Victoria Pedretti is back on Collider Ladies Night for You Season 3! Back in October, we had an extended conversation about her journey in the industry thus far, but now it's time to dig a little deeper, play some games and also discuss what Love goes through in the new season of You. At the start of Season 3, Joe (Penn Badgley) and Love are married and have a baby. Hoping to create a safe life for their son, they move to the town of Madre Linda in Northern California. Even though they're eager to do what's necessary for baby Henry, we all well know that both Joe and Love have certain tendencies and patterns that make it a bit difficult for them to live the average suburban lifestyle. During this episode of Collider Ladies Night, we retrace her steps in the industry -- with a heavy emphasis on The Haunting of Hill House -- and discuss her approach to tackling Love's whirlwind of emotions and outbursts in You Season 3. This weekend, Michael Myers returns to Haddonfield and to theaters with Halloween Kills, a follow-up to David Gordon Green's 2018 “legacy sequel” Halloween. To commemorate his latest rampage through the sleepy Midwest town that should probably outlaw trick-or-treating and rubber masks at this point let's be real, Film Club is taking a deep dive into the whole Halloween franchise, looking back on a dozen slasher movies (and one weird magic-mask outlier) released over the last 40-plus years, with an eye towards the cream of the pumpkin crop—beyond, of course, John Carpenter's timeless and unimpeachable original. No one expected the travel restrictions imposed early in the COVID-19 pandemic to last so long or remain such a messy patchwork, in part because of the arrival of more contagious variants such as the delta variant – with significant effects on family reunification and humanitarian protection, travel for business and pleasure, and international migration. More than 18 months on, debates continue over the effectiveness of these measures in meeting public-health goals. Experts are working, though, to learn from the COVID-19 response to improve decision-making for handling future cross-border pandemics. In this episode, we speak with Dr. Kelley Lee, head of the Pandemics and Borders initiative at Simon Fraser University in Canada, about what the future holds, and whether decisionmakers truly learn to adapt or instead pull out the playbook from the last crisis.

Garrett reflects on how this recent experience affected him, and shares his insight on what you can gain from revisiting your life list as well. Matt and Garrett explain how life lists tend to evolve over time, the four categories of a typical life list, and why you should give yourself the opportunity to dream big and let loose as you create your own.  Our hosts discuss the importance of focusing on what matters most to you, how your life list ties into your business plan, and why small goals are just as significant as the big ones. They also share some of their most fun and heartwarming life list items, and offer their best advice for how to get started on your own list of goals. This exercise is sure to motivate you to do more, do better, and grow as a person as you check off each item, and add more along the way. You want a private jet? Put that on the list. You want to give a billion dollars to charity? Put that on the list. You want to fly to the moon with Richard Branson and to Mars with Elon Musk? Put it on the list!” “Everything, big or small, that's been on my life list has had a story written with it, of accomplishing it.” “I have on my life list to have a Guinness in Ireland in an old Irish pub.” “The power of this list is endless.” “We've got to find that motivation to bring us back up to show up so that we can continue to achieve all these things that we wrote down.” “If somebody is telling me it's silly, it's definitely going on the list.” “You've just got to start putting those little things down when they pop up. With The Matrix Resurrections arriving in theaters this December, we are finally – almost 400 episodes into this damn podcast – taking our long-awaited look back at one of the single most seminal films of our lifetimes: The Wachowski Sisters' The Matrix, a movie that is either at or very near the upper threshold of how good it is possible for big Hollywood studio filmmaking to be. This is such an impossibly rich movie to discuss, with its potent, multi-valent central metaphor opening up countless avenues of conversation, including reading the film through the lenses of Marxism or transgender experience, but it's also just ridiculously entertaining and well-constructed, with terrific performances, beautiful writing, and thrilling action drawing from influences like Wuxia, martial arts, John Woo, anime, and so much more. It's some of the most fun we've ever had talking about a movie on this podcast, but it's only part of this week's episode; in this first hour, you'll also hear Jonathan's thoughts on Daniel Craig's final 007 film, No Time to Die, and the out-of-body greatness of Metroid Dread on Nintendo Switch, and Sean's final impressions of Lost Judgment after finishing the latest masterpiece from Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios.Enjoy, and come back next week for episode 399 and our next Weekly Suit Gundam extravaganza with Reconguista in G! Time Chart:Intro: 0:00:00 – 0:07:55No Time to Die: 0:07:55 – 0:22:56Lost Judgment: 0:22:56 – 0:42:30Metroid Dread: 0:42:30 – 1:01:30Revisiting The Matrix: 1:01:30 – 3:59:29 Subscribe to our YouTube Channel!Subscribe to the WEEKLY SUIT GUNDAM Podcast!Subscribe for free to 'The Weekly Stuff' in Apple Podcasts!Follow Jonathan Lack on Twitter!Follow Sean Chapman on Twitter!

