Anthony breaks down the most fascinating position battle of Giants training camp: the CB2 spot opposite Paulson Adebo. While the media focus is on veterans like Greg Newsome and the reclamation project of Deonte Banks, I explain why second-round pick Colton Hood out of Tennessee has the exact toolkit to run away with the starting job this summer. We dive into Hood's stellar SEC tape—where he earned second-team All-SEC honors and allowed just one touchdown on 451 coverage snaps last year—and match his physical, press-heavy skillset to what defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson wants to execute. Plus, we break down his elite 2026 NFL Combine testing and explain how his natural playmaking instincts give him the edge over the standard veteran stopgaps. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. Leave an Amazon Rating or Review for my New York Times Bestselling book, Make Money Easy! Check out the full episode: https://greatness.lnk.to/1934DM Emmanuel Acho hung his NFL rejection letter above his bed. Stared at it every morning. Every night. That was his goal. Then at the NFL Combine, his quad tore off the bone mid-40-yard dash. Every scout watching. ESPN rolling. He hit the ground, got drafted in the sixth round, and walked away with one conclusion nobody expected: stop setting goals. Goals have a ceiling. Hit one and you've stopped short of what was possible. Miss one and your self-worth takes the damage. Acho replaced goals entirely with what he calls an objective with no limitations. Sounds like a small distinction. It isn't. He also won't model himself after Michael Strahan. Not because Strahan isn't great. Because Strahan's already taken. Washington just made one of the most ELECTRIC draft picks in recent memory — and we're breaking down every single detail. With the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, the Washington Commanders selected Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles — and the NFL world is already SHAKING. In this deep-dive episode, we go ALL IN on what Styles brings to D.C., why this pick could define the franchise for the next decade, and whether Washington is quietly building one of the most dangerous rosters in the NFC. WHO IS SONNY STYLES?A First-Team All-American and All-Big Ten selection, Styles stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 244 pounds — a certified FREAK of nature. The youngest son of former Ohio State linebacker Lorenzo Styles, Sonny began his Buckeyes career as a safety before switching to linebacker during Ohio State's championship season in 2024. The position change? Absolute ROCKET FUEL for his draft stock. At the NFL Combine, Styles posted jaw-dropping numbers: the highest vertical jump among linebackers (43.5 inches), the longest broad jump (11-2), and a 4.46-second 40-yard dash — tied for the fastest among linebackers, with a 1.56-second 10-yard split also tied for the top mark at his position. When was the last time you saw a 6'5”, 244-pound man MOVE LIKE THAT?In his final two seasons at Ohio State, Styles piled up 182 tackles (17 for loss), seven sacks, two forced fumbles, one interception, and eight pass breakups. The production is UNDENIABLE. DAN QUINN'S SECRET WEAPONHead coach Dan Quinn is HYPED — and rightfully so. Quinn called Styles “rare,” saying: “This type of linebacker — the athletic traits, the speed, the size, the length — it's not an every-year player. I'm a developmental coach — I can't wait to coach him.” Analysts are already comparing Styles to Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher, saying Washington “needed to find an alpha on defense” and that Styles should prove to be that immediately. ALPHA ENERGY. IMMEDIATELY.His selection also made NFL Draft history — it marked the first time two linebackers from the same school were drafted within the top 10 picks , with Ohio State teammate Arvell Reese going No. 5 to the Giants. THE BIG PICTURE FOR WASHINGTONAfter a brutal 2025 season derailed by injuries, the Commanders are REBUILDING with a vengeance. GM Adam Peters said: “We didn't think he was going to be there. We thought there was a low chance, but it was an easy pick when he was there and we were on the clock.” That's called WINNING the lottery, folks. No player in Thursday night's first round might have wanted to be picked by a team more than Styles wanted to be chosen by Washington. When a top-7 talent WANTS to be your guy? That's a dynasty in the making. We break down Styles' film, his fit in Daronte Jones' new defensive scheme, his potential impact on Day 1, his NFL comparables, and what his arrival means for the Commanders heading into 2026. This week's episode builds directly off Wednesday's conversation with former NFL first-round draft pick Adam Archuleta, where we discussed intent-based training, speed development, and the training methods that helped shape his rise to becoming one of the most explosive athletes in football. That conversation sparked an interesting follow-up discussion around long-term speed development, efficiency of training, and what actually separates good combine preparation from truly elite results. While Adam discussed the years of work that helped improve his speed profile, this episode shifts toward the modern world of combine preparation and the coaches who have consistently produced high-level testing performances in a shorter time frame.Enter Tony Villani.Tony is one