Play Episode Listen Later Dec 24, 2018 4:55

Good Monday morning! It is Christmas Eve, so it feels a little different than a normal Monday. The weather forecast for today for the lower Florida Keys area and Key West, we have partly cloudy skies a high of 75 degrees, a low of 68 degrees. We only have a 10% chance of precipitation today. Winds are going to be coming from the northeast, averaging about 12 miles an hour. And our humidity holding steady at 68%. Our atmospheric pressure is falling, it's going from 30.15 to 30.12. And our UV index for today is a six. So with partly cloudy skies will also have mostly sunny skies. And in that sunshine, you do need to make sure you are taking precautions. So our water temperature around the area has dropped to 73 degrees. So it'll be a little chillier than usual. Swells offshore going to be 1-3 feet today. So you do need to be prepared for that in the event that you're going offshore. Again, wind is not terribly high just in the low teens. And so you could still make some good time out fishing today. Our sunrise is at 7:09am; our sunset will be at 5:46pm. And we look at our tide charts and find out that our first low tide is at 4:46am. And the next low tide will be at 4:06pm. Our first high tide is 11:31am. And the next high tide is at 10:48pm. Overall, we have 10 hours and 37 minutes of sunshine today. And our solar transit happens at 12:27pm. Our tidal coefficient today is still very high, it's going to be a 93. Basically what that means is our low, low tide will start out right about half a foot below sea level. And it will go up to our highest of the high tides which will be over 2.2 feet. So that leads us to a 93 tidal coefficient. I don't know if you've been paying attention to that gorgeous moon out there. But the full moon is behind us, the winter solstice is behind us and we are now in the waning gibbous phase of the moon. So what does that mean as far as fishing activity for our solunar periods today - we have very high fishing activity in the major periods, which is going to be three fish activity from 1:57am to 3:57am and also from 2:30pm until 4:30pm or minor periods of activity to fish activity from 8:54am to 9:54am and also from 8:06pm to 9:06pm. If we had to give today an overall ranking of solunar activity, you know what we would call it two fish, so not a bad day. Now, if you're looking to go offshore, the Gulf Stream has shifted slightly offshore again. We do have fairly calm seas, once you get out into the Gulf Stream. The wave height is really less than a half foot as you get out there into the Gulf Stream. So not a terrible day to go offshore. I do want to remind you that if you're down in the area, and you are fishing today, maybe for the first time this year do pay attention to your regulations, the hogfish fisheries has closed for the year. So pay attention to that because if you're trying to fish for hogfish, you try to catch hogfish right now you will end up running afoul of the law. So http://fwc.org is where you can find all the latest fishing regulations and a little bit of information to keep you well within the legal limits of what you can catch what you can keep, and you won't have any problems with that. But do take those rules and regulations seriously. As the water temperatures drop, manatee are going to be coming in into those shallower waters where it is going to be a little warmer, and that often puts them in canals or waterways that are heavily trafficked by boats. So please make sure you're on the lookout and just alert and paying attention to your surroundings. We don't want to lose any more manatees this year, because they've really had a rough year. Overall, a gorgeous day with high of 75 degrees wins. Very mild today. It's two fish fishing activity. It's the day before Christmas. And if you're lucky enough to have woken up in the islands, then you know what, it's the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. And the weather forecast for the Key West and the Lower Keys area on this Saturday, December 22nd. Highs today of 72 degrees. Lows tonight of 62 degrees. After having a couple of very windy days, we are going to see the winds drop off dramatically after midnight during the day. Today we have only a 10% chance of rain. Winds coming in from the north around eight miles an hour and our humidity has dropped off to 59%. We still have another day or two of very, very high seas from the residual leftovers of the cold front that came through. Atmospheric pressure today is on the rise, going from 30.03 to 30.19. Although we will have winds averaging eight miles an hour, will have gusts much higher than that they can get up to about 20 miles an hour today. Our UV index for today is six, so it's high. It'll be partly sunny, though, so please take precautions. Also our water temperature holding steady at 75 degrees. Swells today around midnight, they're starting off very high from the residual effects of this storms and the winds that have come through - around 14 feet overnight and then dropping off during the day down to about six to seven feet. Still six to seven feet swells off shore are significant. So we have another day of probably a small craft advisory and a little bit of leftover residual from our days of gale warnings. Sunrise today is 7:06am and sunset will be at 5:45pm. If we look at our tide charts, the first low tide is at 3:11am