Hi, we're Tory and Alex, two Canadian sisters living by the beach in Australia. Between the two of us we've lived all over the world and have learnt along the way what things make our lives great. We choose to live consciously, with purpose and create a life by design. We choose to live Tnfld. The…
How was your 2022? Tory and Alex take some time to reflect and discuss the past year, work through some great questions and get excited about the new year ahead. Bring your journal and pen for some deep diving :)
Three years later and 50 episodes in...it's time to celebrate! Tune in for our tenfold #tnfld tuneup. Thanks for listening
Miscarriage sucks. Tory went through one last month and it's something that is way more common than most people realise. At least 1/5 (but probably more) pregnancies end in miscarriage yet it's still something that's not often talked about openly. We hope that sharing Tory's experience can help anyone who may be going through the same thing or supporting someone through it.
What is it like when your parents live on the other side of the world, you haven't seen them in five years, and they're about to arrive on your doorstep? For some people it would be a straightforward joyous reunion. But for a lot of people it would be a mix of many emotions and then a good dollop of guilt for even feeling like that. In this ep, Tory and Alex discuss how they've worked on healing their relationship with their parents and strategies they're putting in place to hopefully make this reunion the best it can be.
We couldn't end the year without one last deep and meaningful with you all! We took a sabbatical the last few months to rest and reset after a full on year of change... we're reflecting on all that 2021 was for us including motherhood, relationships, first homes and more. And of course we have a quick pop culture round up and some juicy reflection questions for you. Grab your journal and get cozy with us to farewell 2021!
Sorry for being M.I.A., we missed you! We are back with a life update and the last episode of (a very long) Season 2. It's been a BIG year and we'll be taking a proper break but before we do, we wanted to do one more juicy episode for you. When Alex was living in Bali a few years ago she learned about Yantra Yoga, which uses numbers and time cycles based on your birth date to help you understand the energies and cycles that will influence your life. We're walking you through the calculations so you can map out your unique numbers and cycles to have a new framework that can give some insight into your path. Get out your notebooks and get cozy with us!
With most of Australia back in lockdown we wanted to lift the mood a bit and give you all some positive distractions to help get you through it. It has been a rough year for the world but there's been a lot of good too and we're sharing 8 things that have given us hope and made us feel like anything is possible!
After an unintentional break, we're back! And we're talking about Bondi...our first Australia home. The bubble full of sunshine, saltwater, sex appeal and activewear. If you've ever thought about moving to this famous place, let us take you on a tour :)
It's a big one. Full moon in Sagittarius, with a lunar eclipse to top it all off. The energy is expansive, positive and ripe for making big changes. Let's come together, reflect and let gooooooo tonight :)
We're getting existential this week and diving into LIFE! What is the meaning of life? Is it... happiness? purpose? fulfillment? love? all or none of the above? We've both been going through big changes that have had us thinking about why we're here and what we want out of life. We're looking back on the 'accepted path' we grew up with, how that's changing and what our mindframes are these days. We also go over some questions we can all ask ourselves to check in on our individual reasons for being.
Time for some full moon magic! This is an intense Scorpio super moon that may find us at a crossroads... it's all about surrendering to the unknown, embracing change, and finding the strength within ourselves. Grab your journals and join us to release and reflect
When you're feeling lonely, it can feel like you're the only person who has ever felt that way. But the thing is, we've all been there... many times and we all move through it! We wanted to put our experiences with loneliness out in the open to remind everyone it's just part of being human and to hopefully help some of you to feel a little bit less alone.
Happy full moon! It's our first High Tide episode of 2021 and the first full moon of the new astrological year, bringing in the changing of seasons and some light after the darkness. The Libra energy is putting a focus on harmony, balance and relationships this month. Grab your journal and a cuppa and join us in our monthly ritual to reflect and release!
We're back with another dating/relationship ep and a more regular schedule! We're not normally fans of the American Bachelor/ette series but when we heard the latest (and oldest ever) Bachelorette, Clare Crawley, ran off with one of the guys after a grand total of 12 days (4 episodes) without ever having a single date with him, we had to check it out. Join us as we play armchair psychologist and dissect all the issues we spotted during our binge watch from love bombing and social media stalking to falling victim to your own narrative and acting from a scarcity mindset.
We're backkkkkk! Alex gave birth on 29th Jan to beautiful Sadie baby - the ultimate Aquarian who took her time and arrived on the one day no one guessed. We're sharing the birth story and Alex's thoughts on pregnancy, labour and motherhood (so far)... especially the unexpected details no one thinks to share!
We are taking it back to all the formative movies and shows we watched as kids that shaped what we thought life would be like... and the reality check we've faced in the real world! From high school, to working life as young adults and romance, we talk about all the expectations we had for different phases of our lives and how it actually panned out. If you're looking for some nostalgia and comfort then join us and let us know if we missed any of your faves! We also talk about one of our favourite blogs that is the ultimate cozy corner/comfort read.
