Today I sat down with healthcare worker and activist Anna Lovotti. Anna is a physical therapist who recently moved to California to put her newest niche as a Neurology Certified Specialist to good use. She like many, was jolted into action regarding anti-racist education as a white ally following the death of George Floyd. Today we talk about what the process has been like, the bumps along the way and what is left to be learned. Antiracism is not a checklist or a class where you complete a few assignments. I also want to note that we talked about 1 instance in which I experienced racism at my alma mater. The individual who committed this act is no longer with the institution, and I do want to say that sitting down with her to talk about about it and naming the wrongs did provide for some therapeutic healingTopics of discussion- The Journey to becoming anti-racist- What we have learned about ourselves and the system- Having tough conversation as a clinicianLet me know what you think this episode, If you like it give it a ratingIf you love this episode leave a review and share it with a healthcare provider in YOUR life.Let me know what you think this conversation, follow and subscribe so you never miss another miss another episode….ENJOYCheck out Strong Coffee and use the promo code: STONE15 to get 15% off your purchases. https://strongcoffeecompany.com/?ref=gy2i4fuo1fje

The Pastor! The Minister! The Legend! Paullllllllllll CalcoteI LOVED this conversation with Pastor Calcote. We as humans tend to compartmentalize certain topics, but at the end of the day there is totally a message to be taken from every indirect interaction because everything is connected. On paper we talked about completely random topics and literally hit on every scope of conversation. From prayer to memes to Michael Jordan to mental health. If you love tattoos and the environment, you’ll appreciate this episode. My friend Drew is a Rope Access Technician, Art & Tattoo Enthusiast, Environmental Advocate, but most importantly he is wise beyond his years and this conversation supports that statement.I am so proud of everything he has accomplished already and I know that it is just the tip of the iceberg of the impact he will have on the world. He dropped some dope book and documentary recommendations for anyone looking to start or continue their journey in environmental health. He outlined: The meaning behind his tattoos and how the artwork is a form of self expression, what sparked his interest in the environment AND combining his work with the outdoors with a career in mental health and psychology. All super cool stuff. It’s the SEASON 1 FINALE and I’VE GOT SOME FEELINGS. *Trigger Warning* 15:00-16:15 There is potentially triggering discussion recalling September 11, 2001I was really excited about this convo, for the fact that I know I don’t know nearly enough about this as I should. Especially teaching cultural competency so I was grateful to sit down with him and dissect the implicit biases that exist in society as well as myself. He broke down what ableism looks like, where these discussions could best serve in education for future healthcare professionals, and what we can all do today to fight ableism. He gave some great activists followers on social media and recommended the book Disability Visibility for anyone looking to begin or further their awareness in ableism. Today I sat down with Mental Health Counselor, Writer, Humorist, My friend, Michelle. happy to have recorded proof of just how insightful she is. Today I sat down with Senior Logistics NCO Sergeant First Class Robert Chadwick. On paper this friendship wouldn’t make sense to most... which is why it makes total sense for us to have this conversation. Robert holds his Masters of Business Administration in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and is pursuing a doctorate in Business Administration, which aligns really well with what he does in the Army. He also works alongside his wife, Jasmine as founders and creators of the minority owned and veteran operated apparel company Oyster Rock Apparel. (High possibility you will get to meet Jasmaine on here at some point) . In the episode he answers my questions about the Army’s inner workings, what makes an effective manager, and he drops some solid life advice for engaging in conversations with people who may not necessarily have the same opinion and what you should do to make your voice heard in your community. For the full show notes go to https://www.cornerstoneconvoswellness.com/episode-show-notesTopics of discussion- Lessons you've learned being in the military- Secrets to being an effective manager- Importance of voting
Originally when I planned to sit down and record this solo episode, I was planning on breaking down the concept of community based on a quote I reposted a couple weeks ago, but I decided to shift gears a little. Coming off the heels of the first presidential debate between Former VP Joe Biden and President Trump, and the passing of the Notorious RBG, I wanted to share my thoughts on what it means to be an Ally and an Accomplice.
