After 16 years the Robinvale Euston Rangers Cricket Club are playing their first home game this weekend at Len Arnott oval in Robinvale.Luke comes in to chat about it all because everyone else voted that it was his turn, and it was actually a good excuse for us to catch up and have a conversation without the distraction of the kids screaming "Mum... I'm hungry!" "Dad I'm finished doing poos!" "Mum, Parker's being annoying!" So it was actually quite nice.We also have the second part of our chat with Solunar's Brad Fyfe who had some really positive feedback from his first part and even had some new customers who mentioned they'd heard the podcast and were in to try the vegan dumplings!I know they wouldn't have been disappointed!I also discovered the gift of the vegan chocolate chip cookies in my Solunar bag this afternoon and needless to say they didn't make it back to Robinvale! Everyone wanted to have a say, and for someone who used to be quite hesitant to come in for a chat in front of a microphone, Ben Rogers from Pioneer Ford certainly doesn't take much convincing now.As soon as he found out we were in the studio on Wednesday this week he was straight over the road from the dealership to for a quick spot to send a shout out.Don't get me wrong, we love having Ben on, especially when Charlie is here because I have a team mate. It's just funny how quickly one develops confidence in front of the microphone with a bit of practise.Brad Fyfe from Solunar is our Mildura Living Weekly feature this week and I'm so thrilled he is. I LOVE his food. Now if you you haven't heard of Solunar, don't worry, I hadn't either, until Toni brought dumplings and the Yunnan salad in for a lunch a few weeks ago. So when Toni mentioned that Brad was coming in I was obviously excited for the research that had to be conducted! I like to go into these conversations well prepared and nothing says "prep" with a chef than eating lots of his food!Since this conversation I have been into Solunar the man who owns the show is running the show. Today Brad was behind the counter so I got the full tour of the facility and met the staff.When meeting all of their smiling happy faces I asked if he was struggling to find staff, and pleasantly he said not really. Rather than advertise actual positions, he advertises for good people and hence, he has the team he has now.The food was also incredible. And Happy Hump Day to you. It's the last hump day before Christmas. So today is Wednesday, December the 19th and our weather forecast for the Key West and the lower Florida Keys area - we've got another beautiful day on tap. It's high of 79 low of 74 degrees. Today we've got partly cloudy with some intervals of just straight up beautiful sunshine. Winds are coming from the east southeast at 5 to 10 miles an hour. Overall, a very calm day for winds and our humidity is it 70%. We do have a 20% chance of precipitation today. But hey, you're always going to have stuff blow through and it just moves in and moves out and no big deal. So if you're looking to get out on the water today, our atmospheric pressure is dropping - 30.06 is where it starts, and it drops to 29.97. The majority of our chance of rain today will come after 10 pm tonight. Other than that, if you look at it hour by hour, there's virtually no chance of rain all day long. So just get out there and enjoy this gorgeous, gorgeous weather. While the rest of the country is freezing, and getting blizzards and ice and all kind of crazy weather. Our UV index today is a 5 it's moderate. You will feel the sun and it will feel you if you are out there today. So take some precautions. Don't forget to put your UV protection clothes and that sort of thing on. Our water temperature is holding steady at 75 degrees. We've got swells today off shore ranging from a half a foot to foot and a half. So not huge swells. And our sunrise today is 7:06am. Our sunset is it 5:43pm. The first low tide is going to be at 12:53 am and then the next low tide is at 12:22pm. The first high tide will be at 7:31am. And then the next high tide will be at 6:59pm. If you're new to the area and just coming in for the holidays do pay attention to those tides. If you're going to get out, you know we have very shallow water around here, and there are some trips that you really need to pay attention to the tides before you plan on making. Locally, we say "You ain't been around if you ain't run aground." And I don't want that to happen to you as well. If you're looking to get out there fishing today, let's talk about our Solunar activity and the major and minor periods where we're going to have some better than normal fishing activity to fish activity. That's what the rating scale is two out of three fish activity during our major periods of activity today, 9:33am to 11:33am and 10:03pm to 12:03am. So the minor periods are one fish activity from 3:43am to 4:43am and from 3:23pm to 4:23pm. So those are our major and minor periods of fishing activity. Over all, if we had to give the day a rating out of three fish possible we would give it a one fish fishing activity. However, if you're heading out offshore to the Gulf Stream, it's beginning to move a little bit just a little