In an obvious attempt to distract from any number of dumpster fires going on in the Trump administration - the Epstein files, the murderous Venezuelan boat strikes, or maybe just his inability to stay awake during his own cabinet meetings - Donald Trump posted to social media that he will be terminating all pardons and commutations issued by Joe Biden in the event he used an autopen to sign them. Trump is forever exposing himself as not knowing what he's talking about, not to mention being supremely unfit for office, because a president of the United States has no lawful authority to revoke a pardon or commutation issued by a prior president. The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas Democrat Congressman Henry Cuellar of Laredo pardoned by President Trump. Cuellar and his wife were under indictment for what seemed to be political retribution from the Biden Administration but now, with no trial we'll never fully know. A strong candidate for the GOP just announced his campaign for TX28 yesterday so will this hurt or help? One thing to remember is that Cuellar, who almost lost last time to an underfunded Republican, has a Democratic Party Primary opponent this time who said of the pardon: “Innocent people do not take pardons.”Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.TX19: Conservative leader and Lubbock County Commissioner Jason Corley officially announced a run for Congress yesterday. Corley is not a banquets and balls self-promoting politician. He's an in-the-trenches worker for conservative government – sort of a working man's rep.In oral argument, it appears the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals will likely back Texas' election integrity law clamping down on electioneering related to mail-in ballots.Texas DPS and border patrol continue to interdict illegal aliens making it across the border with several big busts in recent days.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. Donald Trump's pardons endanger all Americans. He pardons crypto currency crooks who endanger our national security, he pardons convicted felons who possess firearms, he pardons business executives who defraud nursing homes. After pardoning more that 1500 of the "boots" of the insurrection - the angry mob he set on the US Capitol on January 6 - Trump has now pardoned 77 of the "suits" of the insurrection - the attorneys and other white collar criminals who were part of Trump's corrupt scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Glenn sat down with Liz Oyer, former Pardon Attorney for the United States, to discuss these and other pardon-related topics. In Donald Trump's second term, we've seen a flurry of pardons and commutations. Of course, every President is granted the pardon power, but with this administration, pardons often seem to have a price tag. We're joined by Liz Oyer, former US pardon attorney (appointed by Biden and fired by Trump), to discuss some of the shadier pardons doled out during Trump's second term (so far). Oyer lays out how several of Trump's pardons are motivated by money, loyalty, and retribution. Of course, we discuss the blanket pardon of the January 6th rioters, but we also examine the pardon of cryptocurrency-crook Changpeng Zhao, who Oyer says "might be the most corrupt pardon in American history." We dig into Trump's current pardon attorney, Ed Martin, a political operative who believes in "No MAGA left behind." Even Republicans found him too extreme to be a US Attorney, so Trump put him in charge of pardons and commutations. Plus, we get Oyer's unfiltered opinion of the Ghislane Maxwell/Jeffrey Epstein saga AND Hunter Biden's pardon at the end of Joe Biden's term.
