Sometimes a fantasy comic appears, hits the ground running and blow your minds with a gauntleted fist, and 'Godhark' was a book that did that. So this week the ACP crew sat down with its creator Sean Manaloto to talk about the creation of the book, his artwork, influences, epic storytelling and the pure love of the comics medium. Long time listeners know that I am a connoisseur of the sequential arts. It is truly the theater of the mind because I can co-create with the artist to experience an environment or an adventure. I bring this up because sometimes healing can come from unexpected places. Like a graphic novel or a comic book. Three of the books talk about the experience of having a perpetual negative voice interfering with the quality of their lives. Three of the books speak to what they have done to connect with their better selves. In this episode a look at five graphic novels memoires about anxiety. If you need support contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 988 or 1-800-273-8255, the Trevor Project at 1-866-488-7386 or text “START” to 741-741. Resources Mentioned: Marie and the Worrywart by Jen Woodall. The cover gives a good example of going from being normal to transition into symptom flare up. It is published by Silver Sprocket Press. MonsterMind: Dealing with Anxiety and Self-Doubt by Alfonso Casas does not have just one voice but a committee such as Mr. Past Traumas, Mr. Fear, Mr. Social Anxiety, Mr. Impostor Syndrome, Mr. Sadness, Mr. Doubt and there may be more hiding in the rafters. The Worrier's Guide to Life by Gemma Correll, world champion over-thinker. What if everything you saw negatively came into being. As if it was an overly to every single thing you laid eyes on. For example, you are looking into an ice cream case and see rocky road kill or cookies & clams. The Last Gay Man on Earth is a photo memoir that has Ype Driessen. All I know is that there is a sentient robot vacuum cleaner involved. The publisher is Street Noise Books. Also on the Andrews McMeel website is a book by Debbie Tung, Everything is Ok. But it isn't because we are talking about anxiety and depression. This is a graphic memoir about how she navigates the highs and lows of her experiences. Improve: How I Discovered Improv and Conquered Social Anxiety by Alex Graudins. What do you do when you have a bad case of social anxiety? Alex's decision is to sign up for an improv comedy class. The flaming arrows of worry, anxiety and fear are hurled at everyone of us on a daily basis, but when we are armed with the shield of faith, dipped in the Water of God's Word we are able to quench those fiery darts! Check out Part 2 of this valuable teaching!
Are you a worry wart? A worry wart is One who worries excessively or unnecessarily. Jesus said this; Luke 12:22–24: “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; nor about the body, what you will put on. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing. Consider the ravens, for they neither sow nor reap, which have neither storehouse nor barn; and God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds?'”

Traditional Worship | Bishop Bob Hayes | William Shakespeare asked the famous question, “What's in a name?” Names are important for our identity. There are names we are given at birth, names we use to connect or remember others, and names we use to label ourselves. In this series, we are going to look at some of the labels we wear, but we will also celebrate how Jesus can change those labels and give us a new name! Join us as we celebrate our connection to each other and say, “Hello, my name is ...”
In order to answer this question, we have to appreciate the thin line between anticipating future events and worrying about future events. The essential difference —anticipating versus worrying —has to do with the infusion of insecurity. In this Self-Coaching episode, you'll find out why it's important to take a step back from any life challenge or crisis and ask two important questions: · Is what I'm feeling rational and reasonable? · Is what I'm feeling proportionate or disproportionate to the circumstance? Asking these questions will put you in the best possible position to begin to liberate yourself from needless worry and stress.

We consume ourselves with worrying that we forget to stop and take into consideration what we can control. We have a different perspective on how to overcome & become new with the cards dealt.
• I have built lots of houses, flipped over 100 homes, and for some... This felt different. All the houses I've built before had partners, I had other contractors who had the risk, it wasn't all on me. But this one was all me, I had to face my fears and worries and completely put myself out there. When life gets like this for me, I know it's because I've drifted away from God. When I'm so consumed with worry, most likely because I haven't surrendered, I know I'm not allowing myself to turn over the outcomes that I have no control over. So Sunday, we went to church and the entire message was about... Guess what? Surrendering, I realized that my worry was not necessary. (04:30)• And you know what happened? Right after church, I had an open house scheduled for these two houses to try to sell them, they'd only been on the market a couple of days. I set up everything, I put all the signs out, the flags out, and for a half an hour, absolutely no one... I mean, no one, I felt ghosted. I also felt like the kid sitting inside the house waiting for your friends to show up, peering out the window, where are they? Are they coming? Are they going to be here? No one for like a half an hour, and then you guys, all of the sudden cars upon cars... I mean, at one point, God was just showing off. 30 people are walking around the house, it was speaking life into me. See, what I didn't know was that the little theater across the street that I actually had thought had been abandoned, had a play scheduled at the exact same time of my open house and the hotel car by car, showed up to the theater and they all came to see my house. The response and the feedback honestly brought me to tears because that day I sold both houses. (05:49)• And I think God was saying to me, child, I got you. You're mine, you have nothing to fear. The bigger the mess, the bigger the carry. Am I right? I am a mess and none of that had anything to do with me, and I just want to give God the glory for that moment, he just overwhelmed me that day, overwhelmed me to the point of tears that I could be such a mess, such a worried filled mess, and the very day that I'm feeling that and trying to surrender to God, that he shows up and he shows off, Oh man! So do not let worry, fear and dread over take your mind honey. Surrender. And you know the thing about surrendering is, is this is not a one-time thing, it's an act that must happen daily, a daily reminder that your worry can be handed over and you can let peace in. (6:58)• Honey, you are good enough. You do know what you're doing. Do the thing. Even if you're scared, I'm proud of you. You're incredible. You are amazing. Do the thing. Even when you're worried, thank you so much for listening today for coming and joining me as I share things that are closest and dearest to my heart. May your day be filled with peace. I am so proud to know her and share her journey with you. Caitlin had the extremely difficult job of being a reporter and news anchor during the pandemic and also learned maybe you can grow out of your dream job. She has a kind heart and sweet soul (I know that's so barf, but it's so true), I hope you love her just as much as I do.

Let's talk about worry. When it comes to emotions, there are ones that are useful and ones that are not. Worry is one of those that is not useful. Join me in this episode as we discuss why we worry, what worry even is, and 5 steps for dealing with worry so you can stop being a worrywart. Mentioned on the show: How to Be Totally Miserable book You can find me: Instagram Website
Jesus himself addressed it in the Sermon on the Mount:Therefore do not worry, saying, “What shall we eat?” or “What shall we drink?” or “What shall we wear?”For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you (Matthew 6:31–33 NKJV).Believers should not worry. Jesus is not saying that Christians shouldn't be concerned about the necessities of life. He is not saying that we shouldn't think about them or plan for the future. The Bible encourages us to work hard, to save our money, and so forth, but what Jesus is saying is that we shouldn't worry about these things. Worry doesn't make your life longer; it just makes it more miserable.2 / 2 Support the show