and the next low tide is it to 2:29pm. The first high tide is it 10am. And the next high tide is at 9:10pm. Overall, 10 hours and 37 minutes of sun and the solar transit is at 12:26pm. We just passed the shortest day of the year, so gradually our days will be lengthening. Our tidal coefficient today is a 97. So again, very high. We have tides today that start out about a half a foot below sea level and get all the way up to 2.2 feet at the highest high tide. So definitely a 97 for the tidal coefficient completely makes sense. If we have to look at our fishing activity due to the full moon. We've got a three fish day for fishing activity, but you got to be careful about those winds. I just can't say that enough - don't take too many risks! Our very high activity periods are all of our major and all of our minor periods today are all three fish activity. So whenever sunrise and moo set are also intersecting that's happening between 12:24pm and 2:24pm, and then also very high activity from 5:58 to 6:58pm tonight. So we do have a lot of fish activity that should be happening because of the tides and the full moon coming on. But again, we do have a lot of wind if you're looking to go off shore. The Gulf Stream has moved in slightly a little closer to shore, but winds are still gusting starting early in the day. They're up close to 30 knots out there in the Gulf Stream. And then they will eventually die down to about 15 to 20 knots later on in the day. But it's definitely not smooth sailing out in the Gulf Stream yet it must be some changes closer to Christmas day, but for today not the best day to be out there. Overall though, if you are looking to have an incredibly beautiful temperate weather day when the rest of the country may be dealing with flooding, blizzards, rain cold, yucky you know what you've woken up on the islands. It's almost time for Christmas and it is nothing but the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. Key West Weather: Dec. 21, 2018 - Windy with Swells + Dangerous Water Conditions

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 21, 2018 6:43

Happy Friday to you! It is the Friday before Christmas. So we've got one weekend left as we head into the Christmas holidays. I hope you have all of your shopping done and you are ready to have an awesome Christmas holiday. Now our weather forecast for today. We had some severe weather yesterday. And we continue to be at risk for some very, very high winds. We have partly cloudy skies with significant winds coming out of the west at 26 miles an hour. Our high temperature today near 75 degrees, low overnight is 63 degrees. Winds could occasionally gust to over 40 miles per hour during the day. Our chance of precipitation is only 10% today. But we did get a significant amount of precipitation yesterday so there could still be some flooding and that sort of thing that you might need to look out for. So our severe weather chances continue until Saturday morning. So especially if you are on the gulf or Bay side, especially in the Upper Keys, you definitely need to watch out because there will be flooding. Water levels in the street could be you know, one to two and a half feet above street level in some places. So make sure you are not driving across any roads or anything that have water standing in them. So because of the crazy weather, it's not going to be a great day to be out on the water. We still continue to have some advisories. There probably will be a small craft advisory issued. So not recommending you get out on the water today to do any fishing. But if you're fishing from a bridge or you're doing somewhere safely from land so that you're not at risk, let me tell you what the conditions are going to be. We have rising atmospheric pressure, it's going from 29.77 to 30.06. Our UV index which is high, because, it's going to be just partly cloudy/mostly sunny today is going to be a six. So you have to take precautions. Water temperatures still holding steady at 75 degrees. But the swells off shore - the lowest ones are going to be about nine feet and the highest ones are going to be about 17 feet. So you really want to make sure that you are prepared if you go out. It's not the time to be in a small boat out there. Now our sunrise today is 7:07am. And sunset will be at 5:44pm. Our first low tide is it to 1:23am and the next low tide will be at 1:46pm. The first high tide will be at 9:13am, and the next high tide will be at 8:25pm. Overall, we've got 10 hours and 37 minutes of sunshine and our solar transit will occur at 12:25pm. Now I wanted to talk to you about the tidal coefficient because it's going to be some of the highest that I have seen. It's a 94 this afternoon which is very high. So what that basically means is the difference between the lowest low tide and the highest high tide. So our lowest low tide puts us about a half a foot below sea level which is going to occur right around 2am. And then our highest high tide is going to be over two feet whenever it comes in at 8:25pm. So that difference between negative point four of a foot and 2.1 feet over sea level equates to about a two and a half feet difference in our highs and low tide. And that's where our tidal coefficient comes from. So it's definitely something you want to pay attention to. And that could also lead to some flooding in some areas, because when those high tides come in, and