This week is the three year anniversary of Mary's torture and murder. Her family is still fighting for justice. Please relisten to this special episode, near and dear to our hearts. This podcast was founded on the need to bring a voice to those who are not able to speak for themselves- Stories of the voiceless is our tagline. That's never been more true than for the vulnerable population of people with disabilities. According to disabilityjustice.org “While each situation is unique, most violent crimes occur because people with disabilities are viewed as ‘easy targets' due to an assumption that they are less capable of defending themselves physically. People with developmental disabilities are at particular risk because their cognitive abilities and social skills may be compromised, making them more susceptible to predators.” Tonight we invite you to join one family's quest for justice and change in the name of their loved one, brutally murdered by people pretending to care for her. This is the case of Mary Santina Collins. Pride month is coming to a close, so as a straight person I asked a couple of friends what Pride means to them. One told me “In my opinion: Pride is the reminder that at the center of what is most precious to us is the will to protect it.”Tonight we're going to dive into two very different stories involving unsolved murders of gay men in an effort to shine some light on one of the the true dangers of homophobia: dehumanization. This is a tale of two cities, this is a tale of two Kevins. These are the cases of Kevin Fret and Kevin Clewer. Listener discretion is advised. Investigators are asking for help with evidence about the suspect known as Fernando for the murder of Kevin Clewer. They believe the suspect was NOT actually named Fernando and most likely only used that name as a ruse when he met Kevin that night. The suspect is of Puerto Rican descent and he fled to Puerto Rico after the murder, though he has returned back and forth to Chicago sometimes. This suspect was a member of the gay community in Chicago at the time. He was known for theft and prostitution. They believe the suspect has bragged to his friends about luring intoxicated men back to their apartments for sex and then robbing them. They believe aside from the murder, this is an established pattern of behavior. t's also believed that people who know him would be absolutely shocked to find he was responsible for stabbing Kevin Clewer 40 times, that it doesn't fit his outward display of his appearance or personality at all. Please call the Chicago police department if this sounds like anyone you know, even if you're not sure. For more information visit us at LostSoulsofAmerica.comTo submit a case please fill out at form at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/11GBgTu8FMrKLUAoDxXc-0Ao7EuSuqkTbMbKENL1b-Jw/editVisit us on social media @lostsoulsofamericaFollow host Jamie Day @lovejamiedayMusic by Aaron Schilb aaronschilb.comArchildsproductions.com

On a hot and humid day in July of 2018, hikers discovered the thin, frail deceased body of a man in a tent in the Everglades in Florida. Though no identification could be found, the man had food, water, and over three thousand dollars in cash. First responders also noted notebooks full of complex gaming code and other mysterious items indicating this intelligent man had many tools at his disposal, so the circumstances which led to his death of natural causes was unclear and confusing. The Collier County sheriffs office went right to work distributing the sketch of unidentified man. To their excitement, tons of people came forward recognizing right away! They'd spent a lot of time together hiking the Appalachian trail from states as far north as New York, chatting, sharing meals, getting to know each other! The problem was- not a one of them knew the man's name. They'd simply called him Mostly Harmless. That is, until the Doe warriors of the internet got a hold of the story and countless people and groups across the globe joined forces to solve this case and return his identity.
