Join us every week for our Sunday Message as well as conversations diving deeper into these foundational truths.
Dynamic Faith: The Power of the Mustard Seed is about establishing God's definition of faith. It's very possible that “Faith” is the most controversial topic throughout the pages of scripture. Why is that true? It's because the biggest and boldest promises are always associated “Faith.” Since that's true, this topic generates the strongest of feelings, both positively and negatively. At One City Church, we operate from the belief that the Bible is God's Word; therefore, it is true and without error. We can't pick and choose what verses we believe and keep versus what versus we doubt and delete. Since the verses on “Faith” are so prominent and important; it is essential for us to understand and apply them accurately. That's why this series is about moving from a man-centered to a God-centered perspective on “Faith.” When we read the scriptures from a man-centered perspective we misunderstand and misapply everything. We turn “Faith” into a formula and make it small and powerless. Obviously, that's the complete opposition of God's definition of “Faith.” Today's message is from Matthew 17:14-20. A father comes to the disciples asking them to heal his son. Even though the disciples have cast out demons and healed people previously, they weren't able to do it this time. All of us should be able to identify with ebbs and flows of our abiding relationship and thus our faith. How irresponsible would it be for faith to be formula? Faith is too important and too powerful to allow shortcuts. When it comes to increasing our faith, we must embrace the process of becoming a trustworthy steward and servant. This passage invites into another level of abiding and mountain moving faith by inviting us into a lifestyle of prayer and fasting.

Obviously, that's the complete opposition of God's definition of “Faith.” Today's message looks at the parable of the sower in Matthew 13. This passage is vitally important in understanding the quality of the soil. The seed is the Word of God and is obviously important, but it is the soil that determines whether the seed is received or rejected. In this message we'll look at seven important principles that we can learn from farmers in cultivating good soil. This is important for many reasons, but it vitally important in determining one's harvest. The best harvest a farmer could expect in Jesus' day was a 10-fold harvest, but Jesus promises that one can receive a 100-fold, 60-fold, or 30-fold harvest. Listen and apply the truths of this message to receive a greater harvest.
What if faith isn't about trying harder, but tuning in to what God is already saying? In this message, William unpacks the parable of the mustard seed to reveal that dynamic faith is a Kingdom seed meant to grow, expand, and redefine your life. Discover how to receive faith, steward it well, and become a living landmark of God's transforming presence.
Small and powerless is the complete opposition of God's definition of“Faith.” Today's message begins the process of replacingmisunderstanding with understanding, attending with abiding, andpowerless faith with powerful faith. This message is designed to lay the foundation that we will build on overthe next seven weeks. If there are incorrect interpretations of thesescriptures, then there must be correct interpretations. If there are wrongways to apply these scriptures, then there must be right ways to applythese scriptures. Take this journey with us and learn the secrets and powerof the mustard seed.
Holidays are important, but they're also tricky. Unfortunately, most people orient themselves to holidays from a factual perspective instead of feelings. The facts are important, but if the facts about Easter are true then they should also generate feelings. It is our hope and prayer that this Easter message enables people to believe for the first time or to believe again. In many respects, Holy Days are like Anniversaries in two primary ways. First, they should be a time to remember why we fell in love. Second, they should be an opportunity for us to renew our love. It is much easier in life to be casual than committed. Therefore, this message is designed to help people move from a casual orientation to Jesus. Tim Keller once said, “If you have a casual response to Jesus, you have no intellectual integrity.” That's a strong statement, but once the context is provided, it is also a compelling statement. If you tune in to this message, you receive an uncommon and unexpected invitation. You are invited to believe it or leave it. Hopefully, the uniqueness of that statements makes you curious enough to listen it, to believe it, and ultimately to live it.
