There has to be a better way.” – Dan Miller “48 days is adequate time and, I don't care what your degree is, what your position is, what your income is, for us to create a new plan to dramatically change the direction and results that you're getting.” – Dan Miller “We have to be more creative, but the opportunities are endless for an authentic fit, even if it is a redirection.” – Dan Miller “So be clear: what is your dream? Because that's the starting point. And then we can look at what are the possibilities to walk into that.” – Dan Miller “If you really move into your zone of genius, that thing that you do extremely well, that brings you a lot of joy, it's amazing how money shows up.” – Dan Miller “I want people to think like David. In this special replay episode, we dive back into the chaotic, festive, and mischievous world of "Gremlins" (1984). Joined by special guest co-host Gerry D., we revisit this 80s classic that blends comedy, horror, and holiday spirit in a way only director Joe Dante can deliver. Gerry and I discuss first-time-watch memories, favorite scenes, and the timeless appeal of Gizmo and his unruly counterparts. We'll also uncover behind-the-scenes stories about the effects used for the Gremlins, the film's unexpected darker tones, and its legacy as a holiday favorite (or anti-holiday, depending on how you see it!). Whether you're a fan of Stripe's antics or love a good dose of 80s nostalgia, this episode is a must-listen! Here are some additional behind-the-scenes trivia we were unable to cover in this episode: There are references to the crew's previous projects, including some Spielberg shout-outs on the Kingston Falls theater marquee (where early working titles for both "Close Encounters" and "E.T." are listed), a poster for Twilight Zone: The Movie (Spielberg and Dante's first collaboration), and a mention of Dr. Fantasy (the nickname of producer Frank Marshall). The scenes set at the trade show attended by Rand Petlzer (Hoyt Axton) feature brief appearances by Spielberg, composer Jerry Goldsmith, and Robby the Robot from Forbidden Planet. Legendary animation director Chuck Jones even appears as Billy's artist friend in an early bar scene. Although it is not visible, "Four Magic Moves to Winning Golf", by Joe Dante, Sr. is on Billy's nightstand. Director Joe Dante, Jr. said his father criticized him for not making the title more visible. At the movie's end, Gizmo pops the window blind to expose Stripe to the sunlight. The original edit featured Gizmo lifting the shade, then Billy. Again, Spielberg suggested to Dante that the film show Gizmo to be more of the hero of the story than Billy. Dante agreed and the scene was edited to clearly show it was Gizmo that stopped Stripe. Jason Feifer shares how companies that have clear missions are better at navigating challenges and embracing change. If you're wondering how your company can stand out in the marketplace, he says that first, you should make a great product, but it's how you tell your story and relate to people that can make the difference. And if you want to build a long-lasting business, he says the key is to make difficult decisions early, while you still have control. What you will learn: Giving back is good for business The difference between your What and your Why Differentiate with your story Sustainable companies can have larger impacts The importance of situational awareness Resistance is for losers Get to your first failure Quotes: “This is about building long-term relationships, and that's how you make money for a long time to come.” – Jason Feifer “Frankly, if you're going to survive as a business in times like these, then you have to go beyond just offering a product or service. You have to be really meaningful to people in their lives.” – Jason Feifer “The companies that are really crystal clear about their mission are the ones that are going to thrive, and the other ones may not have a place in this new world.” – Jason Feifer “Can you identify what role you played in people's lives and then pivot towards that? This is something I think that we all need to be doing all the time.” – Jason Feifer “So, the way that you differentiate is not just by the great product that you make, though of course, you should make the best product you can. But it's also the story that you tell and the way you relate to people.” – Jason Feifer “You can't do good with your company unless your company is profitable. Because otherwise it's not there to do good with.” – Jason Feifer “The only thing you can do with that is to trust yourself and understand what you know and what you don't know and continually strive to be better and to be open, I think, about what your own concerns are.” – Jason Feifer “When people resist a new innovation, the