Midweek bowl games always throw off the regular schedule. This week’s Rose Bowl has delayed the Sons of Schmidt, but have no fear for we are here! This week, the Sons put together a shorter show for the shorter week. There are no segment breakdowns, just a full-blown Buckeye discussion on the Rose Bowl Game, the passing of the torch from the 2018 Buckeyes to the 2019 Buckeyes, and even Josh Fields. There are a few announcements to be made, in place of the Son of a Schmidt. You’ll want to know what is going on with the guys. Let us know what you think. Go Bucks! OH!

With it being the Holiday Season, we want to wish you the happiest holiday of all…Happy Sons of Schmidt Thursday to you and yours! As sad as it makes some of you, Brandon Zimmerman has returned to his co-host seat this week. However, this episode is HEAVY on Rose Bowl content. The Sons spend an entire segment looking at each side of the ball for the Rose Bowl. Segment One is the Washington Offense verses the Ohio State Defense. In Segment Two, we look at the other side of the ball. The guys also address an oft-asked #AskSoS question this week, regarding the highly touted UW Defense. Relax Buckeye fans. We know this has been a slow new week, but it’s Sons of Schmidt Thursday and we’re here to help! To start this week’s episode, the guys finally have something to say about the College Football Playoffs. After a break, The Sons take an unexpected look at the Ohio State tenure of Urban Meyer. It wasn’t really planned as this week’s show was in pre-production, but the walk down memory lane is a fun one. Let us know who you would name for each of the questions asked. The celebration following Ohio State’s B1G win in The Game may be slowing down, but the celebration of Sons of Schmidt Thursday is just getting started! To start this week’s show, Brandon Zimmerman and Mike Meals recap their visit to Columbus and the Hayes & Cannon/Ozone Staff meeting. We had a winner Friday night, and it wasn’t anyone you’d assume would beat us all at Top Golf. For the first segment, The Sons recap The Game. The Buckeyes earned another pair of Gold Pants this week. That is a special tradition for The Sons, as the show is named after Francis Schmidt, the father of the Gold Pants at OSU. There were plenty of great moments and performances to talk about from Saturday. Ohio State finally lived up to the hype that has been on this team for the entire season. The Big Ten Championship Game looms next for the Bucks. And the guys look forward to Northwestern. The Wildcats come in 8-1 in conference, and they field a much better team than the record shows. The Sons of Schmidt S3E12: The Game! Finally, the most important Thursday in November is here! That is correct, it is Rivalry Week Thursday! As everyone is spending time with their families today, it is the perfect time to listen to the newest episode of The Sons of Schmidt. To start, what does Ohio State have to do in order to move into the College Football Playoffs? Hint: win. That is the only thing they can control. For segment one, the guys look back at the best of times and worst of times. Of course, this is the offense and defense that showed up in Scarlet and Gray on Saturday in College Park. The Buckeyes offense showed a lot of positives against the Terps. And the defense showed…that they were also on scholarship. The Sons kick of Hate Week looking at the Michigan offense. For those of you who haven’t seen TTUN this season, they are nothing fancy. But they are darn good at it. Michigan still employees a fullback, and they will try to pound the football Saturday. The biggest question, of course, is “Can Ohio State’s defense slow down Michigan more than Michigan’s defense can slow down Ohio State?” Brandon and Mike look into this and weigh the Buckeye options. The Sons of Schmidt S3E12: Turtle Power! We don’t use hyperbole a lot, but the newest episode of The Sons of Schmidt contains the greatest 57 seconds of recording we have ever made. It is Sons of Schmidt Thursday on Hayes & Cannon and The Ozone Radio Network! To start, the Sons recap the newest College Football Playoff rankings. Not much has changed in the rankings or in the amount of time the Sons are giving them. For segment one, Brandon Zimmerman and Mike Meals look back at Michigan State. The Buckeyes have continued the improvements first seen against Nebraska, including a dedication to the rushing attack. Did anything in particular stand out? The guys also answer listener questions. S3E11: Sparty? No! Much like the missing Ohio State rushing attack, the Sons of Schmidt returns to The Ozone Radio Network on Hayes & Cannon. To start Sons of Schmidt Thursday, the Sons celebrate someone’s birthday. And then they dig super deep into the College Football Playoff rankings. Or, they really don’t. It is still early, and nothing is changing unless Ohio State wins out. During the first segment, the Sons look back at the Nebraska game. Where they happy with the close win? No. But did the Buckeyes do enough to give them hope that major issues have been corrected? The guys also take a couple listener questions in the #AskSoS portion of the show. For segment two, Michigan State positions itself in the crosshairs. Sparty has been a consistent thorn in Ohio State’s side recently. How do the Bucks match-up this year? Can Ohio State continue to build on the momentum the rushing attack built against Nebraska? MSU does come into the game with the #1 rushing defense in the country. But they also struggle against the pass. You may not know this, but Ohio State has a pretty good quarterback, and they should be able to take advantage of this. It may be a bye week for the Buckeyes, but it is still Sons of Schmidt Thursday! We are not sure, but you may have heard that last weekend wasn’t a great sports week for many in the state of Ohio. The Sons spend segment one looking back at the Purdue debacle. It’s a dead horse and changes need to happen, but there is nothing new from Purdue that hasn’t been wrong all season. To help with the healing process, Brandon and Mike spend the second segment looking beyond The Horseshoe to look around college football. Who has been the biggest surprises this season? Who is going to win each Power Five conference? And which four teams make the College Football Playoff? The Sons of Schmidt Podcast, hosted by Mike Meals and Brandon Zimmerman, is happy to fill that role! This is Episode 4 of the 3rd season of the show. Season 3 kicks off with Mike & Brandon making their return to the podcasting booth! This week, the Sons take a look back at where the off-season took them and the changes to the show for this season. They also take a look at Oregon State, and any concerns for the Buckeyes this season. Lastly, the heat is brought once again with the Son of a Schmidt segment to close out the show!