It was the last time the race was held in-person, over two years ago. Tommy gratuitously accepted our invitation to chat and shared his journey with us. We spoke about the marathon at length and he let us in to everything that brought him to that point. A lot has happened since then however. Early in 2020 Tommy was diagnosed with NK T-Cell lymphoma, which is an extremely rare form of cancer. He battled through, fighting for his life and has since made a miraculous recovery. We're blessed that we were able to have spoken to Tommy that weekend in Boston and no doubt, if his body allowed, he'd love to toe the line with his peers at the 125th Boston marathon on Monday. So whether you're racing this year or just need that extra bit of inspiration, give this episode a listen and enjoy all his wisdom. Eyes Up, Stout heart, Rage on.

A Look Inside the Salesforce State of Marketing Report with Salesfore's VP of Product Marketing, Bobby Jania

Marketing Trends

Bobby Jania, VP of Product Marketing at Salesforce understands how to look at a potential problem, reframe it, and utilize it as an asset. His ability to understand technical nuance, thanks to a degree in computer engineering, qualifies him as a leader in this space. Understanding the basics of how things are made, and then taking a step back to look at the way those little details are fitting together to fulfill the mission of the company is one of the big reasons why Bobby is where he is today as a marketer. On this episode of Marketing Trends, Bobby joined me and discussed where marketers might be going wrong as they implement customer-facing A.I. His can-do attitude, despite adverse circumstances, means more productivity around the clock as employees in different continents are able to keep work going when the sun sets over the US. “We're leveraging the fact that there are people in Japan and in Australia and in the UK on the team. It's not a barrier anymore. For some stuff when I log off, I know they're going to pick it up, and it continues on through.”  Keep that train of progress moving forward, that's the Bobby Jania way. We uncover some nuance from the annual Salesforce State of Marketing Report, and see how marketers across the board are revamping the way they work in their craft. All this, up next on Marketing Trends.Main TakeawaysKeep Mission and Vision at the forefront of all your Work: Keeping company values at the forefront of your mind can give you clarity on tough decisions that come up. Revisiting your company's mission and vision on a regular basis can help everyone make more mission-oriented decisions in their daily work. Everyone needs to feel the pull forward through that common company vision on what the work is that you're doingMarketing Through Cookie Disruption: Brands that are not already keeping a first party database have suffered most with the end of cookies as we knew them. Companies are expediting new marketing solutions and strategies to fill in this unforeseen void. Marketers now need to rely more on first party data, getting consumers to willingly type in their name and email on a company website, while also acknowledging a website's intent to track their information, instead of third party cookies.Leveraging Artificial intelligence for Marketers: Marketers have to be careful with the use of A.I.when it is customer facing, especially when consumers are interacting with that technology to solve problem. Consumers are more likely to forgive the use of a robot in a customer service funnel because they understand the need to streamline the influx of help tickets. However, if you try to pass this off as a “real” person, when it's still easy to tell when you're communicating with a chatbot, people will become frustrated. They need to know they can escalate their request to a real person at any point.Key Quotes“It's really hard to make things simple. Mark Twain is credited with the whole idea of, ‘I would have written you a shorter letter if I had more time.' It's that idea that to make something simple is really complicated.” “Salesforce recognizes the strategy and tactics that got us here today are not the ones that will get us to the next step. So there's this constant push, not just with the products we launch externally, but even internally. How are we going to do it differently than before so that we can keep this growth and keep this scale going?”“I really had to start trusting my direction, into what I could delegate. Now a lot of it comes down to the priorities. There are certain things I will dive really deep into. Certain products, certain features, certain review meetings I will get very, very deep in. Then there were other ones that I would have stayed at a very high level and get more of the readout of what's going on, than be in the trenches, making the decisions.”“There's probably been more disruption this year than I've ever seen before, as far as what was important. What strategies changed? What are the metrics that you look at that changed? As you can probably imagine, video channel value dramatically went up this year because we're all sitting at home, right? “We're leveraging the fact that there are people in Japan and in Australia and in the UK on the team. It's not a barrier anymore. For some stuff when I log off, I know they're going to pick it up, and it continues on through.”  “If you're going to have an A.I. interface directly with the customer, and if it is trying to have dialogue, typing and chatting, you need to be transparent that you're talking to an AI bot. I've seen backlash when they try to pretend it's a human, and then, you can ask it certain questions, and very much tell right away it's not right. I think people are okay with it as long as they know.”“It is amazing to see the number of marketing vendors and solutions enter the space because it just shows how much innovation is still yet to come. I've been in this space for almost a decade and the amount of marketing solutions that are out there then versus today is orders of magnitude different. They're all doing new and different things. We continue to find new ways to innovate in that space.” Available EverywhereApple Podcasts: {{Apple Podcast URL}}Spotify: {{Spotify Podcast URL}}Google Podcasts: {{Google Podcast URL}}To learn more, click here: {{URL of detail page on found on www.mission.org}}---Marketing Trends podcast is brought to you by Salesforce. Let's just say La Velle did better than Rand -- and the Twins. 21:00: Four things about Phil Miller's season-ending Twins roster breakdown caught Rand's eye. 25:00: Some love for the Wild Card format, something MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred actually got right.
