Continuing with Halloween episodes, I picked a story this week that inspired the movie The Strangers. Have you ever heard about the Keddie Cabin Murders? In 1981 this town would be forever changed when four people were murdered in cabin #28. To this day the murders has gone unsolved and I feel like I have so many questions. On the morning of April 12, 1981, 14-year-old Sheila Sharp returned to her family's cabin in Keddie, California after spending the night at her friend's house for a sleepover. Sadly, Sheila walked in to find her mom, Glenna “Sue” Sharp, her older brother, 15-year-old John Sharp, and John's friend, 17-year-old Dana Wingate were brutally murdered. Sheila ran back to her friend's house to alert her friend's parents who alerted the police. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that Sheila's younger brothers, 10-year-old Rick and 5-year-old Greg, as well as their friend Justin Eason-Smartt who were in the cabin at the time of the attack were still alive. However, 12-year-old Tina Sharp was discovered to be missing, with her body being discovered several years later. The Keddie murders are an unsolved quadruple homicide that occurred on the night of April 11-12, 1981, in Keddie, California. The victims, Sue Sharp, her son John Sharp, her daughter Tina Sharp, and John's friend Dana Wingate, were brutally killed in house No. 28 of the Keddie Resort. Sue, John, and Dana's bodies were discovered by Sue's 14-year-old daughter Sheila, who had been staying with neighbors, while Tina's remains were found three years later. Despite multiple investigations and new leads, including a hammer discovered in 2016 and new DNA evidence, no suspects have been charged. In 1981, four people were brutally murdered in the town of Keddie, California. Inside cabin 28 of the Keddie Resort is where this awful crime occured. Sue Sharp, her son John, and his friend Dana Wingate were savagely killed with a claw hammer and a steak knife that was left at the crime scene. Sue's daughter Tina was kidnapped that day and her remains wouldn't be found for three years. Three younger boys sleeping in a bedroom were left completely unharmed. One of those boys was a neighbor named Justin who had a very vivid dream or was it? He described in detail what he thought was a dream at first, but there are many similarities of what really happened that night. Could he be the sole witness to this horrible crime? Back in April of '81 a terrible act took place in the cabins of Keddie, California. It's like something out of a movie, really. A young girl returned to her cabin after a night at her friend's place, however not all was well when she walked on a brutal scene. Before her lay her mother, brother, and her brother's friend, all dead. But not just dead, but rather killed in such a vicious manner that it'd be almost uncouth to talk about. What she didn't see was her other siblings. Thankfully two boys sleeping in a room not more than 10 feet from where the murders took place were unharmed. However, the youngest sister was nowhere to be found. The investigation was rife with corruption and just terrible police work - like every crime scene on this podcast, really. And partly because of that ineptitude, the case was never solved.
