Watch this episode on YouTube (video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_P0V8QGdnE&feature=youtu.be Dagny Norvoll Sandvik grew up in a musically gifted family in Tromsø, Norway however it wasn’t until later that she truly found her passion for songwriting when she moved to London in her early twenties. Her climb to international attention was meteoric, following the release of Backbeat in 2015. Since then she has grown to become one of Norway’s most exciting artists, live performers and songwriters – with over 450 million streams amassed, sold out tours, and critical acclaim by everyone from Nylon and Billboard to The Guardian and Harpers Bazaar, within the span of just a few short years. Carrying on this unstoppable momentum, Dagny’s debut Ultraviolet EP received unanimous praise from critics with features such as Billboard’s 10 Pop Stars To Watch In 2017, and VEVO’s Ones To Watch 2017. She joined forces with SEEB in 2018 to deliver the hit Drink About – a track streamed over 200 million times by 2019, recently winning an award for most streamed and most played song in Norway. From working with world-renowned producers such as Steve Aoki to co-writing for Katy Perry, it’s clear that Dagny is on the precipice of stardom - if not, there already. #73: Gender Disparity on Irish and UK Radio | Linda Coogan Byrne (Soul Doubt Podcast)

This week, we're joined by MD of Good Seed PR - Linda Coogan Byrne. In a report published in June, Linda uncovered a glaring disparity between male and female artists featured on Irish and UK radio stations. Not only did most Irish radio stations commonly feature just one Irish female artist in their top twenty most-played tracks, but the most played female act was also the only black artist featured in the entire report: Soulé. We chat to Linda about her findings and what's next for her campaign. To raise awareness of this bias, Linda has launched a GoFundMe campaign for 'Why Not Her?': https://www.gofundme.com/f/why-not-her Find out more about the Gender Disparity Report on Irish and UK radio stations: https://linktr.ee/lindacooganbyrne Linda curates an inclusive playlist on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/492Vvf2J9mtpICFhMN6G3M?si=hPuOOzefSAGkFjRh5V47RQ Subscribe to this podcast on iTunes here: https://podcasts.apple.com/ie/podcast/soul-doubt-podcast/id1417413227 Subscribe to this podcast on Spotify here: https://open.spotify.com/show/3bTwZJw25O5hTJ9zu9pCct Follow Soul Doubt Magazine on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/souldoubtmagazine/ Follow Soul Doubt Magazine on Twitter: https://twitter.com/souldoubtmag Discover new Irish music with our 'Neighbourhood Watch' playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6TzwVwLUAFzQY6VVzZ1zsV?si=A80wFi5YRI-xBkUgyvTydA Submit to Soul Doubt online: https://www.souldoubtmagazine.com/submit Thanks for watching! Follow FYNCH on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/0IKMnBuBLJuHcrTejKmrtx?si=NRWRVpaNR9K2oBOT9L-V1A FYNCH is a 22-year-old hip-hop artist hailing from Drimnagh in Dublin. As co-founder of the illustrious label Burner Records, FYNCH finds his niche by thematically swerving through cliché hip-hop bravado and nonsensical diatribes lamenting the death of 12.5g Amber Leaf boxes. His odes to life's drudgery is merely FYNCH's ideal, finding the poetic in the pathetic. His distinguished debut project 'MIXVAPE’, released under District Recordings in June 2018, set a distinctive tone that cultivated the attention of fans and critics alike. Singles released since ‘Home’ and ‘Saipan’ carry the same standards, cementing FYNCH as a beacon of Ireland’s hip-hop culture. His new EP 'Bookies Pens & Loose Ends' is a five-track introspective look at post-academic life; devoid of hope, struggling with confidence and identity.