only thing that they really do, is they stop moving and they let everybody pass them by, because the future is not optional. You can't opt out of the future.” – Jason Feifer “There's an element of faith and risk that goes into anything, and you have to be willing to take that to achieve anything great.” – Derrick Kinney “You're going to have failures along the way, so make sure you at least get to your first failure and then see how you react and see if you can get your company through it, because it's going to happen. You're going to have a lot of them.” – Jason Feifer Free Valuable Report for our Listeners: “3 Beliefs About Money Your Kids Should Learn That No One is Teaching Them” https://goodmoneyframework.com Follow Good Money Good Hands Good Work on Instagram! https://www.instagram.com/goodmoneyframework Recommended Resources: JasonFeifer.com Entrepreneur.com

You would think the most brilliant of entrepreneurs would rarely face failure. After all, didn't they just come up with one genius idea and money started flooding in? Not the case for Netflix co-founder, Marc Randolph. The truth? Marc was told, “That will never work,” more times than he could count. In this vulnerable conversation, Marc shares the challenges and harsh rejection he faced during the early days of Netflix and peels back the curtain of the often-glamorized world of entrepreneurship. And he says the problems you see every day in your business or your job could be your golden ticket to big profits. Subscribe and listen now to my conversation with Marc on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! You Will Learn That: • You build skills by doing them • Pain is the parent to ideas • Entrepreneurship is a grind • There is no easy way • There's always a reason not to do something • Why you should think less and do more • If you wait, you're too late • Nobody knows anything Quotes: • “The way you learn to make better decisions is by making decisions.” – Marc Randolph • “Start small, build momentum. And that allows you to bet on yourself and place bigger bets because you can be confident in your own abilities.” – Derrick Kinney • “Once you've learned to really articulate the problem and see the problem clearly, almost without even thinking about it, ideas begin popping into your mind.” – Marc Randolph • “And it was this realization at that moment that there was no easy way. There was no trick. There was no magic bullet. There wasn't a way around. And, as my Dad used to say, ‘Sometimes the only way out is through.'” – Marc Randolph • “If you don't start, you're never going to get anywhere. There's always a reason not to do something.” – Marc Randolph • “So, the lesson there is, you can't over commit. Whatever you think is an overcommitment is probably just barely enough to land that trick.” – Marc Randolph • “The uncertainty is everything. If you wait until you can see around the corner enough to be confident that your idea is going to work, I guarantee you're too late.” – Marc Randolph • “The most important skill of a good entrepreneur is, are they creative and clever enough to figure out ways to try their ideas that are quick, simple, and cheap? Because then they can try hundreds of ideas.” – Marc Randolph Are you a financial advisor? Join the exclusive email list for financial advisors HERE. Get access to Simple Teen Success HERE. But what if it was the one thing keeping you from reaching clients and customers all around the world? In our conversation, Eric reveals how he finds time to nurture and protect his creative side—and why you must do the same thing if you want to avoid burnout and keep your business growing. We wanted to share this replay from several years ago, because it covers the concept of hope and its relationship with mental health really well. In this episode, we'll share how hope work with the help of traditional wisdom, neuroscience, and personal experiences. We'll also highlight what we call the "enemies of joy." These include brain imbalance, an unsettled mind, and the illusion of separation. As always, we'll also note the scientifically-backed benefits of being hopeful, which include better life satisfaction, a stronger sense of purpose, and higher possibility of achieving set goals. Good thing (#FineYoungCannibals) Producer Casey is there to set the record straight, as we reveal our own exhaustively exhausting rankings of the Beatles catalog, and also delve into other major Beatles news, like:
