Why Listen Steve served as President & CEO of Mercedes Benz USA, and now oversees the parent company for the Atlanta Falcons and other iconic brands. We talk about the rejection that Steve faced on his way to these incredible accomplishments, and how persistence, taking advice from wherever you can get it, and creating purpose in the workplace made all the difference. Having served in such high-level leadership positions, Steve and I talk about the differences between leadership in and out of the military, as well as a common misconception about work-life balance. And we talk about the importance of getting out of one’s comfort zone because this is precisely the area where all growth comes from. About Steve Steve Cannon is the CEO of AMB Group, which is comprised of Arthur Blank's for-profit businesses, including the Atlanta Falcons, Atlanta United, Mercedes-Benz Stadium and PGA TOUR Superstore. He started out at West Point, after which he served as an Army Airborne Ranger and served as 1st Lieutenant in West Germany during the fall of the Iron Curtain. He worked as a Principal at The Richards Group, which is the largest independent branding agency in the nation, with a staff of over 700 and annual billings above $1 billion. He worked at Mercedes Benz USA, first as Vice President of Marketing, and then as President and CEO.
This Week, former IMF deputy managing director Anne Krueger came on to talk about what she calls "Trump's Brain Drain" and how higher education is getting left out of the immigration debate. Alberto Ramos, head of Latin America Economic Research at Goldman Sachs, explained why he's 'cautiously optimistic' about the outlooks for Brazil and Argentina. Canopy Growth CEO Bruce Linton discussed building the first hemp production facility in the U.S. Steve Cannon, CEO of the AMB Group, which owns the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, talked about his Super Bowl prep. Then Greylock Capital Management CEO Hans Humes came on to talk about the dueling presidents in Venezuela.
AMB Group is the investment management and support services arm of Arthur Blank’s for-profit businesses, which includes the Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta United FC, among others. The group's SVP and CCO speaks to PRWeek managing editor Gideon Fidelzeid about leveraging brand ambassadors effectively, the comms-CEO relationship, earning media in outlets outside your comfort zone, and what is the real value to a brand to have its name on a stadium or arena.
Our guest this week is not the typical guest we tend to feature on "Hazard Ground." But we felt it was important to have Steve Cannon on to talk about service & leadership, as he is someone who's embodied those ideals for a very long time. Steve Cannon is currently the CEO of AMB Group, LLC - the Arthur M. Blank family of businesses, which includes the NFL's Atlanta Falcons, whose business operations Cannon currently leads. He is also a West Point graduate and qualified Army Airborne Ranger, who served in West Germany during the fall of the Iron Curtain. Prior to joining AMB Group, Cannon served as president & CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, where he was responsible for leading operations that generated record sales with annual revenues exceeding $20 billion. Cannon's leadership philosophy, work ethic, and all-around attitude on perseverance & resilience are the reasons he's been so successful, while continuing to be a down-to-earth, humble & all-around good human being. This is a must-listen episode...Don't miss it!! www.blankfamilyofbusinesses.com | www.johnnymac.org | www.hazardground.com