If God gave us His definition for success, would you pay attention? Everyone in the world is battling for success, yet most of us aren't prioritizing God's definition of success. Guess what? For the vast majority, success is never easy. Success always comes with internal challenges and external opposition. This is especially true spiritually because there's an enemy fighting against God's purposes and promises. That's why God tells Joshua and Caleb time and time again to be “strong and courageous.” Success is a battle on many levels. It is a battle spiritually, mentally, and physically. In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The final message of Courageous is from Joshua 24:1-33. The goal of this message is to help you make a confident declaration. Most of us doubt our ability to make and sustain commitments. That's because the majority of our commitments are more intellectual than relational. Both of are important, but our hearts must be the driver. This message is about rediscovering the feelings behind the facts. It's vitally important for our history and holy days to be more than facts and traditions. Ultimately, history is His Story. It is so important for us to revitalize the holidays by personalizing the story. We must go beyond honoring Jesus as the Savior, but worshipping Him as our personal Lord and Savior. For many of us, we are already married, but holidays are an excellent time to renew our vows. This message is an opportunity to command your heart to wake up and be renewed. It is so easy to become too busy, too distracted, and numb out. It is time to feel again. Listen to this message with a heart to respond and be renewed.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The tenth message of Courageous is from Joshua 7:1-26. What happens when we don't heed the Word of God, but especially the warnings of God? Why does God warn us? His warnings aren't about withholding goodness; they are about protecting us. Chapter seven of Joshua is one of those chapters where God could easily be misrepresented or misunderstood. When God's consequences feel harsh, it's important to learn why. God is never harsh just for the sake of being harsh. He is good and is always looking out for our good. Tune in to this message and learn the importance of heeding God's warnings. God can use this message to protect you from some of life's greatest regrets. Lastly, the flip side of consequences are the blessings. God's heart for us is to receive the blessings and avoid the consequences.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The ninth message of Courage is from Joshua 6:1-7. What do you when the battle finally arrives? In many respects, the Israelites waited over forty years for this battle. This is the moment of faith. Faith is so much more than a set of beliefs, rather, faith is confident trust in the one true God. Would the Israelites believe an improbable battle plan? Would they trust and obey God to deliver Jericho into their hands? None of us live in this fallen and broken world without battles. God desires for us to live in the fullness of His promises today. Every battle has defining moments, what is necessary for us to win and sustain the victory on the seventh day? As you listen to this message, you'll face key decisions and actions for sustain victory:Follow His PresenceGo ForwardTake the CityDo not CovetNo Compromise

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The eighth message of Courageous is all about the keys to victory. It is important to remember that every victory has a backstory. Everyone knows about the Jericho victory, but most people don't know the backstory. This message walks us through the circumcision of approximately 600,000 men. If nothing else, that statement alone should make you curious enough to listen. However, it also walks us through the celebration of Passover, the end of the manna, and the arrival of the Captain of the Lord's Army. Victories are almost always internal before they're external. The biggest battles in life are fought internally first. Once we win the internal battles, we are equipped and empower to fight the external battles. This message will prepare you for life battles. We are to win the small battles to win the big battles.Lastly, we are the Lord's soldiers. Therefore, we don't have to fight our battles alone. This is a new type of war with a new type of warfare. Our approach is radically different when we're being led by the Captain of the Lord's Army. This is the ultimate transition from fear to faith.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The seventh message of this message is from chapters 3 and 4 of Joshua. Last week was about Consecration, this week is about Crossing Over. It is important to focus on the future, but it's also incredibly important to learn from the past. If don't learn from the past, then we and even our children are doomed to repeat the past. If we don't mark the moment by creating spiritual markers then we begin the process of forgetting and failing. Please prioritize listening to this message for yourself, but also for your family and friends. It is essential for those in our circle to know the stories of God's work in us and through us. There's lyrics in a song that says, “My God did not fail, that's the story I'll tell.” It is important for to be strategic about remembering God's work and retelling the stories. Remember Revelation 19:10 says, “For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” The more we remember old works, the more we'll experience new works.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The sixth message of this message is from Joshua 3:1-5. Verse five is one of the greatest conditional promises in all of scripture. It says, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.” What would you do to experience the wonders of God done for you and through you? Listen to the gain understanding about consecration, but more importantly, listen to this message to consecrate yourself. At the end of this message, you will be invited into and guided through a prayer of consecration. Regardless of when you listen to this message, your prayers will be heard by God in real time. Please do more than listen to this message. Whatever you do, don't rush through the ending. This is more than a message; this is an opportunity for you to consecrate yourself. You will never regret applying these truths by dedicating uninterrupted time to consecrate yourself. Ask for more of the Holy Spirit and trust the wonders of God to come in fullness.