bit further offshore. But it still has very, very low wave heights going on right now. So even through today, you're going to see very little I'm talking about less than a half a foot of waves out in the Gulf Stream. As it moves on toward the full moon. It's going to get a little higher and it's going to get a little more swelly and rolle-y out there. So if you - those are scientific words, so if you're out there today, you're going to have a beautiful time. It's almost flat calm with the winds being as low as they are. So just enjoy it and enjoy those bait fish coming in to get a little bit of a break from the colder water temperatures and you never know what you're going to find out there. It just looks like the tuna is running really good right now. And it looks like we're getting a lot of tuna catches. So go out there and find what you can find. Get your prize fish and enjoy it because you woke up in the beautiful Florida Keys where you barely have to put on a long sleeve t-shirt during our days of winter and you're experiencing it right now. It's gorgeous out all in all and you know what I'm going to say about it. It's absolutely the perfect day to have a perfect day. Welcome to Sunday Fun Day. We've only got one more to celebrate before Christmas. Today is Sunday, December the 16th. And our weather forecast for the greater Key West area and the lower Florida Keys. We've got a mixed bag. We've got some sunshine. And we've got some clouds. A high today of 76 degrees, low tonight of 65. We only have a 10% chance of precipitation today. And winds are from the north northwest at 8 miles per hour. Our relative humidity holding steady at 71%. Ore atmospheric pressure is on the rise today. It starts out at 30.06 and heads up to 30.18. Our UV index today is a 5 so that's more moderate than it has been. But still if you're out exposed to the direct sunshine please make sure you wear some sunscreen and some UV protection. Our water temperature has inched back up a degree and it's 75 degrees. Do remember that we're seeing more manatees in the canals and other shallow water areas because they're seeking warmer water. So do be on the lookout for them as you're in shallower areas. Today, offshore swells will range from 3.5 to about 5 feet. Our sunrise this morning is 7:04am or sunset will be 5:42pm. We see our first high tide today starts at 3:59am. The next high tide is a 4:54pm. Our first low tide is at 10:14am. And the next low tide is 11:06pm. Overall, we've only got 10 hours and 38 minutes of precious precious daylight today. So the solar transit is down to 12:23pm. Our tidal coefficient today is 46. So that's a very low value. If you're relying on our Solunar charts in order to determine when the best days and times to fish are, let me tell you about the major periods today. And this is whenever we have very high activity which would be considered three out of three fish on the fish scale. From 7:14am to 9:14am, we have the opposing lunar transit in which the moon is setting then we also have in the evenings from 7:40pm to 9:40pm, where the moon is rising. Again, those are the three fish activity periods. Minor activity is two fish activity today, and that's from 12:59am to 1:59am and from 12:29pm to 2:29pm. We're still in the waxing gibbous phase of the moon. And we're looking forward to coming up on the full moon on the 22nd. As we take a look at the Gulf Stream to help determine what our offshore conditions are going to be. The Gulf Stream has moved back in a little closer to shore and in the Gulf Stream, if you make it out there, you'll experience one to two foot waves. So not a terrible day with zero percent chance of precipitation and our winds only topping out about eight miles an hour today, it might be a really good day to get out into the Gulf Stream. When the Gulf Stream does come in close like this and you have baitfish making their way into shallower waters, you also get a lot of those offshore fish coming in a little closer than usual. So it might be a great day to go out and try your luck out in the Gulf Stream and see what you can catch trolling. If not, the reef is always a great option. Just be aware you're going to have some swells out there - not terrible problems with the wind or rain today. So pay attention to those minor and major activity periods for fishing and go out and make it the perfect day to have a perfect day. This weather report is brought to you by 43 Keys Media. Today's weather forecast for Thursday, December the 6th - today in the Florida Keys Key West area. We start out with a small craft advisory until 5am this morning. So be aware of that. Today we have a high of 76 degrees, a low of 68 degrees. So still a little cooler temperature day our humidity has dropped to 66%, we do not have a chance of rain. So you should be clear skies. Mostly sunny all day long. The only thing you've got to worry about is a 14 mile an hour wind coming out of the Northeast. So all in all, that's a pretty good day, especially if you want to try to do some fishing. Now let's talk about the atmospheric pressure. It's going to be rising from 30.0 to 30.24. And especially during the afternoon hours, you're going to see that wind