they're unusually high because of this weather. Then we could also have some flooding in the areas that don't normally have flood with just regular rain overall. Today if we look at our solunar activity, and I'm just telling you this because you might still be fishing from a bridge or some other safe place where you're not putting yourself at risk to fish activity is in our minor periods today. And three fish activity is in our major period. And then our minor period in the evening also coincides with sunset. So moon rise coincides with sunset that's gonna be from 5pm to 601. So overall, it's a two fish on the fish scale day. But again, it's not the best day to be offshore with with any type of small boat or small craft or anything like that, because you really could be swamped over very quickly with the waves. And the swells that we we also have our winter solstice today that occurs at 5:23pm. And then after today, we've got the full moon coming in tomorrow. And then we start having our days get gradually longer, which if you're like me, and you need the sunshine, that is a blessing for sure. The Gulf Stream has moved slightly off shore, but again, it is moving very, very quickly out there. We also have some very, very high winds and waves in the Gulf Stream areas. So it's not a great day to be out in the Gulf Stream, even you're, you're going to have a lot of waves in, it's just going to be very, very turbulent. So again, I exhort you to please pay attention to any marine alerts and any craft advisories that we have. Because it is not going to be the day to be out on the water and put yourself in danger for recreational activities. So no matter what you have woken up in the beautiful Florida Keys, and that makes it the perfect day to have a perfect day. Today's weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. Key West Weather Dec. 20, 2018 - SEVERE Weather Arriving and NO Fishing

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 20, 2018 4:49

Today's weather forecast for Thursday, December the 20th. We have some unusual weather coming through very, very severe winds and also rain and storms on the way. So for the Lower Keys and the Key West area today, partly cloudy and very, very windy. There's a slight chance of thunder showers in the morning. But then as we move through the later afternoon and this cold front comes in, we will be having some severe thunderstorms with damaging winds. Heavy rainfall also a chance of flooding in some areas, so it is really going to deteriorate in the afternoon hours. High's today are still warm in the mid 80's south southeast winds 20 to 25 miles an hour - definitely pay attention to that. Our chance of rain today is 80%. Let me just go ahead and say today is not the day to get out on the water. If you're doing any fishing at all today, it needs to be from solid ground because it is going to be so windy that you're going to have a very hard time. Our visibility is 15 miles today and our barometric pressure is falling going from 29.94 to 29.83. Our UV index coming in at a six on the scale. So that's high for our UV index. And so with the wind, you could actually end up getting sunburned a lot quicker than you could normally without this extra wind. Today, our current water temperature in the Lower Keys is holding steady at 75. Again, that might change once we get some of this cooler weather in with this cold front. As far as the swells offshore again, just rule it out, it's not worth it. There is a small craft advisory. It's not worth being out on the water to try to catch some fish today. You should be prepared for average wave height of about 8.6 feet. But getting as high as 14 feet, which you know is well as I do that is seriously rolling ocean. So you do not want to be out in the open sea today with all of this wind and the cold front coming through. Our sunrise today is 7:04am and sunset is at 5:44pm. The first low tide is at 1:46am and the next low tide will be at 1:03pm. The first high tide is at 8:36am and the next high tide will be at 7:41pm. Today, we have 10 hours and 37 minutes of sunshine. And our solar transit is now 12:25pm. Our tidal coefficient today - it is high and so it's going to be an 87 throughout the afternoon overall. Today for solunar activity, it's a one fish day completely overall. We have major and minor periods. Major periods are from 10:26am to 12:26pm and 10:57pm to 1257. And those are two fish periods. But again, let me say the Gulf Stream is going to be rolling today. It's going to be a terrible day to be out on the water. So if you're fishing, make sure it's from a bridge or secure structure on land. Minor periods of activity for and 4:09pm to 5:09pm. So we're still in the waxing gibbous phase of the moon. We've got the winter solstice happening tomorrow and then our full moon on the 22nd. So it's got some changes going on. So be aware of that. And this weather coming in is also something to definitely take serious. You might want to throughout the day. just double check and make sure that you're not missing any warnings from NOAA or the National Weather Service. So definitely pay attention. You know, the beautiful thing is even when we have severe weather like this coming through, it's still a gorgeous day. It's just windy, but it's very temperate. It's very moderate climate and you are in the perfect place and today is