Down on planet earth, we miss so much of God's perspective. In the fifth week of Courageous: You've Got a Lion Inside of You, we are quickly reminded that regardless of one's past, no one is disqualified from making kingdom impact. Whether you are the leader, a teammate, or an outcast, Joshua 2 and the story of Rahab provide an incredible backdrop to remind us how our opportunities to exercise courage are not lost on our Heavenly Father. Join Pastor Karin Conlee as she applies the timeless truths that Rahab and the spies' challenge us to step into so we can experience the joy of being a part of God's bigger story. Be inspired as you consider how taking one step of courage could exponentially change your future and the future of those you love.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The fourth message of this series originates from Joshua 1:7-9. God's definition of success is worthy of at least two messages; therefore, this focuses on the habits of holiness. When we put first things first, everything else falls into its proper order of importance. Tune into this message and you'll learn the priorities, plan, and pathway to experience God's prosperity.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The third message of this series originates from Joshua 1:1-9. If you knew God's definition of success, would you follow it? Absolutely, right? Tune into this message and commit to all your desires and dreams coming true. That's not a promise of our definition of health, wealth, and prosperity, but it is a promise of God's definition of success and prosperity. This message answers three crucial questions:Should you wait for God to complete the plans before you obey?Should you wait for God to remove the uncertainties before you obey? Are you missing God's promises because you are demanding the plans?Lastly, prioritize listening to this message to discover the secret behind discerning and discovering the fullness of God's will.

In this series, we're going to discover and develop the lion inside of you. The second message of this series comes from Numbers 14:1-45. This chapter is jammed packed with incredible truths on so many different levels. In addition to tuning into this message, I highly recommend reading this chapter 5 to 10 times in a discipline of observation, interpretation, and application. That's an investment of time that will yield rich results. Back to the message, learn how Joshua and Caleb had a different spirit and followed the Lord fully. This is one of the greatest compliments in scripture. To follow the Lord fully doesn't require perfection, but it does require a new understanding of what it looks like to be in an abiding relationship with God. Some people might feel defeated by the challenge to follow the Lord fully. Don't believe that lie. This is an inspiring invitation. It is an invitation to be whole-hearted. No one wants to be half-hearted. When we our hearts are focused, our lives are full. In the best use of this word, you become the exception when you follow the Lord fully.

This first message is about learning to fight the good fight. Don't believe the lie that you can avoid the fight. No one bypasses the battle. First, the enemy is too good at what he does. He's the world's best liar and only have one focus and that's to steal, kill, and destroy. While that can be intimidating, it is important to remember that God's command to be “strong and courageous” is not a man-centered command, but rather, it is a command filled with God's power to be victorious. This message is a wake-up to truly see and understand the dynamics of the battle. God doesn't want you to lose a single battle. He has prepared us to be victorious. Tune in and learn how to fulfill your God-given potential by fighting the good fight.

What comes to your mind when you hear the word “Blessing”? Whether one is a Christ follower or not, most people probably think about blessing our food. While that's important, that's not the reason the word “Blessing” is used over 500 times in the Bible. This series will explore the many definitions of the word “Blessing,” but it's most simple and straightforward definition, it means “to bestow good on one.”Obviously, the frequency and meaning of the word “Blessing” says a lot of the One who blesses. Yet it is also important for us to know that as God's children, He gives us the authority and ability to bless others. All of us want to receive blessings, but it is also vitally important for all of us to give blessings. The last message of this series is from one of the most famous passages in the Bible where an Angel wrestles with Jacob. Ultimately, all of us wrestle with God. Some of us wrestle proactively, but most of us wrestle reactively. Typically, the wrestling match is about something you can't learn any other way. Listen to this message and discover the importance of surrender and submission. Surrender is the secret to all forms of reconciliation. First, reconciliation with God; second, reconciliation with one another. Reconciliation is the first blessing, but it is also the key to stewarding the blessings of God. Everyone wants to be blessed, but not everyone wants to surrender and submit. This message is an opportunity for you to surrender and submit proactively. This is the fastest and least painful way to receive the blessing. Don't delay or doubt, the blessing is worth it on every level.
Luke 1:39-4539 In those days Mary arose and went with haste into the hill country, to a town in Judah, 40 and she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. 41 And when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, the baby leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit, 42 and she exclaimed with a loud cry, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb! 43 And why is this granted to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 For behold, when the sound of your greeting came to my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy. 45 And blessed is she who believed that there would be a fulfillment of what was spoken to her from the Lord.”

