate his seductive wife (Jill St. John), who carries another man's child. Armed with a handgun, fueled by rage, Harry draws closer to his sitting target. Also closing in: a police inspector (Edward Woodward), who's determined to protect the hunted woman. Reed and McShane – one grim, one voluble, and both steeped in violence -- make an intimidating tough-guy team. "Bastard must be made out of concrete!"

Of ja... tovenaar... Mount your fire mare, pack your glaive, and double-check all your friends for signs of being a changeling! This week Josh and Ryan are headed to the mystical, faraway planet of Krull in the film aptly titled... well... Krull. And if you were expecting creativity from this sword and sorcery cult classic, you might find yourself sorely disappointed. A derivative, plodding mess that overstays its welcome, Krull fails to impress either of our intrepid hosts this week. But that's why we're gonna laugh at it! Krull was released in 1983 and stars Ken Marshall, Lysette Anthony, and Freddie Jones with appearances by Robbie Coletrane and Liam Neeson

Ian and Aaron continue their sinister sojourn in Hammerland with a look at Terrence Fisher's 1969 opus, Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed! This is Aaron's favorite Hammer Frankenstein movie, and for good reason. A culmination of all the features leading up to it, the story centers around the mad scientist (Peter Cushing) attempting to steal the secret of artificial life from a fellow doctor who's been locked up in a mental institution.Blackmail, murder, deceit, and the darkest action of a career marked by dark actions--this film pushes what we know about Victor Frankenstein's ruthlessness to the very limit. The guys dig into this vital series entry, comparing and contrasting it with its predecessors; looking at the differences between the competing mad scientists; and praising the work of this movie's "monster", Freddie Jones. Also, Ian re-contextualizes an emotionally moving scene, thus ruining it for Aaron forever!"Hammerland" is our monthly look at the 1950s-1970s Hammer Studios horror films featuring Dracula and Frankenstein.Note 1: Due to a computer issue, this episode looks a little different from previous installments; hopefully the back-and-forth "speaker view" isn't too distracting.Note 2: Toward the end of the show, Ian and Aaron lay out the next few episodes. They get a couple of dates wrong, and the order of the films they'll be discussing is a bit out of whack. Just stay tuned. In our last guest episode of the year, we finally check out the adaptation of the classic sci-fi novel Dune, released December 14th in 1984. Was the joy of Spider-Man: Far From Home enough to allow Brian to survive the terror that is Midsommar? Join Brian and Mandy as they describe these two films, along with all the rumors leading up to next week's San Diego Comic-Con. 00:57 - The world of movies lost two great actors this July. Brian and Mandy take a moment to go over the cinematic achievements of Rip Torn and Freddie Jones. 02:21 - Mandy discovered a new podcast drama that she wants everyone to listen to. It stars Richard Armitage and no animals were harmed in the making of it. 04:31 - Disney casts Halley Bailey as the Live-Action Ariel. Some people don't think a Black mermaid is realistic, so Brian and Mandy draw a picture of what a 'realistic' mermaid would look like. 07:01 - Mulan teaser trailer is out and for once a Disney Live Action movie looks better than the original animated one. 09:01 - Warner Bros has greenlit Sherlock Holmes 3. But Mandy is most excited about where it's set and whether Robert Downey Jr. will finally stop being the 'other' Sherlock. 10:24 - Todd Phillips, director of the upcoming 'Joker', claims fans will be angry with the story of the movie. Article: https://www.empireonline.com/movies/news/joaquin-phoenix-joker-follow-comics-exclusive/ 13:28 - Brian discusses some Comic-Con rumors: Word is out that we might get to see a Black Widow teaser trailer. The Falcon and Winter Soldier TV show just hired a high caliber writer. Millie Bobby Brown may have been cast in the new Eternals movie. And Starwars.com released pictures of crimson Stormtroopers from Episode IX. 17:35 - Brian review Spiderman: Far From Home while skating dangerously close to spoilers. 23:21 - Midsommar turned out to be not what Brian had expected at all. And now he needs to get Mandy to watch it.

In our first episode - which doubles as the inaugural meeting of the Lysette Anthony Appreciation Society - Chris and Rob dissect 80s' sci-fantasy cult classic KRULL to answer the knotty question: Is it still any good? Notable for Rob saying "kind of" a lot and making far too many Star Wars references, and for Chris giving what is possibly the worst Lindsay Crouse impersonation ever recorded. Enjoy! Theme music by The Sonic Jewels
Joey and Scott review the notorious Ken Marshall (who?) vehicle, basically Willow meets Star Wars, with a dash of Tron. If you survived the 80's, you still have nightmares about crushed Cyclops and Charlie Bucket's math teacher turning into animals.
