A podcast by girls of color for girls of color where we create our own narratives, share our stories and talk about things that are important to us!
The Girl Truth: What Lens Are You Looking Through? podcast is simply superb and exudes confidence. From the very first episode, I was blown away by the level of professionalism displayed by these young ladies. It's evident that they have put a lot of thought and effort into creating a podcast that not only resonates with their target audience of girls of color but also anyone who is willing to listen. The growth that they have already shown in such a short time is impressive, and I can't wait to see how this podcast develops over time.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is the authenticity with which these young ladies speak. They truly speak from their hearts, sharing their own stories and life experiences. This creates a sense of connection with the listeners, making it easy to relate to what they are going through. It's not just about discussing issues specific to girls of color; it's about highlighting universal truths that anyone can learn from and find inspiration in.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its enlightening nature. The topics discussed are thought-provoking and tackle important social issues, such as representation, identity, self-love, and empowerment. The conversations are always meaningful and provide valuable insights into different perspectives. It's refreshing to hear young voices speaking up about these matters and offering their unique viewpoints.
If there was one thing that could be improved upon in this podcast, it would be the frequency of new episodes. As someone who has become hooked on listening to what these young ladies have to say, I often find myself eagerly waiting for the next episode to be released. I understand that creating a quality podcast takes time and effort, but I believe that more frequent updates would keep listeners engaged even more.
In conclusion, The Girl Truth: What Lens Are You Looking Through? podcast is an incredibly inspiring listen. These young girls are wise beyond their years, and their realness speaks volumes. They offer valuable insights into the future and provide hope for the next generation. This podcast is not only for girls of color but for anyone who is willing to listen and learn from their truth. I highly recommend giving it a listen and supporting these incredible young ladies on their journey.
In Girl Truth's Season Four opening episode, hosts Angela, Aniya, and Mikala discuss the how black girls are objectified from a young age. They discuss objectification in media, schools, and sometimes even within their own homes. Opening up with a candid icebreaker, reminisce on when comments about their bodies or looks first surfaced. The girl crew also discusses the challenges of navigating societal expectations surrounding the "grown woman body" and the pressures to conform to a specific image. No shade to the Sexy Redds and Ice Spices of the world, but having only that image to strive to has a big impact on their mental health and self-worth.
