Not every breastfeeding experience is created equal. Many of us who have struggled to feed our first baby are familiar with the sense of dread that comes with “failing” again. This week on The Milk Making Minutes, you will hear a story of healing through a second chance at breastfeeding. Our guest, Katherine, speaks candidly about the anxiety she felt from the moment her first child was born. Severe breastfeeding pain added to her postpartum anxiety, and despite how difficult it was emotionally, she was unable to continue nursing. When she became pregnant again, she worried that she would have a repeat of her first experience.Join us as Katherine shares the story of her breastfeeding do-over and unpacks how her second experience offered a shift in perspective on what she perceived to be a failure with her firstborn. We discuss the importance of improved support for nursing mothers, some of the factors that contribute to higher rates of postpartum depression and anxiety, and how we can bring more compassion to lactation practice. To learn more about breaking the cycle of guilt and self-doubt in your own postpartum and breastfeeding journey, make sure to tune in today!Topics discussed in this episode: Katherine's exposure to breastfeeding before it was her turn Systemic barriers to breastfeeding based on policy, not health How extreme breastfeeding pain added to Katherine's postpartum anxiety Factors contributing to higher rates of postpartum depression and anxiety Shame, guilt, and self-doubt in the nursing journey Why improved support for breastfeeding mothers is key The importance of perinatal mental health support Grief associated with choosing to end your nursing journey Katherine's experience of labor and breastfeeding with her second child The healing, self-forgiveness, and perspective of her second experience Overcoming the stigma associated with postpartum depression The importance of sharing our storiesHead to Apple Podcasts or Spotify for more episodes!Join The Milk Making Minutes Facebook Group to talk about the structural barriers that make breastfeeding so difficult and work together to chip away at each one.To get individualized lactation support from me, Lo, go here.To buy books about pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and parenting, and to support the show while doing it, go to my bookshop!Follow me on IG @milkmakingminutespodcast to laugh about breastfeeding and to see photos of guests!

For Tim much of it was learning on the job at Shield GEO and Pilar had leadership responsibility from an early age through theatre. We both share the belief that leadership should be helping people to grow and develop. We try to understand the concept of management beyond a corporate environment. Humans organise into groups and need leadership in many different contexts. We debate whether leaders are born or made. And explore important attributes for a good leader. How about you? This amazing book finally captures what fourth density new earth is like. You have read nothing like this. Is there really such a thing as heaven, where God has “prepared a place for us”? Or does life for us begin and end on planet Earth? Are all those orbs in the seemingly infinite universe just there for us to admire as we gaze up into the night sky? Or is there life on those other worlds? When we die our body remains behind on this planet, but where does the real us—soul, spirit, consciousness—go? Can something so vital one minute disappear into nothingness the next? Some say that we cannot know, that nobody has ever come back to tell us. But is this true? Many believe that angelic beings as well as “the dead” can transmit information to us telepathically via gifted human receivers, and many accounts brought through from “the other side” indicatet hat the universe is teeming with life Life in the World Unseen is a supposed true to life channeled book. The one who had died, communicated his travels in the higher and lower spirit realms to a psychic or mediamistic friend who still lived in mortal form. This book may give a look into what awaits us all on passing into the hereafter. Paul Abercrombie and James Burtt can't decide if scammers stealing your crypto is more painful than losing it yourself. They've had both happen - within days of each other! - and now are sharing the £500 lessons they learned so you don't make the same mistakes. This episode of Understanding Crypto will teach you how to recognise and avoid common scams and how to protect your digital assets. How to Get Scammed Paul and James recently minted their own social token on the Polygon network and are in the process of building out corresponding assets including a Discord server. They chose Polygon, an Ethereum side chain, for its faster processing and lower gas fees. Paul says he needed to make some adjustments to the project on Polygon, and this usually requires you to connect your wallet. Since he was using a new computer, the Polygon wallet URL wasn't saved in his browsing history so he searched Google to find the web address. “Without looking and paying too much due diligence,” he relates ruefully, “ I just clicked on the first link that came up on Google and the page popped up and it looked exactly like Polygon.” He connected his wallet and saw an error message which he dismissed as inconsequential. I'll just check it again tomorrow, he told himself. The next morning he logged in and realised that all the ETH in his wallet was gone! £150 worth!  