the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. And Happy Hump Day to you. It's the last hump day before Christmas. So today is Wednesday, December the 19th and our weather forecast for the Key West and the lower Florida Keys area - we've got another beautiful day on tap. It's high of 79 low of 74 degrees. Today we've got partly cloudy with some intervals of just straight up beautiful sunshine. Winds are coming from the east southeast at 5 to 10 miles an hour. Overall, a very calm day for winds and our humidity is it 70%. We do have a 20% chance of precipitation today. But hey, you're always going to have stuff blow through and it just moves in and moves out and no big deal. So if you're looking to get out on the water today, our atmospheric pressure is dropping - 30.06 is where it starts, and it drops to 29.97. The majority of our chance of rain today will come after 10 pm tonight. Other than that, if you look at it hour by hour, there's virtually no chance of rain all day long. So just get out there and enjoy this gorgeous, gorgeous weather. While the rest of the country is freezing, and getting blizzards and ice and all kind of crazy weather. Our UV index today is a 5 it's moderate. You will feel the sun and it will feel you if you are out there today. So take some precautions. Don't forget to put your UV protection clothes and that sort of thing on. Our water temperature is holding steady at 75 degrees. We've got swells today off shore ranging from a half a foot to foot and a half. So not huge swells. And our sunrise today is 7:06am. Our sunset is it 5:43pm. The first low tide is going to be at 12:53 am and then the next low tide is at 12:22pm. The first high tide will be at 7:31am. And then the next high tide will be at 6:59pm. If you're new to the area and just coming in for the holidays do pay attention to those tides. If you're going to get out, you know we have very shallow water around here, and there are some trips that you really need to pay attention to the tides before you plan on making. Locally, we say "You ain't been around if you ain't run aground." And I don't want that to happen to you as well. If you're looking to get out there fishing today, let's talk about our Solunar activity and the major and minor periods where we're going to have some better than normal fishing activity to fish activity. That's what the rating scale is two out of three fish activity during our major periods of activity today, 9:33am to 11:33am and 10:03pm to 12:03am. So the minor periods are one fish activity from 3:43am to 4:43am and from 3:23pm to 4:23pm. So those are our major and minor periods of fishing activity. Over all, if we had to give the day a rating out of three fish possible we would give it a one fish fishing activity. However, if you're heading out offshore to the Gulf Stream, it's beginning to move a little bit just a little bit further offshore. But it still has very, very low wave heights going on right now. So even through today, you're going to see very little I'm talking about less than a half a foot of waves out in the Gulf Stream. As it moves on toward the full moon. It's going to get a little higher and it's going to get a little more swelly and rolle-y out there. So if you - those are scientific words, so if you're out there today, you're going to have a beautiful time. It's almost flat calm with the winds being as low as they are. So just enjoy it and enjoy those bait fish coming in to get a little bit of a break from the colder water temperatures and you never know what you're going to find out there. It just looks like the tuna is running really good right now. And it looks like we're getting a lot of tuna catches. So go out there and find what you can find. Get your prize fish and enjoy it because you woke up in the beautiful Florida Keys where you barely have to put on a long sleeve t-shirt during our days of winter and you're experiencing it right now. It's gorgeous out all in all and you know what I'm going to say about it. It's absolutely the perfect day to have a perfect day. Good Tuesday. Today is Tuesday, December the 18th. And we are on the countdown. We are one week officially away from Christmas Day. So I hope you've got all your shopping done. And you are ready to just cruise into the holiday, enjoying some food, fun family and friends. So let's look at our weather forecast. For today. We've got mostly sunny skies, a few afternoon clouds high of 72 degrees today winds from the north northeast at five to 10 miles an hour, and our relative humidity has dropped to 63%. So it might actually feel a little bit cool out there today. Especially if you're out on the water, you probably need a jacket and maybe have a little protection just just in case the wind is a little too much when you're riding around out there. So if you're looking to fish today, let's talk about some of the fishing conditions are atmospheric pressure is rising is going from 30.03 to 30 point one two for the majority of the day, except in the overnight hours, there's not really a Chance of precipitation. So enjoy a beautiful, beautiful sunny day cooler with less humidity. So less sweating going on! Our UV index is a moderate five. So be aware that you will get sunburned if you're out in the direct sun. Our water temperature - holding steady at 75 degrees. Swells will be dropping all day starting early in the morning at about three and a half foot and