All of us want to receive blessings, but it is also vitally important for all of us to give blessings. First, a blessing was a public declaration of a favored status with God. Second, the blessing endowed power for prosperity and success. In all cases, the blessing served as a guide and motivation to pursue a course of life within the blessing. In this series, we will increase our understanding of God's blessings, but we will also learn how to be givers of blessing. This is more than wishing or even more than prayers. This is learning how to hear the voice of God and act of God's behalf to bless others. Lastly, it is a joy to receive blessings, but it is even a greater joy to give blessings.
In part one of The Blessing: It is Much More Than We Realize, Pastor Karin Conlee outlined some biblical principles to help align our hearts with truth as we enter this new series. God is a blesser and just as He blessed throughout the pages of Scripture, He wants to bless His children and give us the gift of being a blessing. When we believe the world's views on blessings we will short change all that God wants to do in and through us. Focusing on God's famous call to Abram to leave his home and “go to a land that I will show you” in Genesis 12, this message helps us see blessings that come through both relationship and obedience. Throughout this series, we will examine the many ways that God blessed His children and how that desire and opportunity is still as possible today as in Biblical times. Likewise, our steps of faith also give us the opportunity to be a conduit of God's love by being His instrument to bless those in our midst.
Numbers 13:25-28aAt the end of forty days they returned from spying out the land. 26 And they came to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation of the people of Israel in the wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh. They brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28 HOWEVER, Numbers 13:28HOWEVER, the PEOPLE who dwell in the land are STRONG, and the CITIES are FORTIFIED and VERY LARGE. And besides, we saw the descendants of ANAK there.
What happens when you give a compliment? You recognize value. The ability to assign & affirm value is a very personal gift. The ability to assign & affirm importance is a priceless gift. It's important for everyone, but it's especially important for people who've been criticized more than they've been complimented.Everyone is made in the image of God.Everyone is worth the life of God's Son.It's normal to compliment honorable people, but it's also normal to criticize dishonorable people. What could happen if we complimented the criticized?Luke 7:36Now one of the Pharisees was requesting Him to dine with him, and He entered the Pharisee's house and reclined at the table.
What are the THREE most powerful words in the world?I LOVE you. What are the FOUR most powerful words in the world?I BELIEVE in you. What are the FIVE most powerful words in the world?I am PROUD of you.
In this series, Pastors Chris & William encourage us to become a people who are known for complimenting instead of criticizing. In this second message, William dives deep into the story of the Widow's Mite, and shows why Jesus' focus on the seemingly insignificant is quite significant indeed.Rich with context behind God's own compliments, this message will help you to feel the weight of your words, hear the plea of Scripture for using our words differently, and hopefully to begin to see the unseen more regularly in your life.
What's more powerful? A criticism or a compliment?- Both are extremely powerful.- Compliments are powerful for good. (God's Voice)- Criticisms are powerful for bad. (Liar's Voice)- Both significantly influence the direction and trajectory of your life. The worst mistake a parent, teacher, or coach can make is to label akid. I beg you, never label people. The difference between shame and guilt is the difference between “Iam bad” and “I did something bad.”
When you hear the word giving in church, what runs through your mind? Let's pause for 30 seconds for all the giving stereotypes…Someone might be here today who hasn't been in church in a while and your like, “Seriously, is money all they ever talk about?”I want to teach on giving in such a way that each person sees that you are the receiver first. Receiving is the Key to Giving. The more you receive, the more you want to give. The more you receive, the more you enjoy giving. The more you receive, the more you make a difference with your giving. What have we received from God?2 Corinthians 9:15Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! (NASB) (NIV) (NKJV)John 10:10The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. 1 Corinthians 13:13So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
In part two of Pants on Fire, Pastor Karin tackles the three most common lies that the enemy whispers about us. The enemy should not be given more credit than he deserves, but he is the father of lies, and we would be foolish not to have a plan to defeat his lies. Too many Christians and those on their journey towards Christ get derailed from fulfilling their God-given purpose when they accidentally agree with a lie of the enemy. Whether you are newer in your faith journey or a seasoned Christian, the enemy doesn't give up easily.Focusing on 1 Peter 2:9-12, we are reminded of our position as sons and daughters of God that refutes the enemy's whispers. Empowered by God's word and three practical strategies, this sermon can help you be prepared to recognize the lies of the enemy, renounce the lies, and replace them with truth. Pants on Fire is a two-part series. And while most of us remember "Liar, liar, pants on fire" from childhood, it is time for followers of Christ to stop letting the enemy's lies about God and about us keep us from the fullness of life that God intends.
