Rising Tide barrister Neal Funnell told the court that the group did not deny that there were inherent risks in protests on water but pointed to evidence that showed police logs revealed no safety concerns or incidents during the 2023 protest.Although he accepted the police argument about safety risks, Justice Fagan acknowledged that the “organisers of Rising Tide have taken a responsible approach to on-water safety by preparing very thorough plans and protocols, by engaging members of supportive organisations to attend with outboard motor driven rescue craft and by enlisting the assistance of trained lifeguards."In his judgement, Justice Desmond Fagan affirmed that protesting without a permit is lawful".NSW Council for Civil Liberties is one of more than twenty organisations that supported the Rising Tide case.In response to the prohibition order, its Vice-President Lidia Shelly said, “Rising Tide submitted a Form 1 application so that NSW Police could work with the organisers to ensure the safety of the public. The organisers did everything right in accordance with the law. It's responsible and peaceful protesting. Instead, the police dragged the organisers to Court and furthered the public's perception that they're acting under political pressure to protect the interests of the fossil fuel industry.”

Full article: https://www.ajronline.org/doi/abs/10.2214/AJR.23.30189 Rebecca Le, MD discusses an article that combines the relationship between radiology and sustainability, which could sound like an unlikely combination to some. However, Schoen et al. prove otherwise by measuring CT net scan energy consumption and estimated savings on one of their scanners at Wake Forest. The authors found that a high correlation between CT dose report metrics and CT scanners' net scan energy consumption and that net scan energy savings could be extracted from a reduction in dose report metrics without requiring a sensor. The authors also measure the impact on CT energy savings, which is greatly impacted by reducing idle state energy consumption, or the energy the CT produces from being “on.”

Joni Mitchell's songs have soundtracked our lives and her pioneering work changed music forever. Jesca Hoop explores her extraordinary story to reveal the life behind the legend. In episode two we follow Joni from 1964 through to late 1969. Joni makes a 'bad marriage', signs adoption papers, leaves a bad marriage, makes it to Greenwich Village and then to LA's Laurel Canyon. We find out about the inspiration for some of her best known songs, including Little Green and Both Sides Now. In 1968, her recording career begins with her debut album 'Song to a Seagull'; with two more records following in quick succession - Clouds, and Ladies of the Canyon. In 1969, she is heartbroken to miss out on one of the biggest events of her generation - Woodstock. But - despite not getting to go - she writes a song that will help to define the event, and the era, in the popular imagination. “I've always been a creature of change” – Joni MitchellThrough archive, fresh interviews, narration, immersive sound design and an original score, we trace the story of an extraordinary life and explore what makes Joni Mitchell a singular artist: the genius of her lyrics; her incredible talent as guitarist, painter and producer; and her restless drive for innovation. In Legend, we follow Joni from her ‘flatlander' childhood on the Canadian prairies, through the folk clubs of Toronto and Detroit, to a redwood cottage in L.A.'s Laurel Canyon, to a cave in Crete, to a deserted desert highway, to recording studios and stages around the world. From her earliest home recordings to masterpieces like Blue, Court and Spark, and Hejira, we explore some of the stories behind her best-loved songs and celebrate her remarkable return to live performance in 2023: “like seeing, in the wild, a rare bird long feared extinct”.Our guide through the series is the California-born, Manchester-based musician, Jesca Hoop. Jesca speaks to musicians like Blake Mills, Allison Russell, Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe, who have played alongside Joni, and we hear tributes from those, like musician John Grant, who have been inspired and influenced by her music. We also hear from Joni's friends, including Larry Klein and Graham Nash; and from music critics and biographers, including Ann Powers, David Yaffe, Lindsay Zoladz, Kate Mossman, Barney Hoskyns, Miles Grier and Jenn Pelly. The Joni Mitchell Story comes from the production team behind BBC Radio 4's award-winning podcast Soul Music – “… the gold standard for music podcasts…” (Esquire).Producers: Mair Bosworth and Eliza Lomas Production Coordinator: Andrew Lewis Editor: Chris Ledgard Story Editor: Emma Harding Story Consultant: John Yorke Sound Design and Original Music: Hannis Brown Studio Engineers: Ilse Lademann and Michael Harrison Commissioning Editor: Daniel Clarke
Label: Colossus 112Year: 1970Condition: MPrice: $16.00Here's a beautiful copy of this unforgettably catchy hit single from the Netherlands group headed by Johannes Bouwens. The A side is specially edited from a 4:20 album track, and the B side is a non-album cut. Have a listen to the mp3 "snippet" of this incredibly popular song... the audio is amazing! By the way, this group was part of a mini-invasion of pop bands from Northern Europe & Scandinavia starting in 1970 that included: Shocking Blue (Holland) Blue Swede (Sweden) Harpo (Sweden) The Cats (Holland) Mouth & McNeal (Holland) Focus (Holland) Tee Set (Holland) Gasolin' (Denmark), and, of course, Abba (Sweden) Except for Abba, the invasion was brief, but vivid. Note: This beautiful 45 has a small 1 inch segment of vinyl fading from storage, which in no way effects the stunning Mint audio! The record appears new and unplayed. (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).

