Taina Maldonado sits down with one the biggest advocates for equality in women's sports, World Champion Boxer Heather "The Heat" Hardy. She first made waves on the scene of amateur boxing in 2011-2012, winning every title you could win at 125lbs. Regionals, Metros, Nationals and Golden Gloves, along with a NE Kickboxing title. Hardy was ranked #1 in the USA at 125lbs. before turning professional August 4, 2012. After turning professional, Hardy racked up an impressive 15 straight wins and no losses at Super Bantamweight (122lbs.) including capturing a WBC and UBF International title. Hardy became the first female to be signed to a long term promotional contract by DiBella entertainment and the first female to box professionally on a boxing card ar The Barclays Center. Hardy was then known as “The First Lady of Brooklyn Boxing”. In August of 2016, on the night she captured the WBC Featherweight Title, Hardy/Vincent was aired on NBC Sports, and was the first female bout to be televised in over 20 years. In June of 2017, Hardy decided to try her hand at MMA and became the first athlete (male or female) to be co-promoted in two combat sports. She signed to Belabor and became an instant fan favorite when she won her pro debut at MSG by knockout. In 2018, Hardy fulfilled her dream of becoming a world champion where she defeated Shelly Vincent for a second time and was only the second female fight ever to be aired on HBO.

Bedroom Hero Part 8 of 9 Machine Generated Transcript: [00:00] Welcome, welcome to another episode of the recharge podcast. This is the bedroom hero segment eight. I believe in what I want to talk about in this segment are mistakes, common mistakes that I see on a daily basis in my men's health practice and coaching a Rome. And so let's just jump into these here. The first is self abuse. And this, uh, you know, probably is what you think it is, but also something else. I have a lot of men who are addicted to endurance sports and uh, myself, I love that realm, but it has some consequences. The chronic endurance chronic cardio actually creates some inflammation in the body, increases cortisol level, adrenal fatigue, disrupts hormones and can cause a whole host of problems. And so while it may be addicting, fun, rewarding, maybe a lifestyle, just keep in mind that when things aren't going as well behind the bedroom door, take a look at what's going on inside the gym or out on the trail or on the bike that'll give you some idea about things. [00:58] Um, drugs. There are a whole host of drugs and have sexual side effects in a prescription. Drugs will also elicit drugs. I see a fair number of people that are, uh, maybe addicted to a substance and they're not sure why things aren't working as well as they had in the past. And really you need to take a long, hard look at what is going on in terms of habits, lifestyle and choices. It's all about choice. I've alluded to this in a couple of the other segments and that's what I call a gas station pharmacy. Really, we do not know what's in most of these things. We don't know how they work if they're even the substance that they say they are, so they're fancily package. They look cool. The colors are bright, the promises are bold. These things are produced in a variety of ways that are not regulated by the government. [01:47] Just to keep that in mind that it might say it's something doesn't have to mean that that's what's in there. It can be adulterated, full of toxins or worst case could be full of some harmful chemicals. Occasionally contained some active drugs such as sildenafil or Tadalafil, which can be dangerous for people depending on what their underlying medical situation is, so without a skilled provider in the loop, in a reputable, verifiable product, all bets are off. Plastics are another huge thing. A thalates are endocrine disruptors. You know every time you're sipping out of a plastic jug plastic bottle, think about this, you travel, you get some water, maybe get a 12 pack or a 24 pack of water, throw it in the trunk, backseat and it sits in the sun and those toxic chemicals leach into the water and drink that stuff and it disrupts your hormones. [02:35] I'm also the fluid, the fluid, the food. Unfortunately the standard American diet is just that. It's just sad and it's packed full of things that will inflame the body, caloric excess weight gain, all the things that can disrupt not only sexual function, erectile dysfunction, but also health in general, so I'm not going to Belabor the point. I'm pretty sure you know what I'm talking about and this isn't just a male issue. The statistics for females or are pretty similar. Maybe even a little higher, whether it's a female sexual arousal disorder or the problems with hormonal loss with aging or surgical hysterectomy where the ovaries are removed and the hormones are absent and as estrogen levels and other things become dysregulated that the vagina actually can atrophy and dry up and shrivel up like a raisin. And so makes penetration, sexual activity obviously very painful and uncomfortable and at times even impossible, but there is help. [03:29] There are specific treatments, whether that's bioidentical hormones, whether it's the topical regimen or laser rejuvenation of the vagina. There a variety of things out there. There are plenty of people that are interested in this area that are skilled at it and are changing and transforming a relationships and lives both for men and women. So, uh, those are just a few of the common mistakes that I see there. There are others as well, but, uh, let me know if you have any questions as I always talk to your provider. Look for the cars, get beyond the standard and have a fantastic week. I will be wrapping this up here shortly.

The Latin root word labor means “work.” This Latin root is the word origin of a “working” number of English vocabulary words, including collaborate, labor itself, and elaborate. The root labor is easily recalled via the word laboratory, for that is where scientists do their “work.”Like this? Build a competent vocabulary with Membean.