of the most respected names in elite athlete development and NFL Combine preparation. As the founder of XPE Sports he has trained multiple first-round draft picks across the NFL, MLB, and NBA, helping athletes maximize their testing numbers and dramatically improve their draft stock. His work has helped shape the modern combine preparation landscape, particularly in speed development and explosive performance.Tony earned his Master's Degree in Exercise Physiology from George Washington University, where his graduate research on exhaustive interval training was published in the European Journal of Applied Physiology. His career path included stops with the Washington Capitals, Orlando Magic, and Cris Carter's FAST Program before launching XPE in 2002.This episode dives into the realities of speed development, combine prep, and what actually moves the needle when athletes are trying to separate themselves at the highest level.XPE: https://tonyvillani.com/SHREDmill: https://tonyvillani.com/shredmill/

Charles Davis joins Coach to discuss the upcoming NFL Draft and the evolving evaluation process in the modern era. Davis highlights how the transfer portal has shifted the focus of scouts from a player's loyalty to their disciplinary record and ability to adapt quickly to new systems, citing Indiana quarterback Mendoza as a key example. The discussion delves into the importance of the NFL Combine versus Pro Days, with Davis emphasizing that top prospects like Tennessee's Jermane McCoy can solidify their first-round status through standout local performances. Looking toward specific team needs, Davis analyzes the Tennessee Titans’ options at the number four pick—ranging from offensive line reinforcement to defensive playmakers like David Bailey—and praises the consistent drafting excellence of organizations like the Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles. The segment concludes with a critique of the New England Patriots’ recent decline in drafting efficacy under Bill Belichick, illustrating how even legendary coaches can struggle with talent evaluation in a high-stakes, multi-million dollar industry.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

NFC North Roundup: Combine Takeaways, Dalman Retires, Montgomery Traded, and Cap Crunch Moves — Dave (Vikings), Pay (Bears), and Foster (Lions) recap NFC North offseason developments, starting with mixed feelings about the NFL Combine's value and unusually fast times possibly tied to new Indy field infill. The biggest Bears news is center Drew Dalman's surprise retirement, forcing Chicago to pivot toward Tyler Linderbaum while managing cap issues and potential trades involving Tremaine Edmunds, DJ Moore, Jevon Dexter, and even QB Tyson Bagent. Detroit discusses trading David Montgomery to Houston for picks and OL Juice Scruggs, leaving the Lions thin at RB and needing OL solutions, with talk of possible Sam LaPorta trade rumors. Minnesota addresses QB uncertainty and interest rumors, Jonathan Greenard being made available via trade after seeking a raise, plans to retain T.J. Hockenson, and cap-saving cuts. They also touch on leaked NFLPA team/field grades and Packers topics including Matt LaFleur's lowered grade, cap tightness, and Super Bowl window debate. 00:00 NFC North Cold Open 01:50 Hosts And Roundup Setup 02:28 Combine Takeaways 04:42 Why The Combine Was Fast 06:41 Drew Dalman Retires 09:17 Stadium And Field Grades 11:23 Bears Center Plan And Cap 17:32 Bears Trade Rumors 21:44 Kyler Murray To Minnesota 25:52 Vikings Offseason Uncertainty 28:38 Lions Trade Montgomery 32:49 Lions Trade Rumor Fallout 34:20 Super Bowl Window Talk 35:06 Backup QB Options 37:30 Diggs Reunion Question 38:36 Packers Grades Hot Seat 43:26 Vikings Edge Trade Drama 48:48 Vikings Cap Cuts Targets 51:49 Division Cap Crunch Needs 55:50 Bears Chase Pass Rusher 58:15 Vikings QB Uncertainty 01:00:18 Wrap Up Shows Plug FAN WITH US!!! Vikings QB Buzz After the 2026 Combine: McCarthy Uncertain, Richardson Rumors, and Roster Priorities — Darren and Dave discuss Vikings news coming out of the 2026 NFL Combine, emphasizing “smokescreen season” and major quarterback uncertainty: neither Kevin O'Connell nor interim GM Rob Brzezinski committed to J.J. McCarthy as the 2026 starter, though O'Connell still calls him a potential franchise QB while saying the timeline has changed. Brzezinski says he has final say on roster decisions with collaboration and wants a baseline QB level to reach the playoffs; trade talk includes mutual interest with Anthony Richardson and a report that Carson Wentz is expected back, with other veteran possibilities mentioned. They note no combine trade buzz on Jordan Addison, but highlight Jalen Nailor's looming free agency and projected strong market. They review leaked NFLPA report cards with the Vikings ranked second overall again, and cover Brzezinski's role, Kwesi Adofo-Mensah joining the 49ers, and Vikings draft focus on thin cornerback and safety depth, citing several combine meetings with safety prospects. 