Monk Parakeets, also known as Argentine Parrots, are native to South America but have become popular as pets – thanks in part to their intelligence and ability to mimic human speech. But in some areas, such as Mexico, these birds have become invasive. After being released or escaping, some Monk Parakeets have formed feral populations that have quickly spread, competing with native bird species for resources.More info and transcript at BirdNote.org. Watch the Screenplay Reading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=podytSoBrMk A plant-like-alien from a distant planet receives a school assignment to help another planet without revealing themselves and gets assigned Earth. Get to know the writer: Dribbit, a whiz-kid alien from Nergal, where all life is plant-based, gets a school assignment to do a good deed for problem-filled Earth. While researching (OK, eavesdropping on) our transmissions, he overhears Earth-girl Lindsay Monroe say, “Wouldn't it be great if everyone were the same? The world would be perfect.” A lightbulb moment for Dribbit! Of course! One race = no hatred = a perfect planet! Right? Dribbit surreptitiously rockets orbs of his “cure” to Earth to turn everyone into plant-based lifeforms … green! Plus, a positive side effect: No more global warming! But realizing his good deed has created a deadly, catastrophic environmental imbalance, he rushes to Earth to make things right. He recruits Lindsay's help in a cross-country adventure to solve and reverse the runaway greening before it's too late. Pursued by federal agents and a freaked-out public, the two barely escape to Nergal to enlist the help of Dribbit's hero: the mysterious, two-headed Professor Rebnar. But even with his help, how can they save the Earth in time? You can sign up for the 7 day free trial at www.wildsound.ca (available on your streaming services and APPS). Monica Wong and Quynh Nguyen are the founders of a Little Green Cyclo. I met Monica and Quynh back in the day in 2010 when they first started with their first Vietnamese food truck serving delicious Banh Mi and various dishes. Monica grew up on the East Coast where her family owned one of the first Chinese restaurants in downtown Boston. Monica worked many years in finance, before deciding to get back in the food business. Quynh grew up in Saigon, Vietnam and spent most of her childhood playing table tennis for her country's National Team. After moving to the states working various jobs and Quynh then opened her own a Cajun restaurant in San Jose,CA. Quynh then joined forces with Monica and started Little Green Cyclo. After 13 years of business, Monica and Quinn have created not only one of the original Vietnamese Food trucks in the San Francisco Bay Area; but also now have a full service bistro and their own brand of award winning ready-to-drink Vietnamese Coffee. I really enjoyed sitting down with Monica and Quynh after being a customer for so many years. It was great to have them their story and appreciate them for all their support in my journey as well. On this episode, Tom is having a chat with Fleta Solomon, the CEO of Little Green Pharma, Australia's leading medical cannabis producer. This Perth-based company is the only producer in Australia with locally-grown products that could pass all the mandatory testing required. Over the last few years, Little Green Pharma has grown significantly, making it "not so little" anymore. A big topic discussed in this episode is their relatively recent move to Europe, where the company has set up its European base of operations just outside Odense, in Denmark. Tom had the pleasure of visiting the facility in February, which is currently the largest medical cannabis production facility in Europe. Fleta shares her personal story of how she ended up in the medical cannabis space and how Little Green Pharma grew from humble beginnings in Perth to a global production powerhouse in a relatively short period of time. Fleta also discusses some of the company's growing pains, how the board has implemented ESG practices, and what the future may hold for Little Green Pharma. “MY BIGGEST CRUSH”EPISODE #2 -: BLUE by Joni Mitchell (1971, Reprise)From the first ringing chords of the dulcimer, and that quavering, pain-wracked voice swooning, “I am on a lonely road, and I am traveling, traveling, traveling…” I was in love – madly, permanently enamored of Joni Mitchell. Everything about her – her unmatchable talent, her neurotic self-dramatizing, her doomed romanticism… turned me on. Not sexually. My love for Joni Mitchell was purely aesthetic, but it was undeniable and achingly real. And it set me on a self-destructive path, hooking up with a succession of difficult, complicated, brilliant women. Women I could never keep, women with whom I could never feel truly at home.I'm a sucker for talented women. Often though, such talent leaves very little oxygen to share in any room. Eventually I got wise, and after awhile my love life yielded a happier ending. But, oh, the ecstatic misery of doomed romance!Blue is counted as one of the greatest albums ever made. This is not an obscure choice, but my truth is my truth, and I must pay homage. Listening to songs like River (I wish I had a river I could skate away on…), A Case of You (I could drink a case of you…), California (Will you take me as I am, strung out on another man….?) conjure an emotional tidal surge with no boundaries, and I was pulled in by the heady undertow of yearning.Biographers will tell you that James Taylor, Graham Nash, and Cary Raditz (Carey, get out your cane…) are the inspirations for these songs, but 50 years on they hardly matter. What counts is that eternal voice, intimately confessing her regrets and desires to you, the listener. And then, it's just Joni and you, alone together, locked in an artistic embrace.“BLUE”- JONI MITCHELL – 1971 – Reprise Records 1) All I Want 2) My Old Man 3) Little Green 4) Carey 5) Blue 6) California 7) This Flight Tonight 8) River 9) A Case Of You 10) The Last Time I Saw Richard

