So a good story makes a connection. You have to be genuine and from the heart with your story. You can connect with your audience's pain, values and desires. In that way they'll relate to you as well Stories have little effect if they don't relate to your characters. And just think back to any tv show you watched or book you read when you didn't really care whether the characters lived or died. Wasn't very compelling, was it? When we can relate to the characters in your story, it keeps you engaged. Choose characters your audience can identify with. The people who will make them say that guy or gals just like me or like someone I know whenever possible. Real customers and real employees. Today we're going to be talking about which story is most effective for your market. So, of course, it's all very well to say a tragedy plot or a mystery plot is very interesting and engaging, but it may not work for you in terms of telling your stories. So, which is most effective? If a story is not about the person that you're talking to, the hearer, he or she will not listen. A great, lasting story is about everyone, or it will not last. The “strange and familiar is not interesting, only the deeply personal and familiar”. So that's John Steinbeck, East of Eden. So, the first question you have to ask yourselves is probably figuring out who your target audience is and what are they worried about? What do they want to hear about? You've probably had some ideas swarming in your head about stories you can use for your brand. Go to http://jgtips.com/lets to get “7 ways to be visible” and other checklists and tips.
So, we've always told stories. We've always been around the fire and telling stories to each other. As soon as we started to speak and communicate, we were telling stories. So those stories from ancient times are often different from those today. They still have the same storylines. For the first human stories hatched tens of thousands of years ago to the TV program you watched the other night, these timeless storylines endure. So why are these storylines so enduring? Well, it's because they speak to fundamental emotions that all humans understand and experience. So, it's this theme all people face. Using these classic plots in your story planning can help you create something truly effective and emotional for your audience. Go to http://jgtips.com/lets to get “7 ways to be visible” and other checklists and tips.

Today we're going to talk about storytelling for your business and some successful businesses and how they've done it, as well as we'll just talk about it in a relative term. So, after nourishment, shelter and companionship, stories are the thing we need most in the world, according to Philip Pullman, British novelist. You need to share your value and what you can share so people will come back again and again to see your training. So you're probably wondering, how did she do that? How did she get on camera? How did she turn herself off of the camera? Bam. Boom. M and, but, uh, that's for another show. why should you get visible? Well, of course you can entertain your audience. I mean, that wasn't very entertaining, but you know, it's good enough. And you should, , educate your audience and you can instruct your audience on train your audience and you can sell to your audience if they get to know you and you respond back to them while you're on camera, even better, they know you're alive and you can connect to your audience. You can develop a relationship with them even if you don't know them. And you can get them to know like and trust you. So they buy.
Anyone who is in home business needs to make themselves visible especially on the internet and that is what Season 4 of Homebizstartup.tv is all about in the next year. I'm Jane Gardner and welcome. Today we're going to talk about getting visible. So let's get visible. Why? Well, why should you be visible? Well, stop hiding behind your slides like I am right now. You need to be visible. You need to be the face of your business. It's all very well to represent your business but if people don't know who the CEO is, they are not going to trust you. You need to show your face, you need to show your personality, you need to show up on a regular basis, and you need to share your knowledge, and you need to do it for free.
So let's go build a community around ideas. It's important in your branding to have a community. Community is not the Facebook group forum or YouTube comments. It's the ideas you believe in. It's about what you teach. It's about you and your personality. And if you've been following me at all, you know a bit about me. People will come back because of your ideas, what you teach, what you believe, what you can do for them. They don't come back to watch another webinar. They come back because they get value from there that they can take and use in their business. In Build your Business I go over the 15 principles in detail over 52 weeks. Be careful not to communicate that one of the selling features of your product is that the customer will be able to make money as an affiliate. You don't want your customer to join and be in your community just because they can make affiliate commissions. You want people to purchase your product and your service because they want it, not because they can be an affiliate. In Build your Business I go over the 15 principles in detail over 52 weeks. So you have to decide which media is going to be your thing. So the reason that you're doing this is that you're looking at determining your profit margin. In Dan Kennedy's book no BS time management, he says that all we need is determine how much an hour of our time is worth. It's basically the goal we've set, broken into hours. So 10,000 monthly, let's say that's your goal for income divided by reasonable hours worked, whatever that number is, is what you need to be making in order for the time you're spending there to be break even. So you want to develop a list, a sublist of your dream 100 and you probably can guess who these would be. These are the people that sell information products. You then want to segment out those that have affiliate programs. Depending on what niche you're in, this could be a very small list. So this isn't for making money. I want you to think about taking your customers on a journey. So the journey and teach method is a method that will help you to create content. You're going to create hyper unique products and services. Because once you take your audience or your customers on a journey, you save that journey and create a product from it. Because of course it will have results. Because a journey has a beginning, a middle and an end. And the end may be good, the end may be bad, but you always have an end. So whether you're selling information or other products, there are times when you'll need to develop an attention building activity that serves as the basis for new products and content. You can build affiliate relationships for every product launch. So if people know that you are doing products monthly and that there's always going to be an offer next month, then they'll be attracted to you in terms of being an affiliate for you as well as maybe using your product as a bonus for their launches. And you will always have an upsell and a cross sell for every product that you launch. So you are not going to be someone who has one product, one course to sell. Well, this is going to be your signature offer until you develop one where you have social proof and you've developed your coaching model so that you have your high ticket offer. So this is going to be the initial continuity offer. You want to consider what your signature offer is going to be and then divide it by twelve to get your monthly pricing. But you need to have a lot of members to justify the cost. So your learning center will be a step in towards your high ticket offer. And at the end of the funnel, until you develop your largest ticket offer, whatever that might be in terms of your signature coaching, you can have a continuity offer of a learning center. A key to success is to have a growth mindset. What Growth mindset means is you are willing to change, adapt or alter your direction as an Entrepreneur as your business develops. It can not grow if there is no fertilizer or ideas that develop. An Entrepreneur has to be willing to learn from his/her mistakes, failures as well as accept advice by others like mentors or even employees otherwise he/she don't have a flexible growth mindset and they get stuck in their ways. So be willing to learn and accept advice from others is a trait of an entrepreneur
To be a successful entrepreneur you have to have or develop a growth mindset so that you are willing to take action, change direction or overcome challenges and grow rather than staying in the same patterns.
Always build your network locally. There's a lot of local people in your local businesses in your area that probably don't even have an email list and of course, you can always educate them with your workshop on why they should have a list. And that would be one thing that you could do, or why they should have a podcast, depending on their business. And maybe then you'll become someone who they want to connect with and collaborate with.
