Joshua's Covenant: Choose This Day Whom You Will Serve — With Apostle D. Todd HarrisonIn this powerful lesson, Apostle D. Todd Harrison teaches the covenant message of Joshua 1–8; 23–24 — a call to courage, obedience, and unwavering loyalty to the God of Israel. From the crossing of the Jordan, to the fall of Jericho, to Joshua's final charge, this message reveals how God fights for His people when they walk in righteousness and keep His commandments. As Joshua declared, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” "I add my apostolic witness that Jesus Christ is the Captain of our salvation, the Redeemer of Israel, and the One who leads His people into the promised land of eternal life.In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."D. Todd HarrisonApostle of Jesus ChristCalled by the Lord to all nations and generations, after the manner of the Apostle Paul (Galatians 1:1 Acts 26:13-20).
How can we enjoy the rest of God's presence?
As we conclude our Joshua: Almost Home series, we arrive at Joshua's final words to God's people. This is a powerful call to remember, respond, and choose. After years of witnessing God's faithfulness, provision, protection, and victory, Joshua gathers Israel and asks the defining question: “Whom will you serve?” It's not merely a question for ancient Israel. It's the same question every believer must answer today.Joshua reminds the people that everything they have is because of God's grace. He fought their battles. He kept His promises. He brought them home. But the gospel always demands a response. This closing message challenges us to examine our own hearts. What competes for our worship? Comfort? Success? Security? Control? Like Israel, we cannot remain neutral. We were made to worship. The good news is that while faithfulness is too heavy a burden to carry in our own strength, God has given us His Spirit to empower us to follow Him.“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The question is: What will your response be?
Who's Authority Are You Under? Choose This Day
Life and death. Blessing and curse. Scripture makes it clear — it really does come down to a choice. Too often we find ourselves stuck, waiting for the right moment or trying to sort everything out first, but God has given US the choice! In 1 Kings 18, Elijah asks a powerful question: “How long will you waver between two opinions?” That same question still speaks to us today. God hasn't left us — but we can drift when we choose our own way. And yet, even now, the invitation remains the same: choose life.Check out Pastor Kyle Doan's message “Choose This Day!"
To make an impact for the Kingdom of God means that we must begin each day in our homes. Our children need to be "trained up." Our lives need to match our lips as they observe our conduct. Let's choose today to live for the glory of Jesus!
Imagine a visitor coming to you in the middle of the night and telling you that the life you are living right now—every joy, every pain, every mundane Tuesday—will be repeated over and over again for all of eternity. Would that thought make you fall to the floor in despair, or would you view it as the ultimate divine gift? In this episode, we are going to explore the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche's greatest thought experiment, and discover how using 'The Eternity Test' can profoundly transform the way we live, love, and experience this exact moment. New Episode of the Happiness Podcast with Dr. Robert Puff, Ph.D.

Joshua 24:15 reminds us that serving God is a personal decision. No matter the choices of others, we must stand firm in our faith and commit our homes and lives to the Lord
In the final message of No Retreat, we arrive at Joshua 24 and the powerful legacy Joshua leaves at the end of his life. His challenge still echoes today: lock in your decision to serve the Lord, because indecision will always drift toward something else. This message calls us to lead our homes with intentional faith, to live for legacy over accumulation, and to stay faithful to the very end. We may not always see the full harvest of what we plant, but we sow, invest, and love anyway — refusing to retreat from what God has called us to for as long as we have breath.

