In this episode we talk about GMOs, how they affect us, what they are, and so much more. We have our new segment included, "Article of the Week" as well as the classic NAME THAT SCIENTIST! of which this week, there are two... ooOOOoooh. As this episode goes on, Rachel gets more tired and more loopy, which is both entertaining and fun! Hence the title, she's going off the rails friends. On this week's episode of Science With Millennials we talked to a MF'er….a Master of Forestry! We talked to Krause who had a lot of interesting things to say about trees, fires, and more. They have the podcast “Caught in the Krause Fire” and talk about so many more things that they have accomplished. Krause has been a friend to Coty for a very long time so this was also a great interview for them to catch up and reminisce! Also make sure to listen for our favorite tree species towards the end of the episode. Krause's Bio: My name is Krause. I use they/them pronouns and I am currently finishing my Master of Forestry degree from Michigan Technological University's College of Forest Resources and Environmental Science. I am also the outreach assistant for my college, reaching out to prospective students interested in natural resources, agencies and companies in the NR field, and other colleges to collaborate and assure that students are on the right path to their dream career. I am from downstate, a little town called Freeland where I first met Coty in Girl Scouts! This is one of the reasons I became so interested in the outdoors, (the other was always being in the woods with my dad!) I went to Northern Michigan University for my undergrad where I got a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and minor in wildland firefighting. I have been a wildland firefighter for both the US Forest Service and the Michigan DNR for 4 years of my life now. I hope to be a forester out in the field for a while before getting a PhD and teaching back here at Tech in the future!