then drop down to about a foot and a half by the end of the day. So just be aware when you're ever you go out that you know you could have some higher waves in the morning. Our sunrise today is 7:06am sunset will be at 5:43pm. If we're looking at our tide chart. The first low tide is at 12:04am an second low tide is it 11:48pm. The first high tide will be at 6:30am. And the next high tide will be 11:18pm. We've got 10 hours and 37 minutes - whew - it just keeps chopping time off every single day, 10 hours and 37 minutes of sunshine today. Once we get past the full moon and the winter solstice of the 21st our days should start getting a little bit longer each day. Our solar transit today takes place at 12:24pm. Our tidal coefficient is average today at a 63. If you're just looking at solunar activity to determine whether you should fish today, I'll be honest with you, the solunar activity charts are not giving you as good of an indication of what a good fishing day it may be as actual weather conditions are. We do have periods of two fish activity from the major periods and 9:12pm to 11:12pm or minor periods are only one fish activity from 2:46am to 3:46am. However, if we're looking at the Gulf Stream, I gotta tell you, I'm encouraged by what I'm saying. If you're looking to go offshore - what's going to be happening this week with the Gulf Stream is that it's going to be begin moving offshore slightly before it comes back in near the full moon around the 21st and 22nd. Also during the time most of this week as that Gulf Stream kind of shifts off shore just a little bit. You have very low wave height all week long in the Gulf Stream. So once it starts coming back in toward the full moon, it does get a little more wave height out there in the Gulf Stream. So you want to watch that, but I'm not convinced that it wouldn't be a great day to go trolling and you can find your luck - you might have some the bait fish coming in off the deeper waters and you might have other fish following them. So with the Gulf Stream being so close to the reef, and being just offshore, it's not a bad gamble. It's definitely great weather conditions. And also we are now in the five day window before the full moon. And the five day window after the full moon also applies where it is supposed to be a better chance of catching a wahoo if you're trolling off shore, it doesn't necessarily have to be the deepest water ever whenever that Gulf Stream is in. And also the bait fish are coming in from the cooler water so might be worth checking out every single day is a different day when it comes to looking at all these factors. If we look at the solunar charts today, it does give us an overall one fish activity. But that doesn't mean it's a complete waste of time to head off shore. You might have some great fishing activity. Plus you might be able to end up with dinner and that sort of thing. And that's always a good day. So no matter where you are and what you're doing. I know we've seen the weather reports calling for major floods and blizzards, and all this kind of crazy weather, winter weather and the rest of the country. Be thankful you've woken up in a beautiful beautiful island you're living in an endless summer and today is the perfect day for you to have a perfect day. Welcome to Sunday Fun Day. We've only got one more to celebrate before Christmas. Today is Sunday, December the 16th. And our weather forecast for the greater Key West area and the lower Florida Keys. We've got a mixed bag. We've got some sunshine. And we've got some clouds. A high today of 76 degrees, low tonight of 65. We only have a 10% chance of precipitation today. And winds are from the north northwest at 8 miles per hour. Our relative humidity holding steady at 71%. Ore atmospheric pressure is on the rise today. It starts out at 30.06 and heads up to 30.18. Our UV index today is a 5 so that's more moderate than it has been. But still if you're out exposed to the direct sunshine please make sure you wear some sunscreen and some UV protection. Our water temperature has inched back up a degree and it's 75 degrees. Do remember that we're seeing more manatees in the canals and other shallow water areas because they're seeking warmer water. So do be on the lookout for them as you're in shallower areas. Today, offshore swells will range from 3.5 to about 5 feet. Our sunrise this morning is 7:04am or sunset will be 5:42pm. We see our first high tide today starts at 3:59am. The next high tide is a 4:54pm. Our first low tide is at 10:14am. And the next low tide is 11:06pm. Overall, we've only got 10 hours and 38 minutes of precious precious daylight today. So the solar transit is down to 12:23pm. Our tidal coefficient today is 46. So that's a very low value. If you're relying on our Solunar charts in order to determine when the best days and times to fish are, let me tell you about the major periods today. And this is whenever we have very high activity which would be considered three out of three fish on the fish scale. From 7:14am to 9:14am, we have the opposing lunar transit in which the moon is setting then we also have in the evenings from 7:40pm to 9:40pm, where the moon is rising. Again, those are the three fish activity periods. Minor activity is two fish activity today, and that's from 12:59am to 1:59am and from 12:29pm to 2:29pm. We're still in the waxing gibbous phase of the moon. And