Further investigation revealed that his crypto was moved to another wallet. He also realised where he went wrong: the ‘Polygon' site he connected his wallet to was fake. “The actual web address for Polygon's wallet is wallet.polygon.technology. …The one that I had clicked on - which turns out was actually a Google ad that had popped up at the top of Google - …was wallet but instead of two Ls it was W-A-I-L-E-T…” [Listen from 2:29] How to Scam Yourself Realising that they had been scammed sent Paul into risk management mode. He kept thinking about the million social tokens sitting in the wallet and how to protect them. The best recourse, he thought, was to move them to a new, clean wallet. They also had about £350 worth of wrapped Ethereum on the Polygon network that he wanted to secure. He created a new account in MetaMask and sent the crypto there. Then, to protect himself - or so he thought - he deleted the original MetaMask Chrome extension and reinstalled it. He entered his seed phrase to get into the original account, but the new account had disappeared! Instead of creating a sub-account, he had created an entirely new main account, which needs its own seed phrase to access. Since he didn't have that seed phrase, he can never access that new account and neither can anyone else. “So basically I then scammed myself by sending the remaining £350 of value that we had sitting there … from the account - where it was probably perfectly safe - to a new account that I've created, which we haven't got the passcode for,” Paul tells listeners wryly. [Listen from 9:52] £500 Lessons Paul and James know that some of you may enter into the world of crypto because of this podcast, so they feel duty-bound to educate you about the pitfalls and scams you can fall prey to if you're not careful (and even if you are!). Here's what they want you to learn from their painful experience:  There are numerous scam sites that look exactly like the real thing, so pay close attention to the URL you're visiting.  Don't click on an ad if you do a Google search for a crypto wallet. Use the verified search results instead. Bookmark the correct URL address of the crypto sites you transact with. Although you can look up where your stolen crypto went on the blockchain, all you would see is the thief's wallet address, not their name or any other information that can identify them. Furthermore, scammers ritually swap wallet addresses within days, so it's virtually impossible to track them down. There's no central authority you can report your lost or stolen crypto to. Once it's gone, it's gone for good. Once you create a new main account on your wallet, make sure to safely store the seed phrase so you can always access your cryptocurrency. Anyone can get scammed! Smarter, more secure wallet solutions are sure to come out in the future.  [Listen from 13:25] Decentralisation has its Downsides This podcast has extolled the benefits of decentralisation for good reason. Like everything else, however, decentralisation has its downsides. That there's no helpline to call when you have crypto issues is a big one, Paul and James agree. Throughout history there have been cycles where centralisation and decentralisation have been favoured, but the ideal scenario is most likely a balance of the two. Paul says he is all for decentralisation, but wallet providers need to be better onboarding to help their clients protect their digital assets. [Listen from 20:37] Key Takeaways Be on the lookout for scams.  Store your access keys securely. In this episode, our guest is Christian David. He is an award-winning gospel artist, musical theater actor, and playwright. Today, he will talk with us about his first ever experience in Broadway and New York. Also, he will talk about performing arts theater, and his connection with God in his performances. Stay tuned! This is an exciting one! First Experience in Times Square [5:38] When Christian first got to Madison Square, he went to see his first Broadway show, Hadestown. His checkout was smooth and all of his requirements, like a vaccine card, were in order. When he got in, he had a great seat on the second floor. Interestingly, he was seated next to a lady who went to high school with the show's director. Expectations on Hadestown Musical [7:58] Watching Hadestown on Broadway met Christian's expectations. He first heard the music from Hadestown on Sirius XM, and when he finally got to listen to them personally on Broadway, his expectations were exceeded. When the cast first came out on stage, the energy in the room was electric, and their opening made everyone in the room erupt. Energy Performing on Stage [11:39] Being a gospel artist, Christian takes the focus off himself and just goes into autopilot. And being in a position as a gospel artist for him is vastly different when performing in theater. So when he is performing, he tries to empty himself so that he can have a connection with God that flows through him and get all the work he needs to get done. Performing in Theater [13:22] The theater