00:00 QB Buzz After Combine 01:44 Live Show Kickoff 04:09 Combine Intel And Front Office 08:42 McCarthy And QB Room Options 16:01 Smoke Season And Budget Talk 20:15 Addison Rumors And Draft Meetings 25:34 NFLPA Report Cards Leak 33:09 Kwesi Lands In San Francisco 37:12 GM Search Questions Ahead 38:14 Scouting Department Overhaul 39:56 GM Hire Implications 41:33 Jalen Nailor Free Agency 43:04 Nailor Market And Tags 47:27 Defensive Backs Breakdown 48:55 Cornerback Room Concerns 54:37 Free Agent Corner Targets 57:10 Drafting A Shutdown Corner 01:02:02 Safety Room Rebuild 01:05:57 Safety Free Agency And Draft 01:10:09 Wrap Up And Sign Off Fan With Us! NFC North Roundtable: Combine Talk, Draft Priorities, QB Questions, and a Mental Health Message — Hosts from Bears, Lions, and Vikings coverage preview the NFL Combine and discuss team priorities and prospects. Detroit's Brad Holmes emphasizes versatile offensive linemen, defensive line, secondary (especially safety), and athletic linebackers, with coaches aiming to reduce explosive plays, stay versatile on offense, and potentially retain David Montgomery. Minnesota's Kevin O'Connell and Rob Brzezinski limit media access and speak generally about “casting a wide net” at quarterback for 2026 while reiterating belief in J.J. McCarthy despite a changed timeline; they also plan a GM search after the draft and debate potential veteran or backup QB options while criticizing Kyler Murray's recent stats. Chicago's Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson avoid stadium talk, address left tackle needs, and note tough roster decisions amid trade rumors involving Tremaine Edmunds and D.J. Moore. The panel highlights combine prospects at WR, center, safety, edge, and OL, then closes with a suicide prevention message and the 988 Lifeline. 00:00 NFC North Roundtable Intro 02:01 Combine Boots on Ground 02:52 Lions Draft Priorities 04:19 Lions Scheme and Defense Fixes 06:46 Lions Draft Class Talk 09:22 Vikings Media Strategy 11:11 JJ McCarthy Timeline 15:07 Vikings QB Shopping List 20:26 Packers Shade and Rivalry 20:45 Bears Combine Takeaways 21:47 Bears Left Tackle Need 23:30 Bears Cap Moves Rumors 24:36 Cap Space Reality Check 24:50 Bears Trade Rumors 25:29 Combine Prospects Vikings 28:18 Vikings Defense Targets 30:07 Lions Draft Wish List 34:43 Bears Combine Watchlist 38:17 Packers Needs and Sleepers 40:18 Network Shows and Coverage 42:04 988 Suicide Prevention Message FAN WITH US!!! Vikings Cast a Wide Net at QB for 2026 After Brzezinski's Combine Comments — Dave from Vikings First in SKOL recaps February 24, 2026 on this Vikings Daily Opener, news from the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, where Vikings cap/FO executive Rob Brzezinski says the team is “exploring all possibilities” to improve quarterback play in 2026 and “not ruling anything out,” signaling J.J. McCarthy is on notice despite Kevin O'Connell still calling him the franchise QB while acknowledging the timeline has changed. The episode frames the Vikings as seeking a baseline level of competent QB play and discusses what a “wide net” could include, ranging from top-end veteran options to competition/bridge quarterbacks, naming Kyler Murray, Aaron Rodgers, a possibly retired Derek Carr, Kirk Cousins (noting potential release in Atlanta), Geno Smith, Mac Jones, Malik Willis, Anthony Richardson, and a lower tier including Marcus Mariota and Jimmy Garoppolo (with additional mentions like Spencer Rattler). Brzezinski emphasizes the team won't force a bad fit (“can't manufacture what's not there”) and is running the front office through after the draft under owner Mark Wilf, while O'Connell downplays any drama regarding the former GM now in San Francisco. Dave concludes the Vikings are being more aggressive at quarterback than since the 2009 Brett Favre move, presenting the approach as “re-arming” rather than rebuilding and inviting any potential QB to join a team featuring Justin Jefferson and a loud home stadium. 00:00 SKOL Nation Intro 01:13 Combine Bombshell 02:13 JJ On Notice 04:01 Coach Speak Reality 04:56 Top Tier Targets 06:34 Veteran Competition 08:49 Fallback Options 09:32 Front Office Power 11:15 What It Means 12:58 Rearming Finale FAN WITH US! Vikings Need Defensive Youth: Linebacker Outlook, Combine Questions, and Tribute to Rondale Moore — Dave and Darren react to Team USA beating Canada for Olympic hockey gold, then shift to Vikings offseason topics as the NFL Combine begins. They emphasize the defense is aging (including Harrison Smith, Jonathan Allen, Javon Hargrave, Andrew Van Ginkel, Eric Wilson, and Blake Cashman nearing 30) and argue Minnesota should use its four top-100 picks in the 2026 draft to add young, cheap defensive talent. They review the linebacker groups: the Van Ginkel–Greenard–Dallas Turner edge trio is strong but lacks proven depth, while inside linebacker is stable with Cashman but hinges on whether the Vikings re-sign free agent Eric Wilson or replace him via free agency/draft amid broader depth concerns. They question why Kevin O'Connell and Rob Brzezinski are not scheduled for national podium sessions at the Combine, suggesting the team may be controlling exposure to tough questions. They also note combine-week rumor areas to watch (QB chatter, Jordan Addison trade buzz, and Maxx Crosby possibly landing with NFC North rivals). The episode ends with a tribute to Vikings wide receiver Rondale Moore, who was found dead at 25 in Indiana, later reported as a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and a message encouraging people to check in on others. 00:00 USA Wins Olympic Hockey Gold + Show Kickoff 00:20 NFL Combine Week & Vikings Defense Aging Problem 03:59 Theme 1: Getting Younger — Why 2026 Draft Could Be Defense-Heavy 15:43 Do the Vikings Need to Draft Safety/CB Early?
