Children repeat the stories they see, so what does that mean for the kids who are witnessing terrible stories? When a child has a loving consistent adult, they begin to see that a different story is possible. Compound the number of consistent adults, and you're helping this kid build resilience. On this Episode of Eavesdropping, Melanie and Aaron discuss the critical role a mentor can play in the life of a child AND the role in the life of an adult. We may not be able to change the trauma a child experiences, but we can help a child build resilience and create a new narrative. We can do that for adults as well. Rachel shares a tool that will help you discover if there's a connection between the two for you. They discuss the journey of wiping the face of our fathers off of the face of God. What does a secure relationship with God (and people) look like? You're comfortable with closeness. You trust that you're valuable and worthy. You can communicate openly and honestly. You can disagree, have a voice. You have interdependence, not independent of Him, or codependent with Him. You can be vulnerable.