In part one of Pants on Fire: Extinguishing the Lies that Hinder Us,Pastor Karin tackles the three most common lies that the enemywhispers about God. The enemy should not be given more creditthan he deserves, but he is the father of lies, and we must have astrategy to play both offense and defense. Whether you are newerin your faith journey or a seasoned Christian, the enemy doesn'tgive up easily. Focusing on Psalm 103, where we are reminded ofGod's character, this message gives four strategies that will helpus keep an accurate view of God so that we can fulfill our divinepotential.Pants on Fire is a two-part series. And while most of us remember“Liar, liar, pants on fire” from childhood, it is time for followers ofChrist to stop letting the enemy's lies about God and about uskeep us from the fullness of life that God intends.
This message is filled with encouragement for all believers to have hope that your city can turn to Jesus and see Revival come. We welcome our Two Wings Conference guest speakers, Steve and Ruth Moore as they share what God has put on their hearts for the city of Memphis as well as for One City Church.
This message is from chapter 8 of Deuteronomy, verses 10-20. Thismessage is about receiving God's blessings without becoming casual, convenient, and consumeristic. It is easy for fullness to lead toforgetfulness. It's essential for us to remember who the giver of goodness is. Toremember is important for many reasons, but the most important reason isthat remembering keeps us humble instead of prideful.Lastly, every good parent gives warnings. Moses ends the Deuteronomy8:19-20 with a serious and solemn warning. Ultimately, why does anyonegive a warning? This message is an opportunity for us to protect ourselves, but more than that, it is an opportunity for us to experience the fullness ofGod's promises and provision.
This message is from chapter 28 of Deuteronomy. This is one of the mostinsightful and important chapters in all of Scripture. In this chapter, Godgives us the formula to live successfully from God's perspective. Basically, this chapter revolves around two questions:What does God want us to remember? What does God warn us not to forget? The answers to these two questions will protect you from pride and all itsaccompanying consequences. Listen to this message and learn how toreplace pride with humility and pass the test of adversity.
In this message Pastor Justin takes us into the next step in our Remember and Forget series. There is a very intentional choice we all must make in our journey of healing from our past, and that choice is to trust again. There are some areas of healing that will only be realized when we decide to embrace trust as a necessary part of our relationships, not just with people but also with God. We will look at the book of Proverbs and how the author calls us into the kind of life where we rely on God and place all of our trust in the Lord.
This message is from chapter 2 of Revelation. This passage is all aboutthree things: Remember therefore from where you have fallen, repent, anddo the works you did at first. This sounds simple, but most truths are harderto obey than to learn. This message will help you use your memory for good instead of allowingthe enemy to sabotage it for bad. God wants us to remember for thepurpose of renewal. Memories are powerful, especially because they aremore about feelings than facts.God wants us to remember why we fell in love so that we'll fall in love again. However, it's about much more than remembering. We're supposed to rememberwhat we did positively and do it again. Repentance is about so much morethan the admission of fault; ultimately it is about changing our desire, decisions, and disciplines. Repentance isn't difficult; it is a beautiful gift thatrenews everything.
This message is from chapter 6 of Deuteronomy. This passage is all about“The Shema.” Jesus was asked, “Teacher, which is the greatcommandment in the Law?” In Matthew 22:37-40 Jesus quotes “TheShema” of the Old Testament as the timeless commandment of love. If youwill remember this one commandment, this commandment can healeverything in your life: past, present, and future. If you are hurting go back to love, nothing heals like love. All of us canremember all the ways we haven't been loved perfectly or we canremember the One who is perfect love. Let's not focus on what weremember; let's focus on what God remembers. God remembers Hiscovenant and forgets our sin.If God forgets our sin, why do we remember it? It is time to remember whatGod remembers and forget what God forgets. Don't let the past keep you inpain. The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus is about your forgiveness, freedom, and future.