The first baby in the next generation of Ishi's is due any day now! Alex is about to be a first-time mum and Tory a first-time auntie, and we've been thinking a lot about who Alex's daughter will be and what we want to teach her. It's exciting and a bit daunting! We're talking about all the things we learned as kids that we wish we hadn't (and have spent years unlearning!) and what we hope we can teach our kids.
To kick off the New Year we decided to take a trip down memory lane...to the trip that changed our lives forever. Tory and I basically divide both of our lives up as BCR (before Costa Rica) and ACR (after Costa Rica). It's the land that swept us up in its heady, tropical ways and took us down a path we never even knew existed. It was the trip that started the rest of our lives....the trip that started our journey to live tenfold (#tnfld).
Our last episode of 2020! Cancer full moon in full effect, entering the 5th dimension and reflecting on what a huge year 2020 has been. Bring a notebook and cozy up. THANK YOU for coming along on the journey with us. We love you!
Happy Full Moon! It's a wild one with Gemini front and centre. With only one month left in the year the energy is heavy and intense (pretty accurate for most of 2020). It's time to grab your journal and a pen and start answering the questions we have for you. It's time to let go xx
It seems like a lot of people are thinking about moving these days... whether it's to a new apartment, new neighbourhood or new country. We've both moved our fair share over the years and have it down to an art so we wanted to share our advice on how to know when the time is right, how to find the perfect place and how to ease the transition.
2020 has been a year like no other and in the midst of the craziness that is the US election during another wave of COVID we're taking a more hopeful look into where the world is headed... ever heard of the fifth dimension? There have been huge shifts in the world over the last little while and it really does feel like a lot of things are changing for the better. Listen for a dose of optimism and hope if you're feeling anxious about how it's all going to turn out!
High Tide is back for the blue moon! We're walking you through another juicy full moon ritual, sharing our highs and lows over the last month, giving you journal prompts for reflections and closing with a mediation and chant.
Has quarantine got you dreaming of life on the road? Our friends Josh & Jess bought a camper van earlier this year on a whim and started their journey just in time to avoid Sydney winter and lockdown. For the last 4 months they've been travelling up the coast, spending a week at a time at different beaches - working and studying during the week, and adventuring on the weekends. They stopped by for a visit on their way back to Sydney and we chatted about how they're living tenfold through the pandemic and all the secrets of van life!
Inspired by our recent binge-watching of PEN15, we're sharing our embarrassing middle school memories from the '90s and early '00s... our first periods, crushes, frenemies and all the awkward moments in between. It's story time!
After a slew of mystery symptoms and a cancer scare I quit the pill, got diagnosed with the autoimmune disease Hashimotos (hypothyroid) and set out on a journey to discover wtf was going on with my health. Did it get better? No, it got worse...way, way worse. From integrative holistic doctors to raw diets, to yoga teacher training and finding respite in Bali – I went down a deep, anxious well of mental and physical health. I learned A LOT and I can proudly say I am now, seven years later, in good health. If you feel you're headed down your own health rabbit hole, give this episode a listen and let us know what you think! – xx Alex
In the last podcast we talked about the Survival Mode Spectrum and how most of us are on it to some degree. So what do you do next? How do you deal? In this episode we talk about the best things we've tried and added to our own self-care toolbox. What really does the trick? What's worth the $$$? What can you do for free? So have a listen and let us know what's worked for you too!
Usually around that time you finish high school is when, if you’re lucky enough, it’s time to take your first sojourn…solo. Tory and I both had the opportunity to travel in Europe separately around the age of 19 and from her stories as an au pair in France and Belgium and my stories as a backpacker in Greece…and two week au pair in Italy…we can pretty safely say we made the most of it. It’s not even what you do really, but what you become by the end of it. It’s the first test of who you are, a right of passage and memories you will never forget. If you’re looking for a little escape, tune into the podcast for story time.
From Auto-Pilot to Survival Mode, the majority of people nowadays live their life somewhere on the spectrum. The question is…do you? We put together the six badges people on the SM spectrum tend to wear and a questionnaire to help you identify if you’re living in cruise control. THE TELLTALE SIGNS SOMEONE (OR YOU!) IS IN SURVIVAL MODE 1. They appear successful and super together. 2. If you ask them if they’re happy there’s always a hesitation/sense of dissatisfaction/inability to just say YES. 3. If you go deeper, there’s always an underlying health symptom or issue that’s begun to pop up (for example: not sleeping, panic attacks, bowel issues, auto immune disorder, etc.).
