Anything for love will cost you unnecessary heartache, headache, and pain! If you're willing to do anything for love you have serious unresolved inner issues. It's time to look at yourself and be honest about who you are! Thinking that way means the individaul is immature, don't know what love is or what it isn't, and they don't love himself or herself.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/relationships-and-relatable-life-chronicles--4126439/support.

They hug you ...They trash talk you in their texts. They confide in you ...They lie to you. They tell you they love you ...They break your rules. It can feel like a roller coaster—loving them deeply while also feeling hurt, confused, or unsure where you stand. In this episode, I talk about why love can feel so elusive when we misunderstand how it's created—and how understanding the dynamics of love changes everything. Spoiler: love isn't something that the universe sprinkles down on us, beyond our control. If you've ever questioned the love between you and your teen, this will help you see it more clearly and create more of it. To more fully understand, embrace and implement what I teach, book a free Discover Your Disconnection Pattern call with me. There is a solid reason you're feeling stuck, broken, or are hurting. I will help you discover it so that you can heal it. I firmly believe that your weaknesses can become your strength. Let me show you how. xoxo

There are mothers… and then there are matriarchs. This week in the Den, we sit down with Donna Jordan — lifelong visual artist, educator, proud grandmother, mother of three — and yes, the mother of Michael B. Jordan. But this conversation? It's about her. Donna shares what it really looked like to raise three creative children while nurturing her own artistry — creating art between caregiving and callbacks working in hand-painted silk and design to help support her family, and making sure her children saw her creating even when life was full. She opens up about being diagnosed with lupus in 1997, navigating fear and uncertainty, and “faking it” through pain so her children wouldn't carry the weight of her illness. She talks about what it means to mother through invisible disease, to show up when your body doesn't want to, and how watching her push through shaped her children's empathy and work ethic. And now? We see the fruit. Her children don't just succeed — they show up. They place her art on sets. They manage her business. They honor her publicly. They protect the woman she is and the legacy she built quietly for decades. This episode is about reciprocity. About raising children who return the love. About taking your “$10” for yourself. About reclaiming your time — at any age. If you've ever wondered whether your sacrifices matter… this one will sit with you. What if the Beckham family “feud” isn't about drama, entitlement, or ingratitude—but about something much deeper? In this episode, we unpack emotionally immature parents, family enmeshment, and differentiation using simple, everyday language anyone can understand. Through the lens of Bowen family systems theory (don't worry—we keep it sixth-grade friendly), we explore how growing up too fast, carrying adult responsibilities as a child, and prioritizing family image can shape parenting—and family conflict—later in life.Using the Beckham family as a real-world example, we reframe Brooklyn Beckham's choices not as rejection or disrespect, but as a healthy (and painful) attempt to become his own person. We also explore how performative family systems operate, why independence can trigger anxiety and control, and why guilt is often the emotional price of breaking generational cycles. This episode isn't about blaming parents. It's about understanding limitations, naming patterns, and learning how to grow without cutting off the people we love.✨ You'll walk away with:A clear definition of emotionally immature parentsSigns you may have grown up in a performative or enmeshed family systemA short self-reflection quizSimple tools to manage guilt, anxiety, and the fear of disappointing your familyIf you've ever felt torn between loyalty and selfhood, this episode is for you.If today's episode resonated with you—especially the part about feeling lonely inside your own family—I want to invite you to go deeper. My book, Lonely AF – A Therapist's No BS Guide to Feeling Less Alone, is available for preorder now on Amazon, and it includes an entire chapter dedicated to what it's like to feel unseen, disconnected, or emotionally alone in your family system. This book is honest, practical, and grounding—no fluff, no therapy jargon—just real tools to help you understand your relationships, your anxiety, and your loneliness in a new way.✨ When you preorder before March 16, you'll receive my free preorder bundle, including:Guided meditations recorded by meAccess to my workshop on my 5-Step HEART MethodAnd one more thing—if the book helps you, please leave a review. By this point in December, love has been merchandised within an inch of its life. It jingles in ads that say if you really love someone, you should buy them a luxury car with a bow the size of a house. But Advent tells another story. God did not arrive in a grand gesture—no skywriting, no fireworks, no leather interior with heated seats. Love slipped into a Bethlehem stable, swaddled in rags. This is not the love we usually want. We’d prefer it to be shiny and obvious. Instead, God gives us the kind of love that chooses vulnerability. A baby who cannot even hold up his huge noggin. A terrified teenage mom. And a dad who's trying to believe this is not all a terrible mistake. And yet—this is the love that remakes the whole world. Not quick or efficient, but slow and human. Love that needs to be changed and snuggled. Love that grows up to sit with outcasts and weep at gravesides and promise that nothing—not even death—can separate us from God. So here we are, a few days from Christmas, and maybe the invitation is to look for love in small ways. In a text that says, “Made it home safe.” In a neighbor shoveling your walkway. Love in the God who came close, unnoticed but never unneeded. Subscribe to Kate’s Substack for blessings, essays, and reflections that hold what’s hard and beautiful. Ever feel like you're not enough? Like you're under-qualified, behind spiritually, or just hoping no one discovers the real you?In Week 4 of our Love Comes Close series, we look at Mary's encounter with Gabriel in Luke 1:26–38—a moment where grace broke into a story of inadequacy. God didn't choose Mary because she was impressive. He renamed her. He redirected her future. And He still does the same today. If you need hope, identity, or a reminder that God isn't finished with your story—this message is for you.