Michael Citro and Brandon Zimmerman get together to discuss the Ohio State football team. Spring practices are officially underway and the guys discuss some of the positional battles they are watching the most. Since the NFL Combine has happened they discuss what some of the Buckeye players have done along with the sad news of Billy Price getting hurt. This leads the guys into a discussion on who they see might be able to have a good NFL career. Michael gives a shoutout to Nathan Tomasello and what he was able to accomplish at Ohio State so far. They briefly talk a little about the Ohio State wrestling team before they go into their award winning Son of a Schmidt segment.

Mike Meihls, Brandon Zimmerman and Michael Citro all get together....again.....finally to discuss The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. Mike starts off the show asking who sang the National Anthem better after he played the NBA All'Star Game's rendition. The first segment the guys discuss some of the coaching changes or not coaching changes that have taken place. Mike steers the discussion then into recruiting. Does Urban need to build a wall around Ohio for the 2019 class like Tressel did? They also talk about being a preferred walk-on for Ohio State rather than taking a scholarship at a smaller school. The second segment the guys have a debate on if Urban Meyer is a better Buckeye football coach than Woody Hayes. They finish the show with their trademark Son of a Schmidt segment.

Michael Meihls is back showing why he is the best damn Buckeye podcast host with this weeks show. brandon Zommers joins him. The biggest question to start out the show is: Is the 2018 season a must-win season for the Buckeyes? In the second segment, they have an early look at the positional groupings. After some time away thanks to work travel interrupting the ability to record, The Sons of Schmidt return to your earhole to discuss the beatdown Ohio State put on Michigan State this past weekend. They also look ahead to Illinois and the Battle for the Illibuck. Then the guys take a look at some of the scenarios that can play out to put Ohio State in or keep them out of the College Football Playoffs this year. How crazy does college football have to get for Ohio State to be in? Or, is it really not that nuts, is Ohio State in a "win and you're in" situation?