The faculty lounge has reopened for 2023 and Professors Richard Epstein and John Yoo are ringing in the new year in style. On the docket: What's the potential fallout from President Biden's mishandling of classified information? And how does it compare to former President Trump's? What happens if the Supreme Court never gets to the bottom of the leak of the Dobbs opinion? Is there a sudden epidemic of incivility on the Court? And — the analysis you're all really here for — will Alec Baldwin be convicted for his role in an accidental shooting on a New Mexico film set? All that plus Yoo reviews movies, Epstein takes a left turn into the JFK assassination, and we review some of the sickest burns in Supreme Court history.

Not true. You can reach your financial goals and dreams without taking any unnecessary risks. Do you really control your retirement money? If you've got a 401(k) or IRA or similar retirement plan, the government controls it. They decide how much you can borrow and when you must pay it back, and you'll owe taxes and penalties for taking money out too soon or waiting too long – even though it's YOUR money. And thanks to our skyrocketing national debt and a Congress that continues to spend like a drunken sailor, who knows how much you'll have to pay in taxes during a retirement that could last 30 years? The extraterrestrial comedy podcast where we probe the tale of Ronald Rhys. Ronald, was a farmer. By this point, this podcast has established that farmers are the number one targets of aliens and sadly for Ronald, his experiences would be no different. Even more sadly for Ronald, these aliens utilised a somewhat earthly tool. But they wouldn't straight up cut the innocent farmer, would they? Would they? Before they get Ronald though, they had to get Ronald. As in pick Ronald up. Or did Ronald just want/need to skip work for a few days and when the word go out as to what Ronald had been up to, one thing led to another? Along the way, we discover some of the most awful things Kev and Granville have done. All that and more on this week's file.
