It's great to see a nomination for stunt coordination! Out of all the nominees, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is definitely one of the biggest and most popular shows. Wrath of the Triple Goddess by Rick Riordan, Pahua and the Dragon's Secret by Lori M. Lee, and The Dark Becomes Her by Judy I. Lin are all available now. A Touch of Blood, the Drop of Venom companion novel, by Sajni Patel is out on February 25 We're also getting a new Nico and Will novel! What could Book 2 possibly be about?? We have a few ideas. There will be another Senior Year Adventure Book, but it won't be out in 2025. We try to figure out a timeline for when his next books will be coming out. We're so excited he said Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2 is “better, bigger, funnier, faster and wilder” than the first season. What other adaptations is Rick working on at the moment? Walker has gotten SO BIG in the last year or so. Chalice of the Gods discussion (00:31:05) Let's kick off our Chalice of the Gods discussion with chapter 22 today. We love a woman who hyphenates her last name. Annabeth taking up a culinary class and building famous landmarks out of cake makes SO MUCH SENSE. Karen has a theory as to why Annabeth chose to make green and purple cupcakes. Percy is a little shocked, but he takes Sally's surprise news very well and is super happy for his mom. We discuss whether Sally is relieved that her second child is not a demi-god. It's so cute that Percy wants to stick around to see his sibling grow up. We make sure to do our favorite lines and favorite moments. Next up is Chalice of the Gods chapter 23! Ho-Ho-Kus is a real place in New Jersey with a trade school. Is Rick making a statement on high school guidance counselors and how useless they are!? Turns out everyone wants updates from Percy today. We love all the timely references in this book and a lot of Rick's other works. Percy visits the library even though he really doesn't want to. Favorite lines and moments, as always! As a child, my daughter loved playing with her Swiss cheese at lunch. She’d place the pastel yellow square on her face like a mask, saying, “Look Mom,” her sparkly green eyes peeking out from two holes in the cheese. As a young mom, that Swiss-cheese mask summed up my feelings about my efforts—genuinely offered, full of love, but so very imperfect. Holey, not holy. Oh, how we long to live a holy life—a life set apart for God and characterized by being like Jesus. But day after day, holiness seems out of reach. In its place, our “holeyness” remains. In 2 Timothy, Paul writes to his protégé Timothy, urging him to live up to his holy calling (1:6-7). “[God] has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace,” the apostle wrote (v. 9). This life is possible not because of our character, but because of God’s grace. Paul continued, “This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time” (v. 9). Can we accept God’s grace and live from the platform of power it provides? Whether in parenting, marriage, work, or loving our neighbor, God calls us to a holy life—made possible not because of our efforts to be perfect but because of His grace.

Two years ago, I learned about the death of my first friend in this great war, a young, vibrant guy with a wheat colored hair and a mustache. He resembled a hero from an American movie about the Vietnam War or the second World war, you know the type of young Robert Redford. He proposed to his girlfriend on the eve of a full scale invasion where you are supposed to get married in the summer of 2022. He had so many plans for that summer, he was convinced that the war would be over before the warmth arrived. We all thought so. We all desperately wanted to believe that it wouldn't last long, but it was almost an adventure, a bit dangerous, but noble and interesting. And then, bam, one of us was gone and another one died a few days later. And by summer, news about friends who went missing, we were killed or captured, came in dozens. It's just an endless stream of funerals. Endless. A journalist I once worked with recently wrote a piece that includes the words "Our cemeteries are now bigger than some of our towns." Of course, it's artistic exaggeration, but there are indeed so many new graves that I feel sick near cemeteries. Thousands of the best sons and daughters of Ukraine have fallen into the ground forever because of a savage stupidity and cruelty of our enemies. We have a tradition of placing the pole with a national flag on the grave of a fallen soldier, and our cemeteries are just a sea of these flags. War is such a wild thing, where often your fate depends not on how trained, motivated, and brave you are, but on a pure chance. Once a Russian shell landed a few meters from the car I was in. It would have been certain death, but it just didn't explode. Sank into the dirt and that's it. It's just luck and nothing more, and for some reason not everyone is that lucky. Why? It's a big mystery to me. Honestly, I envy people who believe in God. We can somehow explain, or at least peacefully accept this unfairness of life, this randomness of death. Nonbelievers don't have that. We see no logic, no heavenly purpose in this horror. We just know we have to keep fighting, even when there is nothing, not even hope left.