After the Buckeyes triumphed over Bye Week, they have a HUGE showdown this weekend in Columbus with Penn State. How do the Buckeyes stack up against the #2 team in the country? No man is left behind…unless that man in our co-host Brandon who ventured off to Columbus this weekend to watch the Buckeyes. But have no fear, Sons of Schmidt fans, your hosts Mike & Michael filled in as valiantly as you would expect. That means Michael brought his A game, much like the Buckeyes did verses Maryland, and Mike was just kind of there, much like Maryland. Lots of big news this week in the Big Ten. Obviously, the Buckeyes have been building up steam and rolling through opponents as they march to the meat of their schedule. How does Ohio State handle Brandon Bowen being done for the year? For episode 13, the reduced roster of Sons take a look ahead to the children of the corn and Ohio State’s trip to Nebraska. The Huskers, who are reeling this season, have been a pain in the Ohio State side since joining the Big Ten. And no one wants to relive the last trip OSU took to Lincoln. For most of us, the only turtles we are familiar with wear various colors of cloth over their eyes, master a martial art, and eat a lot of pizza. But since DJ Durkin left AA and took over at Maryland, he is bent on changing that for the rest of the Big Ten. This week, the Sons od Schmidt take a look at the upcoming Ohio State Maryland game, and see if there is anything to fear in the turtles. Mike, Brandon and Michael take a look both behind the Buckeyes at the Rutgers game, and look ahead to Maryland. College football began at the State University of New Jersey. On that cold November day in 1869, Rutgers defeated Princeton 6-4 in what I am sure was a barn burner. Since then? It’s mostly been all downhill for the Scarlet Knights. However, when you are among the top teams in the Big Ten, and you have things you need to work on within your own team, Rutgers is exactly what you want to see next on the schedule. This week, The Sons of Schmidt prepare you for Ohio State’s matchup with Rutgers. This is Season 2, Episode 11, of The Sons of Schmidt Podcast. The University of Las Vegas. The school in Sin City that’s biggest contribution to America is being Guy Fieri’s alma mater. This week, the Rebels also have something else to add to their hat. For it was the week they were set to face off with The Ohio State University Buckeyes that marked the return of one of the best podcasters in OSU media history back onto the podcast scene. This week, we are proud to announce that Michael Citro has joined The Sons of Schmidt for a show that kicks off what will be a regular appearance. We are ecstatic to have Michael on this week, to get him back on the airwaves for you, our fans. We don’t have a set schedule of the length or time of the appearances Michael will make moving forward, but you can expect to hear him more times than not for the rest of the 2017 season. The SoS show starts this week taking a high-level look at last weekend’s game against Army West Point. As mentioned last week, there were clearly issues that need to be addressed on both sides of the ball. How did Urban Meyer and company do in addressing them? In segment two, the three Sons look at the Silver Bullets, and how they performed against Army. They also take a look at how the defense stacks up against UNLV. During the third quarter, the guys address the offense. What improvements were made from OU to Army? What should we expect to see more of moving forward? Brandon was in Columbus this week to watch the game live, so Mike had to bring in a special guest host this week for episode 9 of The Sons of Schmidt Podcast on the Ozone Radio Network. The SoS show starts this week taking a high-level look at what went wrong versus the Sooners. There are clearly issues that need to be addressed, from the coaching staff down to who plays. The basic return of The Sons of Schmidt is here! Oklahoma Hate Week has officially started after the long weekend for the Buckeyes. Mike and Brandon are leading the charge back to Columbus for the Ozone Radio Network, with episode 8 of the Sons of Schmidt podcast. We start off the show on a somber note. As many of our listening faithful knows, there was no episode 7 of the show. Mike lives in the Houston, Texas metro area, and had a few things he had to take care of last week. Instead of the normal banter, the show starts with an update on how things are going in Southeast Texas after the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. We also have a few places where people can support the region’s rebuilding efforts, like JJ Watt’s fundraising drive. We are happy to report that other than missing an episode and some relatively speaking minor damage, Mike and his family are okay. They have a lot of work to do, as does the entire area, but Texas will rebuild. I am putting the challenge out though, to Buckeye Nation, to show the country that we have the best damn heart in the land, and to support your neighbors on the Texas Gulf Coast. And I personally thank you all for everything you may have done already. In segment two, the guys get back to talking football. Brandon and Mike look at the Ohio State defense and in particular, the defensive backfield, and their play against Indiana. Even through the Buckeyes left Bloomington with a win, is there reason for concern as they match up with the high-powered Sooners offense? The SoS guys flip the script in the third segment, and look into the production of the Ohio State offense. There is discussion on how the offense looked in Bloomington, and what we can expect to see in Ohio Stadium on Saturday. We make our predictions in segment four. Brandon and Mike give you their picks for this week’s offensive and defensive MVPs, and take a stab at who wins and by what score.

It is travel day for The Sons of Schmidt this week. Brandon and Mike check in on Ohio State’s fall camp, and then take a look beyond the Columbus city limits at the rest of the 2017 college football landscape this week. This is episode 5 of the second season of The Sons of Schmidt Podcast. To start the show, the guys take a look at the updates on the right guard starter and at who will be taking the first snaps at wide receiver. And they clarify that, as much as we are loving J.K. Dobbins has been the topic of discussion everywhere, and we start this week off looking at his performance so far, along with some of the other big name freshmen, like Chase Young. Brandon and Mike get right to it…is it time to buy into the J.K. Dobbins hype? Then Mike and Brandon wrap up the show answering a couple questions from the listeners of the show, where they talk about the trap that could be opening with Indiana, any lingering effects from the dreadful performance in last season’s Fiesta Bowl, and where does Urban Meyer end his career on the list of All-Time Greatest Coaches.
