Random thoughts on the run
Howdy folks! Well the day has come! JD's Big Fat Running Journey is live, again! It is available on Spotify, Apple and Overcast currently. Adding more platforms later but if those three aren't your favs the RSS feed is https://anchor.fm/s/10460bb70/podcast/rssStarting the next episode this podcast will go back to its original format and the running will happen at JD's Big Fat Running Journey. Thanks for the download and hope to see you over at my "other podcast". Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Time for another run and chat. It's pollen time here in PA so I was particularly sniffly on this run. Sorry about that. I was also rather cool which accentuates the sniffles as well. As the title suggests, I have an announcement. Basically I'm......not going to tell you in the show notes. Silly! You'll have to listen to find out. Enjoy!
Howdy Folks! I'm always amazed where some of these extemporaneous chats will take me. Theme parks was not some place I thought we'd go today but here we are. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Just a nice mid day run for my lunch break. Heck of a left turn conversationally speaking during this one. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! As the name states this was a jog from John Rudy county park. This and Brilhardt Station are the two spots on the York Heritage Rail Trail that I start from. Both have their pluses. Neither is particularly close to my house. The run was nice either way. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Time for another run and chat with your favorite podcaster who has a show called "I Was Just Thinking". I wish I had a nicer day to record in but it was dry for the entire run so there is that. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well I'm finally back. I didn't go anywhere but I also neglected to upload all of the recordings I created so I have a bit of a backlog of topics. This makes for a slightly longer episode but it's worth every penny, shilling, peso, franc, euro and pfennig you paid for it. I guarantee it! Enjoy!
Howdy folks!Just a short check in to discuss a purchase of running shoes that should have left the shelves a year or two ago. I found a replacement pair on Amazon so I grabbed them. They fit me perfectly so this is a big deal as running shoe companies can't leave well enough alone for more than a year. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well this was a nice surprise. Got out for a run on a 50 degree day just minutes before all the forces of nature had a fist fight in my front yard as to who could be more obnoxious. Five minutes after I got back in it rained buckets of water for about 15 minutes then 30 mph winds and 50 mph gusts came through. I lost a 25 ft tree in my front yard that came down and I was watching branches blowing off several other trees. Wasn't boring. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well with a title like this I think you know the theme. More snow on the way tomorrow, likely 5", and then some really cold sub-freezing polar stuff for about 3 days. We're expected to thaw out next Friday.....and today is Saturday. Brrr! Still there are some other things happening so let's spend time chatting about that. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Don't get excited. This episode has nothing to do with Kit Kat Bars, candy or your line in the sand for doing something. It's another throwaway title since the content didn't have an obvious one. This is the first time I'm trying my hands free mike setup while running but if the title makes you hungry....my apologies. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Today I'm trying out a new hands free microphone. Sadly it's not on a run because the weather, and more importantly my local roads, have not cooperated. Instead I wore it out to the barn as I did some barn chores. Left me know what you think of the sound quality. I already know the content is on the goofy side. ;-) Enjoy!
Howdy folks! I have an interesting concept for an episode today. The last run of 2024 and the first run of 2025 back to back. Pretty certain I've never recorded two years in one episode. Enjoy! This is another episode with some wind. Nothing I can do other than not record until March....which I'm not planning on doing. This is just a ridiculous two months of wind here.
Howdy folks! Well I'm back one last time in 2024. Nice to wrap up the year. Speaking of "wrapping up" I could go for a sub (aka Hero, Hoagie, Grinder, Bomber). More on that later. This episode is all about the momentous day of December 29th! Big anniversary day! Enjoy!
Howdy folks! I made it back. Before you ask, no. This episode has nothing to do with forestry, lumberjacking or the Canadian band Rush. I couldn't come up with a good title so I chose a "throwaway" title in for form of song lyrics. In this case the 1978 Rush song "The Trees". Oddly the episodes with the throwaway titles are often my most uploaded. Let's see if that happens again? Enjoy!