Lesson Guide, Introduction: "Shechem was the place where Abraham had built an altar upon his arrival in the land, and where God first gave him the promise of the land (Gen. 12:7). Now, when the promises given to Abraham have been fulfilled, Israel renews the covenant with God at the very place where the first promise had first been given…. As Joshua's life and leadership come to a close, he draws a line in the sand and calls Israel to make a decision: “Choose this day whom you will serve.” In this message, Pastor Derek unpacks Joshua 24 and challenges us to examine what (or who) truly sits on the throne of our hearts. From the faithfulness of God through generations to the idols that quietly capture our devotion, this final chapter in Joshua reminds us that every heart serves a master, and only one can truly satisfy.
About This Series"Strong & Courageous" is a four-week journey through the life of Joshua, an ordinary man who followed an extraordinary God with bold, unwavering faith. From the moment he stood against the crowd to the day he challenged a nation to choose who they would serve, Joshua's life shows us what it looks like to trust God, obey boldly, and lead with courage even when the path ahead is uncertain. In a world full of fear, noise, and pressure to conform, this series will challenge you to step up, step out, and follow Jesus with conviction, purpose, and strength for whatever lies ahead. This Week's EpisodeAt the end of his life, Joshua stands before the people and calls them to renew their commitment: “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” In a world full of options, distractions, and deconstruction, followers of Jesus need to have the same commitment to daily declare Whom they will serve.Ready For More?Check out firstchristian.com to find opportunities to connect and grow. We'd love to see you this coming Sunday on-campus or streaming online at 9 and 11am.Follow @fcccanton on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to stay connected!Support the show
Joshua reminds Israel in this text that they have been the recipients of centuries of God's faithfulness and rescue. Yet he knows how prone they are to forgetting what God has done for them. If they forget, they will slide into serving the idols of the surrounding culture. And so will we. We must make a decisive determination regarding whom we will live for, whom we will serve.Sermon Outline:I. A History LessonII. A Decisive ChoiceIII. A Renewed CovenantSermon Discussion Questions:1. Joshua reminded Israel of God's gracious acts in their history before calling them to renewed commitment. What specific acts of God's faithfulness in your own life or family come to mind, and how does remembering these strengthen your loyalty to Him?2. What “default idols” are most tempting in your own life or in our culture (money, beauty, approval, success, etc.)? What does it practically look like to put away these false gods in your daily life?3. For those with children at home: how are you intentionally leading your household to serve the Lord? For everyone: what specific practices or rhythms have you established (or want to establish) to pass your faith on to the next generation? Where might God be calling you to take greater initiative?4. How does Jesus' call to take up our cross daily sharpen our understanding of what true commitment looks like? How does this differ from the way Christianity is sometimes presented?

Joshua 24 describes the final public act of Joshua, Israel's leader after Moses. He calls all the tribes of Israel to gather at Shechem, a place with deep spiritual significance in Israel's history. There, he delivers a farewell address and renews the covenant between God and His people. First, Joshua reminds them of everything God has done for them — starting from Abraham's calling, to the deliverance from Egypt, to victories over powerful nations in Canaan. He emphasizes that it was God, not their own strength, that gave them the land, cities, and crops they now enjoy. Joshua then challenges the people to make a decision: serve the LORD wholeheartedly or follow the gods of other nations. He makes his personal stand clear with the famous declaration, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” The people respond by affirming their loyalty to God, acknowledging His deliverance and blessings. Joshua warns them that serving God is a serious covenant and that turning away would bring consequences. They insist they will remain faithful, and he instructs them to destroy any remaining idols and devote themselves to God. Joshua formalizes this commitment by recording their agreement in the Book of the Law of God and setting up a large stone as a physical witness to their vow. After this covenant renewal, the chapter closes with the account of Joshua's death at 110 years old, the burial of Joseph's bones in Shechem (fulfilling a centuries-old promise), and the death of Eleazar the priest. The people of Israel continue to serve the LORD throughout Joshua's life and during the lifetime of the elders who knew him. #Joshua24 #AsForMeAndMyHouse #ServeTheLord #BibleChapterSummary #OldTestament #BibleStudy #CovenantRenewal #FaithfulnessOfGod #ChooseWhomYouWillServe #ScriptureStudy #BibleExplained #BibleTeaching #JoshuaInTheBible #BibleHistory #Shechem #BibleLessonsBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sendme-radio--732966/support.

Clay Sheffield's life is a miracle. Perhaps because of the faith of his three older siblings, the nearly 2-year-old little boy with a million dollar smile is still alive more than a year longer than doctors ever expected. Still, Clay's life doesn't look quite the way his family anticipated or hoped. Instead, the Sheffields are learning that sometimes the miracle is in the gift of ordinary days and in knowing that where covenants are made and kept, stories always end in happily ever after. 1:58- Clay's Emergency Delivery 8:49- Then To Now 16:09- Redefining the Miracle 19:29- The Power of “And” 22:20- The Faith of Children 29:14- Choose This Day 31:29- Covenants 33:18- Making Intentional Memories 39:45- Ordinary Days 44:43- Being Pruned 47:54- What Does It Mean To Be All In the Gospel of Jesus Christ? “I already know the ending of this story and this story is pretty great.