kicking up a great deal. That's when you're going to see the 15 mile an hour winds coming. So do be aware of that our UV index for today is a six. So take precautions. Our water temperature is right now still holding steady at 77 degrees. But with this little cool snap. It would not surprise me if it dropped a little bit, another degree or so. Our swells - They start out the day at just after midnight really, really high. And then they drop all day long. So it won't be quite as treacherous out in the open seas. later on this afternoon. Our sunrise for today occurs is 6:58am and the sunset will be at 5:39pm. We look at our tide charts. Our first low tide is it to 55 am and the next low tide is it to 18 pm. Our first high tide is at nine 39 am. And the next high tide is at 8:55pm. Overall. Today, you've got 10 hours and 41 minutes of daylight or sunshine, so to speak. And the solar transit is at 12:18pm/ Our tidal coefficient today is an 85 which is fairly high. We're still in the waning crescent of the moon. So let's talk about our Solunar activity. Now we have three fish activity for our major period this morning, which is 11:49am to 1:49pm that is during the lunar transit. Now, very interestingly, both of our minor periods of activity also occur during sunrise and sunset, which means double Wow, extra lucky lots more activity. So very high activity from 6:12am to 7:12am. And from 5:27pm to 6:27pm. Overall, I gotta tell you, it's a three fish day on the fish scale. So the only thing that you'll really be dealing with as far as you know, obstacles to fishing and getting out there weather wise is the wind and if we look at, you know, the afternoon and evening hours, that's whenever the wind kicks up. And so you just have to be aware tomorrow evening around 7pm or and on toward midnight. We're going to have it drop off just a little bit so might want to try to do some after dark fishing. You never know it's going to be some gonna be some crazy activity out there. So go out and make it an awesome fishing day out on the water. I heard a friend Tell me yesterday that this past weekend, he caught a 52 pound wahoo in 40 feet of water. So as that Gulf Stream moves in, brings all the sailfish and some of the other big fish into a little closer to the reef, and a little shallower water. Right now the Gulf Stream is just offshore so could be a little bumpy getting out there. But then once you hit the Gulf Stream, I've heard it's really really pretty smooth sailing out there. So might be worth taking the chance just buckle in for the ride no matter what. It's Thursday. It's awesome. Today in the weather forecast for the Key West and the lower keys area, we have partly cloudy and also partly sunny day we've got a high of 86 degrees a low of 79 degrees. Our chance of precipitation today is only about 10%. And winds are holding steady about 13 miles an hour from the east southeast can have gusts up to about 22. So you do want to stay aware of that. The sunrise today 6:39am, sunset 5:39pm moonrise is that 11:58am our humidity is holding steady at 68% do point is it 73 degrees our visibility today it's a very clear day 15 mile visibility. Even though we're only going to hit about 83 degrees, it's going to feel about 92 with the humidity. Now we do have some falling atmospheric pressure, which means it could be good for some fishing if you're looking at how that affects your bite. So we've got falling atmospheric pressure all day long from 30.06 down to 29.94. So the majority of the day we're under falling barometric pressure UV index is still very, very strong at a seven. So make sure you're protected a wearing 30 SPF or higher our current water temperature around Key West is still right around 80 degrees. So not much fluctuation with that air temperature is about 80 water temperatures about at our title coefficient for today is only about 53. So that means we don't have a significant difference in the height of the waves. We will have some swells that can reach up to three feet. But our most of the time the waves are going to be anywhere from a half a foot to about a foot and a half. So not significant wave heights predicted all day long. One of the unusual things about today when we look at our tide chart is that we have the first low tide at 6:48am. And the next low tide is at 5:57pm. But the only high tide of the day will be at 1:22pm.So the solar transit is at 12:11pm. So it's kind of unusual to only have one high tide of the day. And that's going to be at 1:22pm. Today, is a very low solunar activity day. So it's not predicted to be great fishing. If you believe in the Solunar charts and you go by them for your fishing times - doesn't mean you shouldn't get out and try it. As we get closer to the new moon, at the end of the month, we will be having some of that activity increasing. But right now in the quarter moon and the three quarter moon not a lot of solunar activity going on right now. Doesn't really matter though, because it's going to be a beautiful day anyway. So if you're out on the water. If you're enjoying the sandbar or just enjoying some snorkeling, there should be plenty of activity. All in all, it's a perfect day to have a perfect day.