In this second message, William walks us through the story from Exodus 32 of Moses' intercession on behalf of the Israelites, pleading with God to spare them. In typical fashion, William flips the script and shows us this passage from a different perspective... one that makes Moses much more familiar. From how God views us and what He expects from us, to the power and promises that are available to us, this passage is rich and rife with spiritual truth that we can apply to our lives daily in order to walk with more confidence, authority and blessing.

This message is from chapter 14 of 1 Corinthians. It deals with the topic of prophesy. Unfortunately, there tends to be more misunderstanding than understanding on this topic with most believers. The goal is to clear up the misunderstanding and replace it with clarity and confidence. The gift of prophesy must be restored but it also must be used and stewarded with responsibility. Lastly, this message will share a remarkable example of a prophetic word that models the best practices and principles that should govern giving and receiving prophetic words. Every listener should walk away from message this with a greater desire and determination to fulfill 1 Corinthians 14:1, “Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy.”
This message from Luke 4:14-21, addresses the issue of healing. This topic can be challenging and complicated because it addresses our greatest needs and desires in life. People are only interested in healing when they need healing or when a loved one needs healing. Everyone wants healing on demand. Any answer but “Yes” is a hard answer that's rarely understood or well received. This message will address what the scripture does and doesn't say about healing. It will not dodge the hard questions. We will approach this message from a place of mercy. God uses mercy to move us to action. What role does He want us to play in healing? Listen to the message so that you can see more healings, but also trust God when the healing isn't immediate or even in this lifetime. We don't have all the answers, but it is better to keep believing and hold out hope for healing than to quit believing and lose hope.
The pages of scripture are full of promises for the life of every believer to be filled with divine power. We have studied many of these so far in this series, “Is there more?”But is there one overarching principle or promise that we can look to? Does God have a singular, “ultimate” purpose concerning us? If so, how does it relate to the topic of power? In this message, William takes a deep dive into the source of greater power in our lives. From the Book of Ephesians, William extracts the principles and postures necessary to unlock and unleash the limitless power God has promised to us as His Holy people. The question is “Where does the greatest power come from?” The answer may surprise you.

What does the Two Wing approach look like in your life? If the "Word of God" wing is stronger than the "Spirit of God," what is the one step you can take to strengthen your weaker wing?
This message from John 14:12-18 answers a big theological question in a powerful and practical way. Verse 12 says, “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these will he do; because I go to the Father.” How can this verse be true? The consequences are too great on too many levels if it isn't true. Tune into this message and let it answer the following questions:- Why did Jesus say this?- What did Jesus say next? - What does Jesus mean by greater works?- Was Jesus confident in His plan?- Should we be confident in His plan?
This message from John 7:37-39 answers the question, “Is There More”? Jesus is at The Feast of Tabernacles when hundreds of thousands of people traveled to Jerusalem and lived in tents for the week. That statement alone should make you curious enough to listen to the message. What Jesus does at the festival is bold and radical. He made a statement that redefined everything then and is still redefining everything today. Watch this message to learn and experience the filling that satisfies your thirst and ultimately your soul.
In this fourth message of the series, William takes an unorthodox approach to explaining both the role of the Holy Spirit and what a thriving Church looks like from a ministry standpoint. Rather than the dogmatic, didactic rhetoric that is common when attempting to dissect 1 Cor 12, William attempts to weave a much more holistic narrative, and paint a broader picture that should enrich, challenge and ultimately encourage every believer to embrace the truth of what God promises us in Scripture.
This message from Acts 2 is significant for many reasons, but especially because we are teaching on Pentecost on the actual day of Pentecost. The word Pentecost simply means 50th day. It was originally used to refer to the Festival of Weeks or Shavuot. Leviticus 23:16 instructs people to count seven weeks or “50 days” from the end of Passover to the beginning of the next holiday. It was originally a harvest festival (Ex 23:16), but, in time, turned into a day to commemorate the giving of the law on Mt. Sinai. Think about this; the giving of the law was REPLACED by the giving of the Spirit. Pentecost officially launched one of the greatest movements in history; it is time to do it again.
This message from John 15:1-11 maps out God's process for bearing fruit, more fruit, and much fruit. This progression should be the norm, not the anomaly. Prioritize tuning into this message so that you can be known by abundance, not average.
