The offense scored three straight touchdowns to start the game and then scored just once more the final 42:07 of the game. Special teams miscues were the main reason for falling short while the defense couldn't get key stops when they needed them most. A very frustrating night for the Scarlet Knights.#rutgersfootball

Other sports news includes the Mets' loss, Kyle Schwarber's four homers, Jonah Tong's upcoming MLB debut, Francisco Alvarez's injury, the Yankees' win, Aaron Boone's hopes for Anthony Volpe, Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s goals, and Rutgers' season-opening win. A Cowboys fan expresses relief about Parsons' departure, with Jerry reiterating Parsons' lack of impact in big games. Hour 2 The hour began with a discussion on Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones's comments, which Jerry Recco and Willie believed given the lack of refutation. They speculated something recent must have happened. The conversation then shifted to the Mets' disappointing loss to the Marlins, a buzzkill after sweeping the Phillies. Both were hopeful for a bounce-back win with Jonah Tong's debut. C-Lo's update included more from Jerry Jones's lengthy press conference. Michael Irvin, initially adamant Parsons wouldn't be traded, later expressed shock. The Mets' three errors and five unearned runs contributed to their loss, while the Yankees dominated the White Sox. A caller discussed the tax implications of Parsons's potential new contract. The segment concluded with Jerry asking Willie about his day and yoga class, and a lighthearted discussion about which athletes and WFAN employees would make the best politicians. Hour 3 Jerry and Willie discuss the NFL, with Willie predicting the Jets can be second-best in the AFC East, the Steelers will win the AFC North, and Daniel Jones will start for the Colts all season. He sees the Giants as a dark horse. C-Lo provides an update, including Jerry Jones on the Micah Parsons trade and Andrew Thomas on his injury. Willie comments on players avoiding media. The Mets lost to the Marlins. Jerry asks Willie about Raising Cane's and to rank fast-food chicken chains. He sees the Giants as a dark horse. C-Lo updates. Jerry now associates Jennifer Garner with Capital One. Willie regretted leaving something in a car. They play a "Dog/Daredevil/true story" clip for Willie. C-Lo shares audio of Jerry Jones on the Micah Parsons trade and Andrew Thomas on his foot injury. Willie explains why players avoid reporters. The Mets lost to the Marlins after a rough night. Suzyn Waldman enjoyed Dave Sims' call of Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s home run. C-Lo found a Chris Carlin Rutgers highlight. Finally, Jerry questions Micah Parsons' podcast and asks Willie to explain Raising Cane's and rank fast-food chicken chains.
Jerry and Willie Colon fill in for Boomer and Gio. Jerry is open to a Micah Parsons trade, which Willie initially questioned due to the return, but Jerry defended, only regretting the Packers trade. C-Lo discusses the trade, noting Jerry Jones mispronounced Parsons' name. Mets lost to Marlins, Schwarber hit four homers, and Jonah Tong will debut. Francisco Alvarez has a broken pinky. Yankees beat White Sox 10-4. Aaron Boone hopes Anthony Volpe improves, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. shared his goals. Rutgers beat Ohio. It's been 329 days since Pat Hobbs resigned as AD at Rutgers and the search to replace him remains ongoing. With revenue sharing in place and more changes still to come, the Scarlet Knights are falling behind every day they are without a leader. A discussion on the frustrations of where Rutgers isn't right now, looking at other schools who have filled AD positions very quickly as well as new President Tate needing to step up right away and create alignment throughout the administration.
Tonight on NJ Spotlight News, House Republicans weigh a critical vote on President Donald Trump's sweeping spending cuts package, a day after the bill squeaked by the Senate. Plus, the leading budget officer for New Jersey Republicans weighs in on the state's new nearly $59 billion budget. Also, work is underway on the multi-billion dollar expansion of University Hospital in Newark, a step towards fulfilling a vision 50 years in the making. And, a pair of Rutgers Scarlet Knights make history, becoming the first two men's basketball players from the school to become lottery picks in the NBA draft.
The Knicks are going into free agency without a head coach. Has that ever happened before? We also somehow got into the NHL draft and the guys the Rangers and Islanders took. Then we talked about a football player from Long Island that has a bunch of D1 schools offering him scholarships. Good luck.
Knicks enter free agency coachless. We discuss the NHL draft, a top LI football recruit, and the REM song "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?", Dan Rather, and Tom Brokaw. Could the Knicks get LeBron? Is Jerry a 'father figure' to Rutgers draftees? Mets swept by Pirates; Lindor explains. Judge's two homers lead Yankees over A's. Moment of the Day: Eddie's Poop Cruise insulin sacrifice. Wing Bowl returns in February.
Hour 1 The Mets suffered a devastating sweep by the Pirates, prompting Boomer to remark on the team's poor performance and the ineffectiveness of a players-only meeting and Carlos Mendoza's ejection. Given the high payroll and dismal run production, Boomer stressed the need for accountability, while Jerry's update highlighted the Mets' struggles and included sound bites from Mendoza, Lindor, and Frankie Montas, alongside news of the Yankees' victory over the A's. Separately, the Knicks are reportedly considering Dawn Staley as a head coach, a prospect Gio dismissed as unlikely, and Malik Beasley is under federal investigation for unusual betting activity in the 2023-24 season. Hour 2 LeBron James has opted into his Lakers contract, but his agent Rich Paul's statement suggests a desire for a trade, possibly campaigning for Giannis to join the Lakers. This has led to speculation about what the Knicks would offer for LeBron, with one caller even suggesting he become a player/coach. In other news, Aaron Judge hit two homers as the Yankees beat the A's, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. had a home run and a triple. The Mets suffered their most lopsided series defeat in history. As NBA free agency begins, LeBron's future is a hot topic, while callers debated the Mets bringing back Syndergaard and deGrom, and if LeBron would force Bronny on the Knicks if he joined. Hour 3 Following former MLB player Dave Parker's passing this weekend, which coincided with the Mets' series in Pittsburgh, Gio reminisced about classic sports photography and its decline due to the internet, while Boomer claimed to have cried over an Islanders draft pick story, which Gio doubted. Both discussed their weekend family entertainment, with Gio attending a dance recital and Boomer's grandchildren seeing the Wiggles. Jerry's update focused on the Mets' continued losses to the Pirates, prompting Steve Cohen to post about the team's state on X, while the Yankees easily defeated the A's with a Cody Bellinger homer. The segment concluded with a discussion of Tom Brady dancing with Sydney Sweeney at a wedding and Gio's dissatisfaction with a thank you from a makeup artist he helped on Fire Island. Hour 4 Knicks enter free agency without a coach. NHL draft, Rangers & Islanders picks discussed. LI football player receiving D1 offers. Jerry's final update, REM's ‘What's The Frequency, Kenneth?', Dan Rather & Tom Brokaw discussed. Can Knicks get LeBron? Is Jerry a ‘father figure' to drafted Rutgers players? Mets swept in Pittsburgh, Lindor explains. Yankees beat A's, Judge homers twice. MoD: Eddie gives insulin on Poop Cruise. Wing Bowl returns in February.
Amidst a heatwave, the Mets face a "Defcon 5" losing streak, despite a favorable pitching matchup. Joe Benigno scored his fourth hole-in-one. Sean Manaea's rehab is set back by loose bodies in his arm. The Yankees also lost, with Jazz Chisholm ejected. Chase Burns dominated his MLB debut. The NBA draft is tonight, with two potential top-5 Rutgers picks. Aaron Rodgers plans a private retirement. Super tall intern Zach's picture caused a social media stir.
