In a previous episode, we discussed our experience growing up as quiet and shy kids. Being shy and quiet comes with its fair share of struggles and in today's episode, we figured we'd talk about one specific aspect, which is the feeling of being left out. You know that thing that your mind does without you even realizing When it just leads you through a bunch of thoughts and all of a sudden, you are somewhere completely unexplainable in your stream of consciousness and are daydreaming about all kinds of things? One moment, you are thinking about the math problem in the book that's sitting in front of you and the next, you are daydreaming about becoming an amazing singer and performing in front of thousands of people! Who knows how your thoughts led you there but one thing we do know, is that talking about these kinds of situations is super fun! So come along with us as we drift away into the topic of daydreams! We then try to understand how each type of daydream affects our lives in unexpected ways, both positive and negative. From realizing that certain daydreams can mess with your self-perception, confidence and expectations, to discovering that some people just LOVE to daydream about food to satisfy “visual cravings”, we make quite a few shocking realizations in the process. Shit Talking and Gossiping is something everyone does. Yet, no one likes to admit they do it. Because of all the negative aspects that are shown on the big screen, it feels like we, as a society, have accepted the fact that gossiping and shit talking is a bad thing to do and hence, we deny that part of us… Who knows? Maybe they are bad, but maybe not. In this episode, we think out loud and try to figure out exactly that. We share our personal experiences with the endless vicious cycles of gossiping. Then, we talk about the importance of choosing your shit talking and gossiping buddies wisely, as well as the importance of the intention behind the fact sharing. To finish it off, we try to rationalize gossiping and look at the positives of it, such as trust building and bond creations in friendship and we even introduce our own theory behind our need and desire to gossip: herd protection mentality! It's all about spreading good thoughts and assuring others that they are capable of doing whatever they may be struggling with... But can this be “overdone”? In this episode, we want to pause and figure out something quite thought-provoking: is there such a thing as toxic positivity? We share our own experiences where we witnessed toxic positivity in others.