is where Christian goes into flow with God where he thinks about playing his part and that he deserves to play the role. He then just instills into himself that he just has to go out there and own his performance. He knows that he has practiced and rehearsed well enough to perform. Doing God's Work [14:05] God can use us in any way on any platform. And even in those venues, Christian gives the glory of his performances to God. Even though he uses the platforms and spaces of theater, he trusts God for his performances in theater and that God will make sure that he is adequately prepared. Christian's Opinion on MJ's Cancellation after his death [16:06] Like any other artist, Christian would hate for someone to ignore his art and everything he has contributed to his craft and the genre he was in. He will hate that if the reason for the ignorance is the mistakes he made in the past. He says that allegations that came out because of public opinion are just allegations. Nothing ever substantial is substantially proven. The Myth about New York [29:00] Christian felt unsafe in New York, especially when he was opening up. One of the reasons was a myth about New York that says that you should not travel to New York alone. But when he was finally there, he was always by himself all day, but he never felt unsafe. People are walking so fast and moving where they don't have time to bump into anybody or get into an altercation. Nobody ever tried to rob him or did anything bad to him. Biggest Takeaway from Going to New York [33:48] Home Alone 2 was one of the movies that Christian and his mother would watch every Christmas. When he got to New York, he went to the places where Macaulay Culkin, who played Kevin Mcallister in the movie, walked like the world-famous plaza. The experience was memorable for him, and he recommended everyone to go there.   Learn more about Christian David: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cdavidmusic/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/christiandavidmusic/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/cdavid_music Learn more about your ad choices. There's a demographic that a lot of people don't know exists. That demographic is gentlemen in the inner city who are extremely intelligent, have high grades, have massive potential, want to go to college, and be super successful. Two issues are standing in the way of this demographic achieving that success. The first issue is that they don't have access to the community that will help them become that successful. And because they don't have access to that community, they also don't have access to those powerful first experiences; the second issue.A powerful first experience is doing something you'd never thought you would do for the first time in a place that you never thought you would be in for the first time.Kenneth Chabert knows firsthand how much power first experiences have.Kenneth has a passion for communicating big ideas in very little time through the use of conversational intelligence and authentic storytelling. While working at Alex and Ani, he was known as the Prezi Master, one of only twenty-five experts in the world in Prezi. After starting a consulting practice, Kenneth worked with companies such as Trek Bikes, Amgen, Amica, and Burson-Marsteller in presentation design and authentic storytelling. In 2016, Kenneth founded the Gentlemen's Retreat, which teaches inner-city youth the art of being gentlemen through the use of emotional and conversational intelligence. They experience anything and everything a Gentlemen does - from staying in mansions to eating at some of the nicest restaurants, and are led through powerful workshops that enable them to get into top colleges and universities around the country such as Brown, Cornell, and Wake Forest University. The program has recently expanded into Montana where Kenneth curated Powerful First Experiences that give the Gentlemen experiential learning opportunities while expanding their networks.Kenneth coined the term "Powerful First Experiences." These types of experiences help people develop new levels of confidence and understanding of themselves and bridges the gap between people from different environments because PFEs lead to building empathy, better storytelling, creating larger and more diverse networks, and fostering a larger view of the world.Kenneth speaks around the world about powerful first experiences. He was featured as one of the Brave ones at Leadercast, was a TED Resident during Spring 2019, spoke at HATCH, and was a presenter at Kinnernet, and is part of the Nexus Global community. In this episode, Kenneth unpacks the model of the Gentlemen's Retreat and how impactful it is for all involved.Listen to this episode and learn about:Struggling with hearing praise (4:22)Kenneth giving credit and thanks to all of his Gentlemen (G's) (5:57)How to paint a compelling story (9:52)What the Gentlemen's Retreat is all about (14:51)Being a great partner for the Gentlemen's Retreat (20:19)How Kenneth sustains and grows the Gentlemen's Retreat (25:49)What's next for Kenneth and the G's (35:19)LinksConnect with Kenneth on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/kchabert/The Gentlemen's Retreat - https://www.gentlemensretreat.org