(Special note: Today we have a special replay of this bonus episode of The Good Money Podcast.) Bohn Crain is the first student to make a debut on the podcast and he's a college senior at Dallas Baptist University. Bohn was referred to me by my business attorney who told me a story about a young man that his son met at college. He said Bohn set a goal of meeting one new person a day. And I thought that was amazing. Today, Bohn talks about how he came up with this idea, the power of meeting and connecting with people, and an honest look at how that goal has paid off. Plus, Bohn shares how he feels misunderstood by people and how he's constantly working to reinvent himself. Which doesn't stop when you become an adult! If you know a teenager who is struggling to make meaningful connections with adults or their friends, send this episode to them. Or maybe you've faced a lot of rejection recently and could use a pep talk to put yourself out there again. Bohn's going to encourage and motivate you to get back in the game. Because sometimes, it all starts with simply saying hi to the person next to you. Connect with Bohn HERE. 2023 has been a big year for independents. And most of the time not in a good way. From Kyrsten Sinema to RFK Jr. to No Labels, 2023 was a steady succession of negative hits to the independent brand in all of the usual ways. Spoilers and grifters jumping on the bandwagon after being kicked off of all of the other wagons. Hangers on. Pretenders to the throne. Whatever you call them, we saw them all in 2023. And yet, there was one bright spot. A beacon shining in the dark night. A reason for hope in a year filled with mediocrity. Mayor Yemi Mobolade (@yemiformayor) rocked the political world when he was elected as the independent Mayor of Colorado Springs earlier this year. His infectious positivity swept him into office, winning the election in the conservative Colorado Springs mayoral race this last May. But he's more than just a mayor. He is our proof of concept. Proof that independents can win. And more importantly, win in places where Democrats can not. He's also proof that you, the Independent American, are the future. So before we head into whatever 2024 has in store for us, let's take a little time with host Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) to look back to Episode 228 from June 22, 2023 to reflect on the victory that Mayor Mobolade represents and maybe carry a little of that optimistic spirit forward into the new year. The future is what we make it. Happy New Year America. Every episode of Independent Americans with Paul Rieckhoff breaks down the most important news stories–and offers light to contrast the heat of other politics and news shows. It's content for the 49% of Americans that proudly call themselves independent. Always with a unique focus on national security, foreign affairs and military and veterans issues. Subscribe and listen now to this special replay episode with Marc on Apple Podcasts and Spotify! You Will Learn That: You build skills by doing them Pain is the parent to ideas Entrepreneurship is a grind There is no easy way There's always a reason not to do something Why you should think less and do more If you wait, you're too late Nobody knows anything Quotes: “The way you learn to make better decisions is by making decisions.” – Marc Randolph “Start small, build momentum. And that allows you to bet on yourself and place bigger bets because you can be confident in your own abilities.” – Derrick Kinney “Once you've learned to really articulate the problem and see the problem clearly, almost without even thinking about it, ideas begin popping into your mind.” – Marc Randolph “And it was this realization at that moment that there was no easy way. There was no trick. There was no magic bullet. There wasn't a way around. And, as my Dad used to say, ‘Sometimes the only way out is through.'” – Marc Randolph “If you don't start, you're never going to get anywhere. There's always a reason not to do something.” – Marc Randolph “So, the lesson there is, you can't over commit. Whatever you think is an overcommitment is probably just barely enough to land that trick.” – Marc Randolph “The uncertainty is everything. If you wait until you can see around the corner enough to be confident that your idea is going to work, I guarantee you're too late.” – Marc Randolph “The most important skill of a good entrepreneur is, are they creative and clever enough to figure out ways to try their ideas that are quick, simple, and cheap? Because then they can try hundreds of ideas.” – Marc Randolph Free Valuable Report for our Listeners: “3 Beliefs About Money Your Kids Should Learn that No One is Teaching Them” Recommended Resources: • That Will Never Work: The Birth of Netflix and the Amazing Life of an Idea by Marc Randolph (https://amzn.to/38EJw9U) Get access to Simple Teen Success HERE Order your copy of the USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling book Good Money Revolution here: https://amzn.to/34hSonE Ready to take your business to the next level?