Howdy Folks! Well I didn't plan on uploading two episodes on the same day but that's where I find myself. I also didn't plan on recording on two blustery days at different ends of the same week but there again is where I find myself. Now you get the bookend reference. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well I don't think I need to describe the weather since the title has done that for me. Interesting factoid that I never hear the word blustery used to describe anything but a fall day. I have more to say but that's why you listen, right? Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Just another day in the life of your ol' friend JD. I wonder what I'll do when I'm actually healthy for 6 consecutive months? Have to wait until April to find out but you don't have to wait that long for this episode. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! As the title states, you have been challenged! Now it's not the glove to the face or pistols at dawn type of challenge but I would like you to take this challenge seriously. We'll all be better off if you do. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Today's message is about the power of positivity. Yes, things in life can be a downer but you owe it to yourself to see where the story ends. You might be pleasently surprised where you end up? Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well as the saying goes, "Plus ça change, plus c'est la meme chose." The more that things change, the more they stay the same. I had kind of hoped I wouldn't have another of these episodes this year but it is what it is. On the plus side, the weather is nice. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Welcome to another episode. The lovely Miss Reagan starts off this show and then we talk about the beginning of October, Halloween (aka Trick or Treat) and the passing of some big names recently. Taylor Swift even makes an appearance but that woman is everywhere these days. SMH. Enjoy.
Howdy folks! By the time you hear this it will already be fall. This episode though started at the tail end of summer and crossed the equinox into fall during the recording. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! No, this episode has nothing to do with the classic Earth, Wind and Fire song except it is September. It's also on the longer side so plenty to listen to. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! I'm back for another chat. Today we'll chat about past winter storms and semi-injured chickens. Why? I have no idea but that is where my stream of consciousness took me today. We'll also talk about training, an upcoming vacation in December and....The Titanium Tim Tuck. Definitely will want to hang out for that last one! Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Happy Labor Day and to our friends in Canada, Happy Labour Day! A lot going on in this episode. We start with the backdrop of a national holiday in two countries, move on to chickens names Scooter and Squeaky, my friend Carlos drops by for a few minutes, we get a visit with some horses and goats and finally a trip down the Red Lion Mile...featuring The Underwear Tree. Pretty jam packed so let's get going! Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Took you on a five mile run today so this one will be a bit longer. Have a happy Labor Day weekend! Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Nothing like a nice crisp fall morning in August to go for a run. So come along as I chat about training, vacation beards and some other stuff. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well the end of a lovely vacation week is here. Just today and the weekend and then back to work. No complaints with this one. It was a very lovely and productive week off. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Well, I'm back on the exercise (ie running) routine again. It's been a hot minute so I decided to start off with some Gwining. What's Gwining? Listen and find out. Enjoy!
Howdy! Well, I'm back again for another episode. I'm also back from my 40th high school reunion. Much to discuss. Enjoy!
Howdy all you soon to be goat generalists! I have a story to tell about one of my goats and it won't cost a lot of doe. LOL! Enjoy!
Howdy folks! I know this is a quick turnaround but I had an interesting thing happen overnight. You see, I woke up and....you really didn't think I was going to spoil the surprise, did you? Enjoy!
Some days you have to get creative with the title. Other days The Boss just hands you one. No, it's not as bad as all that but it would be a crying shame to waste such a good Springsteen song title. It is somewhat appropriate, after all. Enjoy.
Howdy folks! Remember what I was saying about not being able to go more than three months without something breaking? Well, I'm back and its my back. Sigh. Enjoy!
Howdy folks! Time for another episode. Today's episode comes with air the is thick enough to be considered an object. It's the hot sultry stuff that feels like a warm blanket as soon as you walk outside. Not my favorite running weather. Still, it beats snow. Enjoy!
Two heads are better than one so two days worth of recording should be better than one as well. Enjoy!
Ok folks the fates have given me time for the extra post production so stereo hand mike it is. Enjoy!
An update on the future of this podcast
This is an apology podcast for the absolutely atrocious audio in the recording this morning.
Only had a lot of rain last evening. Some of that rain is still hanging in the air this morning as I record this. I have a few more updates for you. Enjoy!
Welcome to day two of intermittent fasting.
Took you on a 3-mile run this morning. This episode comes with the usual banter and as a special surprise to Amish drive-bys.
Just a walk with the pup and a little chat with you
Freedom isn't free. Thank you to those who've given everything.
Welcome folks to The unofficial start of Summer here in the United States. Why don't we chat about that while I run??
Howdy folks! Yeah the title should pretty much give it away.