we're looking forward to coming up on the full moon on the 22nd. As we take a look at the Gulf Stream to help determine what our offshore conditions are going to be. The Gulf Stream has moved back in a little closer to shore and in the Gulf Stream, if you make it out there, you'll experience one to two foot waves. So not a terrible day with zero percent chance of precipitation and our winds only topping out about eight miles an hour today, it might be a really good day to get out into the Gulf Stream. When the Gulf Stream does come in close like this and you have baitfish making their way into shallower waters, you also get a lot of those offshore fish coming in a little closer than usual. So it might be a great day to go out and try your luck out in the Gulf Stream and see what you can catch trolling. If not, the reef is always a great option. Just be aware you're going to have some swells out there - not terrible problems with the wind or rain today. So pay attention to those minor and major activity periods for fishing and go out and make it the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. Key West Weather December 14 - Fishing Conditions are Improving and So are Temperatures

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 14, 2018 4:40

You've made it to another Friday. Today is Friday, December the 14th. And our weather forecast for the lower Florida Keys and the Key West area. We've got mostly cloudy skies early in the day becomes partly cloudy later on this afternoon, our high temperature will be 81 degrees. And our low will be 74. So right back down into the normal slot after our little cold front. 20% Chance of precipitation today. And our winds are from the south southeast at 16 miles an hour. Our humidity 79%. So it's going to feel a whole lot warmer than it has been. So if you're looking to get out fishing today, or if you're looking to even get out on the water - we've got falling atmospheric pressure, it's going from 30.06 to 30.0. Our UV index is backup to a six which is high. So do take precautions especially in the afternoon, whenever we have fewer clouds around. Our water temperature - I knew it was going to happen and it now has dropped to 74 degrees. So definitely a little bit chilly. With that we do have some swells this afternoon off shore getting up to about four feet. So definitely pay attention. I do not see any small craft advisories or anything yet. But there may be some so check that before you head out on the water. Sunrise today 7:03am, sunset will be at 5:41pm. Our first high tide today is going to be at 1:41am and the next high tide is at 3:17pm. The first low tide is at 8:39am. And the next low tide is at 8:37pm. Overall, you've got 10 hours and 38 minutes of daylight on a Friday and the solar transit today is at 12:22pm. Our tidal coefficient is actually low. Today it's an average of 40. And if you're looking at fishing activity on the solunar chart today, we've got very high activity. I'm talking about three fish extra bonus activity for this morning from 5:48 to 7:48 - because the opposing lunar transit which is the moon setting is actually happening at the same time the sunrise is happening. So double thumbs up because it's going to be a good fishing activity morning. Our other high activity is from 6:31pm to 8:31pm, we have one minor period of activity which is only two fish activity. Overall if you had to give it a score the whole day, it's going to be a two fish score. Now I will say this Friday, Saturday and Sunday are all going to be two fish days but because we're also going to see a significant drop off in wind you might want to make the choice of going out on the water more or spending more time off shore on Saturday and Sunday, just because the winds are going to die down to about six to seven miles an hour over the weekend. So that's what I've got my calendar marked for fishing. So it's a good thing to look ahead and know what you've got coming so you can get the best of the best conditions for your fishing trip. We're still in the waxing crescent phase of the moon and we also have our full moon coming up on December the 22nd. So be aware that the five days before and five days after the full moon are whenever our best wahoo chances are. So, if you like me chase the wahoo and got lucky and caught one the first time I went trolling and want to do it again - the best time is five days before and five days after. So that's coming up at the beginning of next week. So we'll talk about that as well. No matter what though. Listen, it's Friday. You've made it through another week. You've got another week before we kind of really check out for the Christmas holidays and you've woken up in the beautiful Florida Keys. Ore temperatures are back to being very temperate. It is a gorgeous day. Get out there. Enjoy it. You know why you live here. The weather is a great reason to be here. All in all, it makes for the perfect day to have a perfect day. Our temperatures are beginning to return to normal. We have a high of 81 degrees and a low of 75 degrees. The precipitation chance is 30% today and our winds are going to be from the southeast at 11 mph. Overall humidity is 69% we have falling atmospheric pressure. Today it's going from 30.15 to 30.06. Rain chances are pretty steady all day long so it might be hit and miss in your location Our UV index today is a five so a little bit lower