He has run 10 marathons, with his latest being his fastest. Luke has experienced various running injuries, including hamstring tendinopathy. Hamstring tendinopathy can significantly impact daily life, not just athletic performance. The distinction between overuse and overload injuries is crucial in rehabilitation. Imaging is not always necessary for diagnosing tendinopathy. Hamstring tendinopathy is often under-researched compared to other tendon injuries. Daily activities, such as sitting, can exacerbate hamstring pain. A multifaceted approach is essential for effective rehabilitation. Strengthening exercises, particularly hamstring curls, are vital in recovery. Early hamstring rehabilitation focuses on building capacity and strength. Runners often lack strength training, impacting their recovery. Incorporating heavy lifting and compound movements is crucial. Plyometrics can enhance performance and aid in rehabilitation. Managing running frequency is essential for tendon recovery. Pain levels may not correlate directly with functional improvements. Capacity testing is vital for assessing recovery progress. Long-term recovery from tendinopathy can take over 12 months. Flare-ups during rehab are common and should be managed. Muscle and tendon adaptations should be targeted separately. Running technique significantly impacts proximal hamstring load. Trunk position and over-stride are critical factors in assessment. Flexibility in runners may not always correlate with performance. Rehabilitation strategies should focus on individual needs. Shockwave therapy has mixed results for tendinopathy treatment. Field sports present unique challenges in managing injuries. Distal hamstring tendinopathy is less common but still relevant. Metabolic conditions can trigger various tendinopathies. Continuous learning and adaptation are essential in rehabilitation. AI may play a future role in predicting running injuries. The episode discusses the concept of Minimum Viable Continuous Delivery (Minimum CD), which represents a counter-movement to heavyweight frameworks like SAFe. The hosts explore how Minimum CD provides a set of essential practices for successfully building software-based products without unnecessary complexity. The approach focuses on core principles rather than rigid frameworks, making it particularly relevant for embedded systems development. The discussion covers the fundamental requirements for continuous delivery, including automated testing, pipeline-driven deployments, and trunk-based development. The hosts emphasize that while these practices may seem challenging for embedded systems, they become increasingly important as devices become more sophisticated and connected.A key theme throughout the episode is the importance of building trust in the development process through automation, consistent practices, and cultural commitment. The hosts stress that while some practices may seem difficult to implement in embedded systems, the more challenging they are, the more valuable they become when successfully implemented.Timestamps and Topics:00:00:00 - Introduction and overview of Minimum CD00:02:00 - Discussion of Minimum CD as counter-movement to complex frameworks00:03:45 - Continuous Integration fundamentals00:15:35 - Pipeline as the only way to deploy00:27:00 - Production-like test environments00:29:45 - Rollback capabilities for connected devices00:32:25 - Configuration deployment with artifacts00:34:50 - Trunk-based development principles00:39:30 - Automated testing requirements00:41:10 - Maintaining delivered work integrity00:45:55 - Wrap-up and closing thoughtsShownotes:Link to minimumcd.org: https://minimumcd.org/ Reference to Brian Finster as instigator of Minimum CD Reference to Raymond Chen's blog about Windows backward compatibility Reference to previous episode on trunk-based development Reference to interviews with Philip Johnston from Embedded Artistry Reference to interview with Francois from Mend Fault Link to Agile Embedded Slack group You can find Jeff at https://jeffgable.com.You can find Luca at https://luca.engineer.Want to join the agile Embedded Slack? When Winnie Ruth Judd stepped onto a train bound for Los Angeles, no one knew she was traveling with the dismembered bodies of her two best friends. This is the second of two "Sidebar" episodes in honor of the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere's famous ride, which we will celebrate on the night of April 18 by putting two lights in a window of our house. Last time we explored the prelude to the ride in the months before the final crisis that triggered the march of the British "Regulars" on Lexington and Concord. This episode is the story of Paul Revere's "midnight" ride on the night of April 18-19, 1775, including the famous lanterns of Old North Church, the fraught trip across the Charles River under the guns of HMS Somerset, his spectacular horse Brown Beauty (one of the great equine heroes of American history), the "waking up the institutions of New England" that night in raising the alarm not just on the road to Lexington and Concord but throughout eastern New England, and his astonishing capture and release. And, sure, William Dawes and Dr. Samuel Prescott. Hamstrings are crucial for speed and injury prevention. The anatomy of hamstrings is complex and specialized. Biceps femoris long head is the most commonly injured hamstring. Fatigue significantly alters movement patterns and injury risk. Different sports have varying rates of hamstring injuries. Proximal injuries are more common than distal injuries. Effective rehabilitation requires understanding of hamstring function. Training should focus on both hip and knee movements. Range of motion is key for optimal performance. Knee-over-hip movement targets specific hamstring muscles. Nordics are effective for hamstring injury prevention. Trunk control is vital for efficient hamstring function. Thorough hamstring development addresses all muscle groups. Hamstrings may require different training strategies based on fiber type. Join retired Secret Service agent Todd Hiles and retired FBI agent Stewart Fillmore as they take you under the crime scene tape and back to a case that hits closer than ever—Todd's own childhood. In this gripping episode, The Boy in the Trunk, the agents travel back in crime to the quiet town where Todd grew up, after a long-lost memory suddenly resurfaces. What he once dismissed as a childhood urban legend—whispers of a boy kidnapped in broad daylight—turns out to be a true story: the 1975 abduction of 10-year-old Timothy Stempel. What followed was a harrowing ransom scheme that stunned the community. For days, investigators raced against the clock, as the town held its breath and Timothy's fate hung in the balance. With expert insight and engaging storytelling, Hiles and Fillmore retrace the twists and turns of the investigation—including the shocking location where Timothy was ultimately found—and explore how this terrifying chapter from Todd's past became one of the most formative cases they've ever examined.Follow Texas Crime Travelers:TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@texascrimetra...Instagram: https://instagram.com/texascrimetrave...Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/texascrimetr...Substack: https://substack.com/@texascrimetravelershttps://texascrimetravelers.com/Have a specific case in mind that you'd like us to explore or just want to get in touch? In this episode, Geoff and Katrina dive back into The Tale of Tales by Giambattista Basile. Is it violent? And misogynistic? And unnecessarily sexual? Yes. But it's also racist. Katrina was sent a copy of Specters of the Marvelous: Race and the Development of the European Fairy Tale by Kimberly J. Lau, a professor of literature at the University of California, Santa Cruz. This book was chocked full of fascinating research about how the tales that most famously make up the genre of fairy tales, have unique place and time specific types of racism. Katrina retells the tale of The Golden Trunk, which reveals what we can learn about how Italians in the late 1500's viewed Black people, particularly those that were enslaved. Not only that, but the audience also gets to hear a classic Basile variant of the Cupid and Psyche story, which is a precursor to Beauty and the Beast.