After 13 years of blind, dedicated devotion Alex quit the pill. Tory quickly followed suit. Why the abrupt turnaround? What did we discover? And was coming off the pill as bad as everyone said it would be? We're both about four years post pill and in that time we have learned A LOT about our bodies. We debunk the three big myths surrounding the pill (that we believed for over a decade), recount our individual experiences coming off the pill and more. If you're a woman on OR off the pill, this is something you will want to hear. – Tory & Alex Check out our site www.tnfld.com for all references mentioned in this episode.
There is a well worn path that many post-uni students have travelled: You're done with your undergrad and uninspired by the entry level jobs available to you...so what do you do next? Well, why not go to law school?! We talk about Tory's experience becoming a lawyer and why immediately upon graduating she decided to move to Australia and leave the law world behind. Was law school worth it? Does she regret her experience? Will she ever return to the bar?!
Growing up mixed race in Canada was a defining experience. Tory and Alex talk with their friend Shadi about how this affected them and what living in Australia – a country with a reputation for some racist tendencies – has been like in comparison. *We recorded this before George Floyd was killed a few days ago, horrifically highlighting how important discussion and action around racism and our conscious and unconscious societal beliefs still is in this day and age. It does exist. Even in the 'good' places like Canada.
Do you live in a cold and grey place? Do you spend your COVID days dreaming of a land far, far...down under? Well you've come to the right place. If you've ever thought about moving to Australia, but aren't sure if the grass is really greener, listen to this episode for a breakdown on what makes Australia the best country in the world and the place you want to be. http://tnfld.com/2020/05/16/tnfld-podcast-ep…e-like-australia/
Do you ever feel tired after hanging out with someone? Or feel like there's just never enough time to do anything? How about feeling like you just want to escape away from it all? Chances are you've got some energy leaks. You're losing energy daily on external things, which leaves you with an empty tank to run on. We talk about how we address these leaks in our emotional space and our physical space. There is A LOT you can do to keep your energy strong and to yourself.
Have you ever wanted to know more about your astrological self? Do you feel like you don't quite fit with the description of your sign? Have you noticed patterns with the astro signs of the people in your life? Well we're here to help. We go through how to do a very simple read of your astrological chart and how to start spotting the patterns in your life. Knowledge is power and astro literacy is a great tool to help you understand your world.
What are you worrying about right now? Is it really something you can control? We’ve all got worries and it’s easy to get swept up in them during uncertain times likes these. Talking about our worries is one of the best ways to work through them and to realise they’re probably not as bad as we think they are. So we talk through what's been weighing us down during isolation and how we cope with our anxieties when they come up.
Our lives have been put on pause and where we are at right now is it (for the foreseeable future). Your job, your home, your partner, your friends, etc., what you have now is what you've got. The question...is it what you want? Now is the time to plan for the future. It's the time for us to manifest.
With most of the world self-isolating in a surreal limbo state, we wanted to lighten things up with some celebrity gossip and a few of our favourite shows and movies that can entertain you while you're stuck in quarantine!
We could all use a little magic in our lives, especially at this moment. We talk about all the rituals that bring us comfort and help us live with intention. Adding a bit of woo woo to your life feels good and even if you're not a believer we're sure it will bring you some joy xx
What have been the different bubbles in your life? How do these little micro worlds affect you? How is this big bubble we're all in right now #viruslife affecting us? We examine the different bubbles of our lives and what choices have brought us to where we are today.
Are relationships just a reflection of yourself? We talk about the Netflix show Love is Blind and all the triggers it brought up in us. Is Alex a Jessica? Who does Tory have a crush on?! But seriously, we talk a lot about relationships – the biggest mirror of them all.
We spent two weeks in the Noosa Hinterland learning about permaculture, but really – learning about how we can save the planet. Spoiler alert: the planet doesn't actually need our help, but if we want to stay on it, we need to sort ourselves out!
We're back! The last 10 months have been a whirlwind adventure as we've moved cross country to pursue our tenfold (#tnfld)life. We decided to turn the mics on ourselves and look back at everything we've learned along the way. Moving from Sydney to the Gold Coast. Starting a new life from scratch. Manifesting our dream apartment. Two boyfriends named Scott... Life is weird and wonderful. Stay tuned for some woo woo at the end if you're keen!
"Instead of speaking to god, I picked up my phone and started talking to Siri. I said… "Is it time to let the dream go?” Meet Helen, a horse-loving entrepreneur who successfully pursued her life-long dream of owning a riding farm in the country. Despite growing up in the city with no farming experience, she had a single-minded purpose and worked towards her goal relentlessly. She spent a decade saving up and getting as much experience with horses as she could so she could buy her own plot of land in the country. So at nearly 30, despite being single and scared of being alone, she took the leap and moved to a small country town by herself where she knew no one, and had no running water or electricity. She had nothing but a plot of land, a stray dog and her horses to keep her company... but she had a dream and her mother's visions that her soulmate - "the man with the golden glints" - was out there somewhere waiting for her.