than it is if it would probably not be partly cloudy and raining. So our water temperature is 76 degrees and we'll be looking for that to probably dip a little bit in the next day or so. Our sunrise this month morning 7:01 am; sunset will be at 5:41pm. The first high tide today will be at 12:47am in the next high tide is it to 12:25 pm. Our first low tide is 7:51am in the next low tide is 7:20pm today will have 10 hours and 38 minutes of sunshine and our solar transit is at 12:21pm. Our tidal coefficient is low. Today it's actually coming in at a 44. Now let's go over to our solunar charts and look at our activity we've got the major periods for today, morning and evening both coincide with sunrise and sunset. So that means there's higher than normal fish activity during these periods from 5:04am to 7:04am and from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. The activity scale on that is going to be two fish. Two out of three on the activity scale. Our minor periods dropped down to a one fish activity 11:44am to 12:44pm and 11:16pm to 12:16am. So as we look at our Gulf Stream over the next few days, we've got it pushing a little further off shore. But we also have the bait fish and other fish that are coming into warmer shallower waters to escape some of the cold. Also do be aware we've seen a lot of manatees in the canals lately because they're wanting to stay in the warmer water. So if you're out and about on the boat, you want to be looking and aware that you're probably going to run into some manatees, especially when you're in the shallow waters. All in all, even though we've got partly cloudy skies and a small chance of rain all day long. You're in the Florida Keys. It's a few days before Christmas. Everyone else in the country is dealing with winter and we are not so all in all, it is the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. Wednesday, December 12 - Warmer Temps, but Not Too Much Fishing Productivity

You made it to Hump Day. And we're now into the 12 Days of Christmas. Today is Wednesday, December the 12th. And the beautiful weather forecast for the Key West, and the Lower Keys area. High today, 74 degrees a low overnight of 70. It'll be partly cloudy today a little bit warmer than yesterday, but still really temperate. So it's a very, very nice day on tap for us. We do have a 20% chance of rain. Winds are from the northeast at 12 miles an hour and our humidity is 68%. We have falling atmospheric pressure today, going from 30.24 to 30.12. We do have a slight chance of those showers in the afternoon. So be prepared for that if you're out and about in the afternoon. Just some isolated showers popping up. Nothing to really worry about. Our UV index today is a 5 so dress appropriately. Our water temperature has warmed up just a degree. So it's up to 76 degrees - probably drop off again, after a couple days of this cold spell. Sunrise today - 7:02am, and the sunset today will be at 5:38pm. Our first high tide of the day will be at midnight. And the next high tide is at 1:36pm. The first low tide will be at 7:04am. And the next low tide will be at 6pm. Overall, we have a total of 10 hours, 38 minutes of sunshine today. Solar transit today will be at 12:18pm. Our tidal coefficient today is coming in at a 53 which is very, very average. So nothing wrong with being average when it comes to that. If we're looking for our solunar activity, not a terribly effective day for fishing. So we're still in that waxing crescent of the moon. So major periods today, you're only going to have one fish activity, which is really low, but the second major period does coincide with sunset. So it may be a little bit better from 4:45pm to 6:45pm, minor periods, 11:06am to 12:06pm, and 10:25pm to 11:25pm. So overall, if we have to give a ranking on the fish scale, it's a Zero! So maybe not the best day to go fishing. Although you never know. If you're lobstering or you're doing other things you might have a different type of results. So for looking at the jet stream, the jet stream is still very close to shore. It's going to be moving a little bit over the next few days. But it's still only one to two seas out in the Gulf Stream. So even though things might be a little bit higher, just offshore, you might be okay once you get out in the Gulf Stream. So just pay attention to that. Make sure you're double checking all your conditions, especially when you've got these higher winds, and you're in a small craft. So we don't have any small craft advisories at the moment for that, but it is pretty choppy out there. So and don't forget just a few more days and we'll be talking about wahoo fishing and that comes right before the full moon - five days before and five days after. And do be aware that as these waters get cooler, we're going to have a lot of bait fish coming into the warmer shallower water so that means other fish that are after those baitfish will be coming along with them. So you might get lucky out there with some really cool fish that you can catch not terribly far offshore. Either way, it's Wednesday, it's Hump Day we're into the 12 Days of Christmas. I hope you're feeling the Christmas spirit. And I know you're seeing it around town with the lights and the parades and all kinds of wonderful things going on. It's a perfect place to live and all in all, it's the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media.
