In this special episode of Nyuki Podcast, we had the privilege to be interviewed by Walter Gallacher. Mr. Gallacher began his thirty-year career in higher education teaching adults on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He spent most of his career with Colorado Mountain College where he was the Director of Marketing and more recently the Dean of Students. Since his retirement in 2005, he has been producing "Immigrant Stories," a radio program, podcast and oral history project that is gathering the recollections of immigrants who have settled in western Colorado. Throughout this episode, we dove deeper into the untold stories of our lives, the obstacles that our families endured in our native countries, and the events that happened to force us to live and resettle in the USA. Mr. Gallacher was the interviewer on our show. This was the first time both of us talked about those personal life events publicly. We hope that many of our fellow immigrants/refugees who are here and experienced similar stories can come forward to share their stories with the rest of us. Many of us still have the post-trauma from our past and the things we experienced in our earlier age. The goal of this interview was to share our story and also to encourage many to seek help or counseling to overcome some of the past dilemmas. The book is a collection of thoughtful truths that are borne out of experiences common to many. Throughout this interview, we discovered great information that Dr. Brown shared about the power of education and made sure that we tried our best to read to our children daily. She also talks about her experiences as a mother of four boys and how she met her husband while she was in college in her early twenties. She has been married for twenty-plus years now. In this episode of the Nyuki Podcast, the hosts Spany and Theo discussed several issues. In this special edition of Nyuki Podcast, part one, we had the honor of interviewing Pastor Balbin Nzapa and his beautiful wife Gladys Nzapa to discover the couple's journey. This couple has a lot of fascinating stories to share with the world about their life experiences. In part one, we discovered the life journey of Pastor Nzapa. He talked about the environment that influence his childhood to fall in love with the game of basketball at the age of nine years old. How he went on to play on the professional level in the Central African Republic Basketball League. He also mentioned that his dream was to play in the NBA, but God has a different plan for him instead. At a very young age, his journey to serve God started when he took a trip back to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in 2000. After his trip, he got Baptized and started to serve as a translator in church and the rest is history. His journey coming to the USA and settled in the state of Colorado, precisely in Denver, where he joined a local church called Messie Ministry Church, and where he met his wife and started a new journey together. Discover Black Rage by Lumiere In this episode of Nyuki, we welcomed the Founder and Director of Education For Afrika and the author of the book "Black Rage," Lumiere Bukasa. Ms. Bukasa talked about her struggle as a woman and what she experienced growing up in Africa. Ms. Bukasa's role is not only limited to her organization, but she carries many hats of a storyteller, her function in the community, and her job working as an Early college specialist in the Northeast Denver high schools precisely in the Montbello area. She talked about the lack of resources and support for minorities. In 2009, Ms.Busaka and her family emigrated from Zimbabwe as a refugee to the USA, precisely in Denver, Colorado, and the challenges she faced growing up as a kid going to school and how her parents lacked the money to pay her school fees. Ms.Bukasa talked about her role as a founder and director of a non-profit organization called Education for Afrika. She started to provide aid to Congolese women back to her home country of DRC. She has taken on new challenges to mentor African students with partners with Northeast high schools. Therefore, Ms.Bukasa pointed out that women are not educated and placed at the bottom of the society in Africa. The challenge she faces is finding the right people to run her organization back home and the lack of support in the community. The damage of sexual harassment in the community. Parents always try to cover the problem by saying things like "Trust in the Lord." In the last part of the interview, Ms.Bukasa revealed that her book story is connected to her own experience and dealing with a betrayal from a close friend. Should we blame the girls for her dress?