We're living in a world starving for peace… and many of us are too. This Advent, discover how God meets us in the unraveling—just like He met Joseph. Before peace mends, it often disrupts. And sometimes the most loving thing God does is dismantle the peace we tried to build without Him.Come encounter Emmanuel, the God who steps into our chaos and becomes our peace.

1 John 4:7-12 unpacks God's agape love—its call, its nature, and its ultimate proof through the sacrificial work of Jesus. It shows that true Christian love isn't manufactured by us but produced by the Holy Spirit and grounded in God's own character. And it challenges believers to complete the “circuit” of God's love by letting it flow through us so others can encounter Him.

[this episode is brought to you by Hayne Griffin, Stoy Prioleau, Joey Svendsen]Joey brings up something he read about a pair of conjoined twins, Stoy thought they were still called Siamese twins, and once again this podcast proves its lack of "political correctness" in handling various issues. Stoy points out certain types of people who can't help in fostering societal unity, Hayne educates us on other systems of prejudice that likely won't make sense to Americans, and the three friends lament and laugh about it all. Family trauma runs deep — and sometimes, it echoes through generations. In this episode of Unwritten Chapters, I share a recent experience that reopened an old wound — a message from a family member that didn't ask how I was, didn't recognize what I've survived, but instead demanded justification.I've been here before — having to explain why I'm hurting, why I left, why I needed distance. But this time, it wasn't a sibling — it was someone from the next generation. And that's when it hit me: family patterns don't just persist. They multiply.

This past week I saw some interviews with Robert and Airyn De Niro, about their relationship and Robert De Niro's reaction to Airyn recently being outed as Trans by paparazzi. This led me to think about lessons I have learned from working with Transgendered People (and parents) about supportive and loving ways to respond to someone when they come out. He is the former owner of Flying Saucers Cafe in Santa Monica, a notorious UFO themed coffee house he founded and operated for many years. He is also has seemingly endless notoriety for being the guy who sprung the Unknown Lifeform in North Carolina Sewer viral video onto the world. In 2009 it became for awhile the biggest viral video in the world and was covered on CNN, ABC, NBC, Aftenblatt Sweden etc. he got into a public spat with the Raleigh NC department of water and power over what 'the blob' really was and it became an international story with Ryan at the center of it. Its still never been truly solved, and I still get millions of views a year on his youtube channel over it. Flying Saucers cafe was still pretty new at the time the video went bonkers, and he was investigating claims of the unexplained with UFORadar (as he has for decades)... so he became quite internet famous and ended up with a TV show that launched but never aired called Strange Brew.Flying Saucers became Santa Monicas HQ for all sorts of weird stuff, and a google search will reveal that it became the cool place to go for celebrities that were interested in bigfoot/UFOs/ESP etc.. so there are some funny media stories of Ryan and them hanging out in a safe zone of weird stuff. Fast forward a few years and Ryan got obsessed with ocean based tic tac UAP and has his UFO Theory of Everything that he's screaming from the rooftops: that these craft are indeed ocean based Von Neumann machines and not what we thought. Ryan has a channel called Probe the Deep devoted to it with a few hundred thousand viewers and is urgently calling for disclosure and for the public to get smart about this. The reign of Aragorn Elessar begins, as the reign of Sara ends - quite possibly with her sailing off on a ship filled with cats. Join The Man of the West and the Shield-maiden of Rohan as Gandalf and the new king go mountain-climbing in our last episode on The Steward and the King. Frodo tries to be patient, Aragorn looks for a sign, and Arwen arrives with an entourage. We reconcile questionable timelines, and do the math to figure out how tall Mindolluin might be. Shawn joins Alan for a Philology Faire on ye utúvienyes — which apparently means, “Did you know I broke my toe when I kicked that helmet?” Also, Sara considers making apple crumble… from the fruit of the White Tree.
